Restoring Black Plastic Trim on the Rear Bumper
My bumper trim is starting to look white on the exhaust shrouds. I am assuming this is a result of the heat from the exhaust drying out the shrouds. Anyways, I am looking for a product to make them look like new. I have tried Aerospace 303, which works great except on the shrouds, Mother's back to black, and will soon be trying Klasse plastic treatment. I am looking for something that I don't have to apply every week I wash the car because it is time consuming. Will Forever Black trim dye work well on our bumper? I also heard that Black Wow isn't very good. If none of these will really work, would replacing the shrouds be a near perfect match to the rest of the bumper? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mine are doing the same thing....I've just accepted the fact that if I want to have aftermarket exhaust, they are not going to be perfect....
I guess I could extend the tips...

I second back to black. It also helps to work it in with some love, in the shade when the surface is cool.
Now if its from exhaust heat its may not be very repairable, maybe some spiffy chrome exhaust finishers, or some new plastic ones as suggested.

i actually use a tire gel spray thats meant to make the tires look all black and shiny. Well i tried in on the back plastic trim and it worked wonders. Since its a gel and more oil based it really soaks and smooths on the look and mine is so shiny it almost has a gloss black look to it which looks great against my sunlight silver 8

Haven't really noticed much whitening between washes since I started to use Turtle Wax ICE on my black bits. The shrouds come out looking deep black but not shiny and they stay that why for at least 8 months. It also helps with the water spotting issue on the lips below the fake grills.
I've used ICE with both the stock and my Greddy and all was good. Maybe a combination of Back to Black and ICE would be a good solution. One makes it black the other protects it.

i used 99% alcohol and it never came back, i tryed 70% - 80% and that didnt work, try 99%, its really from the waxs and cleaners that make it like that, you have to strip it off

Meguiars NXT has a purple spray bottle that works REALLY well for black parts. Apply a small amount on a cloth or applicator pad and you should be fine.
