Left over wax
#4
It may be caked on because it's dried up on the paint--try spraying it with a QD or water to moisten it and then wipe it off. I bet a clay bar would also get it off. If nothing else, try using Meguiar's Paint Cleaner (Step 1 of 3) since it's technically supposed to remove existing layers of wax before re-polishing/re-waxing.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of wax are you using?

if it's on the little plastic lip at the edge of the hood I get it in there some times when I'm not careful. I'll just wipe it good with a microfiber, if that doesn't work..., I gently use my fingernail.
That back to black stuff is great. I went a little crazy the first (and only) time I used an orbital buffer, had white marks all over the plastic parts. back to black fixed it up nice and pretty.

not the paint..., it's that plastic bit that I used it on. but I will use the qtip on the paint. At this point a fingernail mark doesn't matter. damn cats and squirrels. scratches everywhere. I'm not going to worry about waxing anymore until I get my ne clear coat
