Online wax comparison: Zaino wins again, dammit

I was browsing through the Autopia website and came across this link that compared a number of waxes, including Nanowax, NXT Tech and Zaino (and yes, Zaino won). Thank goodness I FINALLY found some kind of comparison between Nano and NXT...

http://forums.roadfly.org/forums/det...5256389-1.html

Aside from Zaino (I'm forever ISO the best OTC product for titanium gray), would others who have tried these products agree with these findings? I've only used Meg's NXT Tech so far but was thinking about looking into the Nano. Any other suggestions for good waxes that produce a great gloss for the lighter colors?

The best part of this testing for me is, all they did was slap some Z2 on without the prep work. I.E. Clay, Z1 or ZFX. The results would have been even better if they would have done the Zaino properly. But.... the way they tested it is fair because the Zaino was applied the same way that the others were applied.

Um they say "The panel was washed with Dawn, clayed twice (using Wayne's Towels new clay bar), washed, wiped down with PPG PrepSol, and washed with Dawn. A final wipedown with a 50/50 concentration of 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and water ensured there was no residue left on the panel."

So I think they did do a proper prep. And Zaino rules, nothing new here.

What's really sick, is that he didn't use ZFX or Z-1 with the Zaino and it still P0wd everything else.

Note: People at my work are amazed the my BLACK zaino'd rx-8 is always clean..
(dust it daily and wash every other week).

Zaino is simply amazing.

It's too bad Zaino seems to be so expensive. How much do you pay for all your Zaino products combined, and how long do they last on average?

Zaino is very inexpensive over time. One bottle of Z2 lasts me approx 4 years (doing two cars) - Can't beat that, anywhere. You use such a small amount and it lasts so long that its hard to compare to any other wax/polish system.

The INITIAL cost may seem high, but broken down by usage over the years it is very economical.

I bought the zaino kit for $120 (had the leather stuff), and it's lasted 6 months so far. I was waxing my car once a day for a while.... judging by what I have left, I can go at least a year more. The problem is the zaino spray was not applied properly. I was wetting the whole car with it. So I ran out of that a while ago

Wow, that's really not that bad for the products to last between 2-4 YEARS. I just visited their website and that's hard to believe because the bottles don't look that big. Also, does that include 10 - 100 layers like some extreme enthusiasts seem to do? What color are your 8s, just out of curiosity? I've just heard that Zaino works better for dark-colored cars, and I have a titanium grey 8. So far I've been using only NXT but was considering topping that w/ s100.

Actually Zaino works great on light colored cars (I have A silver 8). I now have 12 coats of Zaino on my RX-8 and 12 coats on my Girlfriend's 2000 Miata (silver too). and still have 2/3 of a bottle of Z2 left.

It takes a different mindset when using Zaino - LESS is better.

when using Z6 (detail spray) a light mist goes a long way as well.

I know many have already seen my car, but here's some samples of what Zaino looks like on a silver.

oh and I almost forgot...those pics of Jason's car Look EXACTLY like mine...but I use Meguirs NXT...right now I see no difference between the two... I guess the advantage of the Zaino is it may last longer while the NXT advantage is it is much cheaper and a little bit easier to apply and removes. I go with NXT since I wax my car ever 3 weeks anyway so it doesn't matter

Heh, little tidbit, but Jason, I noticed you also have your convex mirror on the upper left-hand corner of your driver's side mirror. I did the same thing but always wondered if I shoud have put it on the lower left b/c either I'm used to it being in that corner with my previous cars or else it somewhat distracts me when I'm trying to look in the regular mirror.

Your car looks great Zaino'd, BTW. I'm probably going to finish my NXT bottle, possibly experiment with topping it with s100, b/c unlike that Roadfly online test, I've found NXT to have pretty good durability. After I'm done with the bottle, though, I'll more seriously consider giving Zaino a shot...

I would have gotten the app package if they had a car with GT + Navi, but it's hard getting what you want on the lot with navi. So yeah, aftermarket bodykit one of these days. I'm trying to hold off until the car is fully paid for though.

I used to put it on the inner part of the window because I usually keep the mirrors angled so I can see part of the car... but I decided for the outer area because then it would have a slightly better vantage point. I used the upper corner because the cars are on the road and not in the sky. I didn't want the little mirror to block the side view mirror of the cars.

Damn, that's very shiny. Your rims/tires look great, too. I'm assuming you also use Zaino products on them as well?

Zaino is great on Silver. Looked fantastic on my Silver FD!

Frankly, it looks pretty damn good on my Velocity Red 8 as well, after only one coat!
