yup...it is probably something simple.....I just don't want to be throwing hundred dollar parts around.
Spark plugs
coils
RP Supercat
RB Flash
of those parts, I would think that it would most likely be plugs, then supercat.....if that didn't resolve the issue, I would most likley suspect coils....and then be forced to have my car "un"-flashed.

Keith:
Here's the order I would attack the problem with:
- Spark Plugs
- Ignition Coils
- Supercat
- RB Flash
The plugs can be easily changed, I think you can order them online for under $100
After that, you can always take a meter to the iginition coils to see if they're still functioning within spec.

update.....on mileage (81,600) and pricing (15.3k).
I called for a payoff and 15,356 takes the car as it sits. A second buyer did have the car inspected by his mechanic. Results (not too surprising, just normal maintenance stuff).
Car needs:
oil change
trans/diff fluid change
set of spark plugs
third brake light bulb is out
He also recommended an alignment. This may be a good idea anyways, as I have a really agressive track alignment, and you really could take alot of the camber out, and set toe back to 0, and save tire wear.
Mechanic indicated that car is strong, and surprisingly clean for a car with 80k miles. He was very impressed with the underside of the car when he had it on the lift. I had never been to a mechanic for a pre-sale inspection before, so I really had no idea what to expect.
Sale went sour when the car did not pass smog. I had never had to smog the car before, so I was completely surprised when it didn't pass. Mechanic was confused with the results, because the numbers indicated everything was working, but the emissions were too high. He questioned me about my catalytic converter.
The RP cat should be swapped out for a stock catalytic converter just for smog, then can be replaced back on car.
Also, a set of spark plugs was recommended.

Just for curiosity, I checked a stock GT RX8 with 81,600 miles, to see what Kelly Blue Book values the car (stock)....
price range for private party was 13,200 (fair) to 15,800 (excellent)
14,700 was the value assigned for (good).
I honestly would assess the car in the (good) category....so 14,700 plus all the mods done to the car.....15,356 seems a reasonable amount to ask for the car, especially because I have already indicated what the condition of the car is, it's history, as well as what a mechanic just indicated is needed for the car. (just normal maintenance items).
Regardless of payoff amounts in the future...I will not go lower than 14,500. Anything less than that is just insulting.

Just had an oil change done......will be putting in new front brake pads soon. Car is no longer my daily driver, so it is getting much time to just chill in the garage.

isnt your price lower now... you might want to consider a new thread with a lower price in the title.
