Trying out Liquid Glass polish

After some researching, I decided that I only needed a decent car polish as opposed to the time and money required for the fan favorite Zaino. A bunch of people had favorable comments abuot Liquid Glass so i decided to try it as I was sick of real waxes getting into every seam and being almost impossible to remove. Having never seen a Zaino'ed car, I guess I can't really compare, but this stuff worked pretty well and two coats went on in about a half hour each (with four hours in between coats as per the directions). Trying to photograph it so as to actually show anything meaningful is difficult, as I'm sure any recently waxed/polished car would look similar, but I think these came out OK especially in regard to the color reproduction which has been difficult with the blue. I think you really need to take pictures a little before sunset (or after sunrise) to get the proper value/saturation. It was about 7:15PM ET when these were taken. Hope you like 'em.

Doh. Now that I think about it, this may belong in the "Show and Shine" forum. It's up to you mods.

Looks terrific. I'm impressed. Those are some of the best pics of the blue I've seen, as far as really reproducing what it looks like.

Anyway, the LG did a nice job on that car. Looks as good as Zaino in that pic, anyway. Waiting four hours in between coats would irritate me though. I like to go ahead and get stuff done. Impatient I am. With Z2 and ZFX accelerator, you only have to wait 30 minutes before buffing and then can immediately put on the next coat. So, I'm not sure how much easier it is to do Liquid Glass as compared with Zaino.

However the Zaino prep is a pain - Dawn wash, clay, Z7 wash, THEN polish with gloss enhancer in between coats.

Regardless, the LG looks great!

Liquid Glass

Yes, Liquid Glass is AWESOME! I have used it many times and will do the same with my new RX-8.

I used meguairs, and it doesn't look near that good. Do I have to take off the old wax before I try LG?

Yes, you're supposed to wash off everything prior to using LG. They sell their own brand of pre-treatment washing liquid, but I just used regular stuff.

I've used Zaino, but it was too much work. Can you expand on why you don't like LG?

the **** i.e --da bomb--the bee's knees-- all that and a bag of chips-- two snaps up and a pat on the muffin. In other words he really liked it but no one carries it in his area any more.

That's good to know, thanks. I definitely have C.I.D.

Do you think it would be easy for a first time waxer to use liquid glass? (keep in mind that generally i tend to view washing and waxing as a tedious pain in the ***)

Absolutely. I am by no means a professional auto detailer. I just hated regular waxing and heard that these synthetics are easier and give better results. LG was very easy to use, though i wasn't sure how heavy to apply it at first because the haze you wipe off isn't very uniform across the car, but I ended up using it sparingly and it seemed to work fine.

Ok, I'm tired of getting wax residue everywhere as well!

Once I finish my bottle of Meguires I'm off to get some LG.

The Meguires works really well if you use LOTS.

I did a second coat on my hood and used it sparingly, BAD IDEA!

now it looks like someone painted my hood unevenly. Of course you can only see it in the sun, but some parts are shinnier than others, looks bad. I'll have to redo it again in a week or 2.

Probably 2 weeks, when I prep the car for a wedding. At least the car is WELL protected with 3 coats of wax!

have any of you guys used Z best wax? That stuff works pretty good...imo. But you should always use the clay bar for best finish then add a layer of wax. I use my Z best wax on everything...cars, windows, many different surfaces, even my guitars :-D
