FS: 04 VR GT in Jacksonville, FL (SOLD)
SOLD!!
Hey All,
The time has come to part w/ the 8. Since I love being a part of this community, I wanted to offer it to you guys before trading it or listing it somewhere else. Lots of pics and some of the history of this car can be traced through this website by weeding through the posts of myself "jstkilntim" & "goforwand", the original owner of this car.
This car has been adult owned & driven, properly maintained and garage kept since new. This includes regular maintenance, all TSBs/recalls, consistent use of Zaino and always parked in BFE when out in public. I have a company truck, so this was pretty much my weekend car. This car always turns heads and never stops getting compliments wherever I am.
On to the specifics.
It is a 2004 Velocity Red Mica Grand Touring w/ about 43,000 miles. As most of you know, the GT comes standard w/ HID head lights, DSC, limited slip differential, 300 watt 9 speaker Bose system, moonroof, auto dimming mirror w/ HomeLink, leather interior (red & black), heated seats, power driver's seat etc.
This car has over $10,000 in upgrades that include:
Full OEM Mazda Speed Body Kit (front, skirts, rear & spoiler) properly painted VR Mica & Gun Metal Metallic
RX-8 Strakes Carbon Look Fender Vents
Clear Corners
Ray's Graham Light 57 Pros 18X8, +40 offset Metalcoat Finish
Goodyear Eagle F1 245/40/18 (probably around 1000 miles on them)
Racing Beat REVi Intake & Cat Back Exhaust System
Racing Beat Swaybars & Endlinks
KW Variant 3 Coilover Suspension & all new bushings
Goodridge SS Braided Brake Lines
Red Brake Calipers
28% Tint
Console Armrest Pad
Redline Trans fluid, diff fluid & water wetter
RX-8 Strakes LED interior & trunk lights (red)
Sound Dampened Trunk
Rockford Fosgate Rear Tweeters
MS CF License plate frame
New Ignition Coils & Gas Cap
It is not a perfect car, but you will be hard pressed to find a nicer 04. However, there are a few things worth mentioning that I would want to know about if I were looking.
1. The biggest problem w/ this car is the rock chips that accumulate on the front bumper and a couple on the hood. Anyone w/ an 8 knows this. I kept them touched up for a while but couldn't keep up.
2. There are a few scrapes on on the front lip. All are touched up w/ paint. Not noticable from a distance, but they are there.
3. One small ding in the rear passenger door. I bought it like this. The paint is not chipped or scratched. It would probably come out if someone tried. It is barely noticeable, so I never tried.
4. Interior wise there are a few scuffs etc in some of the plastic. To my knowledge, all leather is perfect w/ the exception of a couple scuffs on the steering wheel.
5. I have removed all of my audio equipment from the car. The rear deck trim has 6 1/2" speaker cut outs (& grilles) but the stock Bose speakers in the deck. The stock tweeters would not cover the holes I had made, so I put my Rockford Fosgate tweeters in instead. The amp is also painted metallic red. There are speaker wires from the trunk to the front doors (through the molex) in case you want to upgrade. There is also a hole in the trim panel under the head unit where my bass **** was. This will probably be replaced by time the car sells since it drives me crazy.
I'm sure I will think of more things to post as time goes on, but I wanted to get it out there. My price is pretty firm. I have been offered close to this from a dealer but they can't get what I want. Stock cars are easily going for $13,000+, so w/ over $10K (not including labor) in upgrades, this car is a steal. Someone could spend less than $1000.00 to repaint the body kit and this car would be as near perfect as any 2004 automobile out there.
I know there will be some price nay sayers, but please let me know if you have any questions.
Doyle

The car is not quite as low as it is in these pictures. It had Racing Beat Springs, but they were too low to get proper camber so I installed the KWs and raised it to the low side of what the factory recommends for the sport suspension.

Today was a historical day for me. It was the first (and last) time I have ridden in the passenger seat of my 8 and the first (and last) time I have seen the car drive off without me.
Board member benduen should be showing up in the Orlando area w/ it soon. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his family. I want to say that they are a welcome addition to the 8 community, but this will be his 3rd one and has been around a while. Look forward to seeing him around.
Funny story: I spent all morning w/ Zaino to ensure the car was perfect the first time he saw it. He stepped out of his car, we shook hands and w/in (litterally) a few seconds, a seagul **** right on the hood. Don't know what that means, but hope you enjoy the car Ben.

Doyle, it was a pleasure dealing with you. You and the original owner did a great job taking care of this car and you can trust I will continue the tradition of spoiling this car with care, attention, and toys...
I truly don't know what the seagull shitting on the hood could symbolize ( that was a first in car buying for me). Maybe the Zaino gods were trying to show off the protecting attributes of the product you just put on.
Anyways, I did secure a temp tag and will be mailing your plate back shortly.
If anyone is looking for buyer's feedback in purchasing your leftover mazda parts, let this serve as proof you're a reputable seller.
