"Gold" Racing Beat Exhaust Tips - Not Any More!
#26
well when I wax them with nxt it creates a hazing effect. Does zaino'ing the tips rid the gold bronzing effect?
O another thing I've read is that it is recommended that you wrap the grounding strap to the exhaust and that it helps prevent corrosion. Might not have anything to do with the "bronzing" effect but couldn't hurt. Take this with a grain of salt though I don't necessarily have proof.

Just got off the phone with them: They were waiting on a shipment of caps for their bottles. Products ordered recently will be shipped out either tomorrow or monday.
Hoping to have mine by late next week...

this stuff rocks! (English Custom Polish Hot Environment & Chrome) I had heavily blued/yellowed tips on my Racing Beat exhaust after a a New England winter.
I tried One Grand Chrome Polish (I accidentally was shipped the wrong product the first time) and it didn't do the trick. It made the tips reflective and shiny, but it was "blue and shiny" still.
Whereas, the "Hot Environment and Chrome" that I got did a real nice job. I was surprised as to how well everything cleared up. It took some elbow grease, but the bluing/yellowing is gone and there's just some more polishing I need to do to get these completely cleaned up... but it was late and really cold.
I was thinking of busting out Mother's Powerball and polishing the tips and the underside of the muffler cans... I hope that stuff works well w/ the Powerball, although it may not work at all.
THanks Low Fly'n 8 for the tips!
I have now uncovered shiny exhaust tips again
edit: here's some photos. First one is the exhaust before any polishing (after a wash). Second is the tip polished w/ ECP stuff today (sorry the pic is so blurry! it was getting dark.. will take better pic tomorrow). Third is the comparison of how the tips look on the outside (polished and not). The last two are brutal flash photos that show every imperfection... the first one is pre-polish, second one is as polished today. As you can see, I didn't polish all the way, just the visible portion.. I'd need to take off the exhaust shrouds to get to some of those deeper areas.

WHOA!!
No offense, but I never thought exhaust tips could get that bad! (forgive my ignorance, I've lived in Sunny SoCal my whole life)
GREAT job on polishing them up though, they look almost better then the day they came out of the box. Good job.

Anyways, that was just a basic polishing, much more work is necessary to completely clean these up. They are still holding up quite nicely (since I posted). I am going to clean as much as I can in spring.

haha. maybe it was because the vendor i got it from screwed up the order a little (and had to resend the right thing)? *shrugs*
anyways, i think any cotton applicator or a raggedy cloth should be ok for getting it on. but i am kinda guessing.. you need to work in the polish without turning the applicator... i would expect that the cheapest possible "cotton" applicator should do the job ok.

I had no idea this thread was still alive. When I ordered mine it came in a box with 2 cotton cloths and a pair of rubber gloves. I am glad to hear that everybody seems to be getting the same results I did. I polished the strakes with it also. Now they are like a mirror. This stuff kicks a$$. Time for spring cleaning.
