Pretty much just gotta do it by hand. No real short cut.
Personally, I use regular Simple Green and paper towels to clean up the engine bay and take away any dirt or stains. Then for the black engine covers I use Mothers Back-to-Black and it leaves them really wet and clean looking.

I have a 2004 velocity red automatic 4 speed and I am under the hood every day and when I cleran on the week ends its a2 to 3 hour deal. I touch every thing I can by hand with a terry towel rinsed in a mild soap.
Never ever spray under the hood. Too many electronics. Its a luv of labor my 8 is. I use simple hand dish soap, mild dish soap works great, unless you only clean once a year or ?.
"You would think a motor with 3 moving parts would be not so complicated" .
