FS: 2006 RX-8 Black Shinka
I love my car but I'm going back to nursing school... I'll get her back someday!
This stock car has 15,900 miles on her - 90% highway, as her primary use was to commute back and forth to work. I've been her only owner (bought October '06). I have detailed maintenance records - oil has been changed on schedule every 3K miles, all maintantance is up to date, I have never allowed smoking in my car. The only problem I had with her were the front tweeters and those were replaced under warranty... which she still is covered by. The Sirius subscription will be up for renewal in April.
She is kept under a car cover, so she's practically brand-spankin' new! I'll be Zaino-ing her as soon as my shipment comes in... I'll have pics ready soon. I live in Mesa, AZ and am more than happy to meet up if you'd like to see her in person.
PM or email me for more information; her asking price is $25,000.

i think your asking price is too high esp. since you have 16000 miles on it. even if its in excellent condition, the most you could get is probably $ 20k. check the blue book value.

An 06 Shinka w/ 16k miles? 25k is high - but 21 is reasonable. I know its a big kniock off what was paid, but local dealers are offering new 07's sports with spoiler and sunroof for 25,995.

No, they most certainly don't give you the "fair" market amount. Last year I took my Integra to Carmax where they showed me the book value (they rated the car "excellent"), and even added $600 to the amount. Within a week I sold it (private party) for almost double the price they were going to give me. KBB, Edmunds, Galves, etc.- those aren't bibles, they're simply guides and for many cars their appraisals are way off.
Good luck on your search of trying to find an '04 (that isn't beat up) for $10 or $12K.

10-12 may be a bit low but 14-16 with <50k miles in good condition is not even close to out of the question for an 04 There are leftover 06s brand new going for ~23

For what it's worth, a local dealership here quoted me $34000 (MSRP) plus about $4000 in rebates for a new '06 Shinka (total around $30k.)
Relatively speaking, $25000 may be a decent price, then, for a used one.

25k for a car that's less than a year old and already has 16k+ miles (probably racking up more since it's most-likely a daily driver car) is a but much for 25k. Which seems to me that the 25k is what she owes on the car still. If you do the rough math, it would be around there. Which makes me believe it's still on lien holding and she's trying throw the loan to someone and have them pay it off (25k FS price).
I'd think around 20-22k would be the better price... also waiting on her reply via e-mail from last week asking about the pics and this info/VIN but no reply yet.

Methinks it would be worth showing a quote from one of those dealers to my local guy and seeing what he says!
Do you have a link to their site?

However, I agree... an '07 Grand Touring is $31k new, -$4k cash back... puts you at 27k before negotiations even start with the dealer.
An '06 Shinka with 18,000 miles, according to KBB, is valued around $21k in my state.

Well, the emblem on the side. Don't get me wrong, there's some cool stuff already on it if you're just going to buy it stock and leave it as that. I know I thought it was cool because of the "Shinka edition" with all the added features but then I really broke it down to what I wanted to do and in the end, I'm going to be modding the crap of of my 8 when I get one.
You're right though - if you're planning on modding it, the Shinka is not the way to go.
I'm planning on making no real modifications (which could change, based on what I learn in this forum), myself, so the Shinka still makes sense, if it's for the right price.

Shaz... yeah. I am quite sorry about the delay in getting that info to you. There's been some stuff come up and I've gotta put my plans on hold. But thanks for your interest - I'll contact you if I put her back on the market soon.
