Be Wary of That Dealership in OH
Hey, I tried to buy that R3 last week, and dealing with the dealership was a nightmare. I have bought and sold a ton of cars in my time, never had such a bad experience. You might have more success than me, but you've been warned haha!

There is a nice blue one in Philadelphia asking 14k with 52k miles on it. Then there is a red one in Colorado. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...9759496507572/
To me the red one is way over priced for mileage.. even with covid inflation.

I have a 2010 in Aurora Blue for sale in the Seattle area that I just pre-listed. Haven't put together a full ad yet, but I wanted to get the word out to the RX8 community before I went to a bigger site.

Also in the market for an R3
Hi folks,
I am looking to get back into an R3 after selling my 2011 a few years back. Looking nationwide. Ideal car would be a low-mile, 2011 car. Flexible on year however if the miles and condition is right. Cash buyer. If you have one or see one for sale please give me a heads up! Thank you!

Yep the one Ohio dealer is a stay clear. I tried to buy an rx8 from them. They said all the right things. Then when I wanted to pay for a compression test they told me it sold. Only to have them respond 3 days later to a online inquiry trying to sell the same car. Almost like they knew it was low on compression.

I wanted to ask, is the R3 a big improvement over a sport? I test drove a sport, liked it but wasn't willing to buy it. I do love the look of the r3 way better. And the handling of the sport was top notch. It's basically a Miata but with extra seats.
Seeing how rare R3's are now, is it cheaper to buy a Sport and just upgrade it?

I am in Southern California and also looking for a Black or Blue R3 around $15k depending on compression test and condition.
I would also prefer not to ship from another state because its costly; estimate of CA registration is $1.5k + shipping + chance of failing smog/visual inspection.
Also, to be honest, if you have an R3 that has a clean history, you should probably list it on CarsAndBids.com; it's free for sellers and a 42k mile Shinka went for $10k. Another option would be Carvana; I've seen some R3s on there for $15k-17k, but they're always immediately bought and usually have a 100 person waitlist.
But please ignore all that and sell it to me.

So I have owned a 2011 R3 and driven non-R3s. Honestly it is mostly a) better seats and b) cosmetics. So you could easily buy a non R3 and upgrade it. I am nostalgic for my old car so would like to pick up another 😊
Still looking btw

Thank you for replying. I think I might just leave the R3's to you lot and get a good Sport.(Maybe even a Series1 if the price is right.)

Yeah this is 100% true. The R3 seats are awesome.. way better than the leather GT seats. And then yes.. it's just cosmetic stuff after that.

Check out this listing on Autolist! https://www.autolist.com/listings/JM...aign=vdp-share
Found a R3! However it has some modifications you may or may not like.

That thing looks like it’s been abused.. wouldn’t touch that with a 15ft pole

Looks like it's the same one listed here: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sg...388844614.html
Looks like it's been majorly messed with, and I think he installed a turbo in it? Not really what I'm looking for, but maybe somebody will be interested in it.

I have a Blue R3 for you.
I've got a beautifully cared for 2009 R3, Blue, 89k miles. Has had paint on Drivers side as someone tried to change lanes on me but it's been done very well, used my friends shop who's been open 20 years and does great work - he has painted all my race cars and bikes over the years. Unnoticeable. No structural damage. It is however having 3rd gear trouble. At best it's a $150 gear, at worst, it's a $1500 transmission. I can't afford to fix it currently. But the car is beautiful, and garage kept by a mechanically attentive owner. Always run on real fuel not E-10. I had to replace a clogged catalytic converter a couple years back but other than that no problems until this 3rd gear issue. Car is in Alabama. I hate to sell it but 2021 has been unkind. Comparable vehicle (but without transmission problem, gray, and with more miles) listed for $10,900 in Georgia. PM me an offer if you're interested!
