TW Ice Sponge Scratched the clear Coat...
My BB 06 Shinka is 6 weeks old.
At the recommendation of this thread, I purchased and used ICE.
I used it with the supplied Microfiber towel and Sponge.
Now my Finnish looks like I went over the whole surface with an SOS Pad....
I know that black is a bitch but now my car looks like it's 10 years old and
never cleaned!
I think it was the sponge-pad that came with the kit...

ahh, ic Z-PC is an abrasive. there's just so much to choose from zaino it gives me a headache. i just think i could spend the same money on less products. so i look at different companies such as pinnacle, poorboy, menzerna, and sonus for all this. autopia.org rocks!

Zainoed my white car, its def not as shinny as some white cars I've seen on the road, but that could change as I apply more coats on it. OVerall i am very happy with zaino, it leaves the paint silky smooth for a long time. Oh one thing I might not do again is to apply Z5 + Z2 + Z6 on the windshield.. haha for some reason it sticks dirt like a magnet...
After a week with a lot of dirt on my car, the paint is still silky smooth and the dirt comes off VERY VERY easily. Washing the car is gonna be SUper easy from now on, i m luving it. Looking forward to my next application! Oh btw any Zaino users out there, 1/4 ounce can do the whole car with 3 coats, just use as little as u can, thats wat it recommand on the site anyways, it takes a lot longer to dry if u apply a lot and the result i'd say is the same.

Yeah, those are all great products from what I read too. Some maybe are better than Zaino, just never tried them.

I have an old 93 323 as well as the new 8; tried ICE on the black rubber bumper of the 323. When I first put it on hey looked new, beautiful, but after a couples of minutes it dried and just left them kind of whitish, So I got some old English Scratch cover for dark furniture - looked great and lasted a day or so...

I'm mixed on this one. I tried it on my Toyota Tundra today and the shine is nice, very nice. i applied it to the whole truck and after an hour and a half I had to wipe this stuff off WET! I couldn't believe it, almost 2 hours in 90 degree and the whole truck is still wet. I had to rub my *** off to get this s@#t off. Don't know if I'll use it again.

After reading the posts on this board, I made sure to let my Turtle Wax ICE dry for 30-40 minutes. I was impressed that the "wax" did not leave a residue on plastic, however, I had a very difficult time removing it from the paint. The finish was covered with very small "water spots." They came off, but not without a fight.
My overall opinion...ICE goes on super easy, comes off tough, shine IS good. Seemed like nearly as much work as my standard Meguiars wax.

I read this thread while I was at Walmart today, about to pickup another bottle of NXT Speed Detailer. (I go through 1 bottle a week). But I came home with the ICE wax and ICE detailer due to the comments here. At first I was hesitant because they were 50% more expensive than NXT and less oz, but I was hoping they would make life easier for me...
Better for frequent users than NXT
ICE wax works really well in my case, since I do not have a garage and need to detail the vehicle 5-6 times weekly (black, dusty+windy, dried brown water spots all over every morning). There is also no shade where I work, so a product that works in direct sunlight is extremely helpful. The consistency of ICE is like Baby Oil. It is more forgiving than NXT when starting to dry and easier to buff off. Also while buffing, it does not cake up on the microfiber cloth like NXT, so there is less need to keep flipping the cloth.
ICE or wax?
The packaging on ICE says to "stop waxing, start ICEing" or something like that. But it is clearly marketed as a wax replacement.
Results
NXT Spray Wax/Tech Wax can be a bit cloudy at times, and is time consuming to get the shine back on those occasions when it doesn't want to cooperate. It looks like ICE is just the thing I needed. While using ICE, I saw a truck enthusiast applying NXT to his vehicle, and he was happy to take my bottles of NXT Speed Detailer, NXT Spray Wax, and NXT Tech Wax. I told him I had switched to ICE. There's really no sense using the rest of my NXT--it just means time lost and needless work.
Thanks for the heads up on ICE. My life feels a lot easier now.

NXT Spray Wax is totally different from NXt Tech. NXT spray wax is more like a quick detailer but witht he hassel of rewaxing. NXT Tech Wax is more of a sealant that lasts a long time and can be layered.

I tried Ice a couple times and after I ditched the foam applicator sponge
that came with the kit, the product worked better. The sponge made my
finnish look like I'd gone over the surface with steel wool.
I've since gone back to Zymol Cleaner Wax. Why?
Ice only lasts about 3 or 4 washes before it has to be reapplied.
If there are any water spots on the surface, Ice doesn't remove them, it
only covers them up.
Next up? When my current wax runs out I'll give Zaino a try.

please if youre going to use/test NXT. please dont get mixed up with NXT booster spray wax and NXt tech wax. teyre two completely different things. also rememebr to apply it on a clean prep surface (clay and polished) and results will be MUCH better if you layer it (3-4 layers... youll see and feel the difference) . if youre going to layer it please wait 24 hrs to top the previous layer so the sealant can cure.

Nice to see this thread has gone so far.
Also AWESOME to see so many different testimonials and opinions.
This is what this forum is all about.
By the way, here is the comnbination that I ended up going with. I bought my BB used and the previous owner did not take great care of the paint. I will actually ultimately have to take my baby to my father (nationally award winning restorer) for a complete buffing so that I can maintain it from there, but for now its...
WASH
Armorall Wax as you dry Gel
Turtle Wax Ice
Meguiers Quick Detailer
Once a month it gets NXT Tech Wax applied by hand and buffed off with 10" orbital.
I may try Zymol soon just to see!
Thanks again for everyone's input!

A little goes along way.
The first time I used it I put down way too much and it was a bitch to remove!
Now I use a quarter sized spot of wax on a wet Microfiber Sponge for each panel.
After it dries I wipe it off with a Microfiber Towel and go back over it with a damp
100% cotton cloth and Buff it before the surface dries with a clean Microfiber Towel.
That removes any oily residue left behind...
Good luck!

The only thing that you forgot is to apply in a "side-to-side" wiping motion.

I wouldnt be using ICE as a "wax" at all. I now have 3 coats of NXT as a base, and it looks great. I use the actual ICE wax as a detailer. Just put it on and wipe it off as it says. Takes about a half hour. This would make my previous spray detailers useless, but ICE does add a bit of protection and arguably lasts way longer than a spray detailer and its just about as easy.
ICE as good as say NXT or any other good synthetic wax. NO way.
ICE as a replacement to a spray detailer? Absolutely, but only if you have a good base.
I would use it as a good quick shine enhancer for the weekend basically.
I have yet to experiment with ICE by layering it up.
