someone came on my headlights
it looks like that anyway...
when i put my clearbra on i stupidly did not wash the baby shampoo off the headlights immediately. i let it dry on overnight. afterwards, i couldnt get it off... -_-
yesterday i removed a sticker from my rear window and put a new sticker on there. USMC. i removed the old gunk with goo gone.
as i was passing my headlights i thought hey, lets try this goo gone on the headlights. instead of trying it on a corner i sprayed it over the whole headlight.
it got really foggy and the paper towel got all yellow. which i assume was the baby shampoo. but.. the headlight is now all foggy. my brilliant idea was to spray more goo gone on it.
flabbergasted i got the wd-40 and a bit came off. but in the center where i really layered the stuff, it's not coming off.
any ideas on how to clean the headlights?

I'd try rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. Stronger than WD-40.
You might also try to wash it with dishwash soap (ie. Dawn). That usually works at getting other soaps/protectants off.
Just be careful not to get dawn or alcohol anywhere other than your headlight.

not sure if it would work but seems to work pretty well on grime/oxidation. a bit expensive but cheaper than a new headlight if the home remedies don't work...

If the lens was partially dissolved causing a real foggy look, locate you some Micro Mesh . It goes from 1000 grit to 6000 grit. Sand it with the micro mesh . Try the 6000 grit first and see if it is smoothing the surface. Add a little of liquid soap for lubricant for the micro mesh. Once it is smooth, polish it with the liquid polishing stuff that comes in the kit. I would try Meguires liquid PLASTX first. It works great on my headlight lenses.

Meguiar's PlastX is basically like a liquid sandpaper with diminishing abrasiveness - it should work to de-spooge your lights, and a bottle of it is only like $8 or so. But, be prepared to rub the hell out of it (sounds like you already did, zing!), because you've really gotta put some elbow grease into it.

if you want to go out and buy some products... i recommend the stuff below... use a drill with the power ball to buff... it will get your headlights looking like new...

wow some of these answers are horrible, dont use rubbing alcohol, and dont use some crazy rubbing compound (it wont be enough to resurface the lens), theres a good chance youll just damage them more. Ive had a lot of experience cleaning our headlights, start with 600 grit sandpaper (wet) and run it across the headlight in one direction, not back and forth. Repeat the steps with soaking wet 800 grit, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000 (if you can find it) on a wet headlight lens in one direction everytime, then use some plastic polishing compound (autozone) and rub back and forth in small sections. Use the plastic polish about 4 times, and you should be looking at clear headlights. Dont get discouraged if after the 1500 or 2000 its still foggy, the compound will clear them. You need to resurface the headlight basically it sounds like, but you dont need a new one from fogging from goobeegone. good luck, take your time, it works like a charm
