now, what do i need.. basics for zaino? their packages seem a bit ridiculous... and the prices aren't really LOW either.

is it easy to use... time consuming?

The basic is some z-2... you could pretty much get buy with just that.

But you really should buy some ZFX to help it set faster, some z5 to restore your surface, some z6 to detail and add gloss between layers and when you dont want to wash, some z-18 claybar to prep your surface so you dont lock in all the dirt already on you veichle, and some z7 to make sure you take care of the great finish you car will have (most carwashes use industrial strength soap which dissolves you waxjob.)

z2 - 14.95
z5 - 16.95
zfx - 19.95
z6- 9.95
z7 - 8.95
z18 - 16.95

total = 87.70

package with everything listed & some applicator pads & free decal = 84.70

Its very easy to use, I have used turtle wax and Meguire's NXT, and Zaino removes easier than both of them, and with less residue.

Well, its a show car polish system, and does take about 2 or 3 hours just to get the surface prepped correctly and everything on. But it really does make any paintjob simply glow. Once its on, it seems to last forever, it just takes one solid weekend afternoon to get everything going. Once you run though the process the first time, its a bit tedius but after that the time just flys by once you get the hang of it. If you want to just put the polish on, you will be getting the zaino protection, and thats just 14.95, but the kit of $84 really is worth it if you want you car to look amazing. My car simply glows at night, its a perfect mirror in bright sunlight. My wax just never ceases to amaze my friends.

If you are intrested in that kind of reaction and are willing to spend some money and some time to get it, then zaino is for you.

If the time or money, and the getting the absolute best doesn't seem like what you want, then try Meguires NXT generation tech wax. It makes the finish deep and dark, but does not last nearly as long (frequent waxing needed if you wash your car alot and want the absolute best finish possible), doesn't remove blemishes as well, and doesn't shine as well.

Zaino:

Meguire's NXT Generation Tech Wax

Another:

Okay, the Meguires might look as shiny, but its not.

The zaino was taken in winter sunlight (farther from sun) at about 5 pm on a semi-cloudy winter day.

The Meguires was taken last September in full summer sun at about 11am.

The zaino pictures were taken on a Contax T3 on reala film metered for 18% greyish by using the concrete as neutral, the pics are beautiful and incredibly detailed and crisp, but the scanner I used was one i got free with my internet service 2 years ago, it doesnt even have its own power supply.

The Meguire's was taken with a Canon 1D, 35mm 1.4L lens metered for 18% grey.

LOADs of difference.

My baby's pretty dirty...finally decided to spring for some Zaino, particularly after seeing the prices. For some reason I kept thinking it was closer to $100 for a bottle of Zaino. $15-20 for a bottle of wax that probably lasts a year is nothing compared to the overall cost of the car! Got the Z1, Z2, and Z8. The ZFX just seemed so rididulous to prepare that it almost sounded like they're telling you to do all that mixing mumbo jumbo it make it sound more impressive than it really might be.

you only need ZFX if you want to build up multiple coats quickly or in very cold weather it reduces the drying time significantly
