Pics of our midpipe

Here are a couple pics of our midpipe/racepipe for the RX-8. Its a perfect fit and no need for a hanger. Our resonated pipe and high flow cat fit the same.

Question

Dumb ? but since there is no cat involved, will this midpipe throw a cel?

The odds are that it will throw a CEL. I have had customers with the resonated and high flow cat with no CEL.

Hi,
We dont make them here so the shop would need a car to test fit the hanger. That is something I have been trying to get them to make, but its been taking them a while.

I'd be interested if it had a hanger.

I just installed my resonated mid pipe. be sure to buy the cat back gasket and the manifold to cat gasket if you do decide to go catless.

I have a borla cat back system and like jason stated a few times there is no need for the hangers at all.

I have a cel light as we speak but, I still have to clear it with my scanner and I will go from there.

all in all, I love my 8! she sounds like my old 7's!!!!

You will always have CEL with a midpipe.

ramzesgd pmed ya back.

^^^ I'm pretty sure I will. when I first installed the resonated midpipe I had f'ed up gaskets to begin with. my 8 was LOUD *** hell with a major exhaust leak. I wasn't happy at all. the cel light didn't come on after a good full day of driving it hard. I then ordered the gaskets and installed them and WOW! what a difference the car sounded great! no leaks, not loud at all during warm up/idling, and just the perfect rotary buzz I missed from my previous 7's.

Went for a tech inspection today and sure enough...the midpipe is rattling against the transmission brace right near the dynamic damper. The pipe had some scuffing and a shiney part of the brace was apparant. I took a crowbar and pushed the "lip" of the brace away from the pipe and the buzzing rattle sound has gone away. Dont know if its a fitment issue w/ my car or what, but thought I would share the info.

Nope...nature of the beast...ECU figures out based on your driving habits that something is amiss in the O2 levels. For a final solution get a hiflow cat.

I just instaled resonated midpipe. And like GAMBEAN said - you need to have brand new gaskets. Its very loud on old one's. I orderd gaskets, so hope sound will go down.
Im looking also for a hanger, this will maybe make sound quiter as well. Anyone know whre i can get one ??
Oh, no CEL . And one more thing, i dun know how many hp that pipe gave me, but for 100% i can fell the difrence in performance.

It should quiet down over time...or perhaps I became used to it...

For hangers just take it to a muffler shop and ask they weld some on...its not going to quiet it down tho...

The CEL will appear after a few miles...I think it took at least a few hundred for mine...popped up after a HPDE on the way back from college station.

I just installed my resonated midpipe along with the borla catback system. I too could definately feel a slight improvement, and it seems to be throughout the rpm range high and low. Mine through CEL within 10 miles. No biggie but I would expect a CEL even with the resonated pipe. Just waiting on my ram air now ; )

agreed. I had a cel for about 150 miles, then she went away for about 3 weeks! now the cel is back. i believe it had to do with the outside temp and also my driving habits as evilwinkie said. the weather in long island, n.y. has been nice the past month. (above 65 degrees)

I used two spark plug defoulers from napa to fool my CEL..... learned the trick from my ol mazdaspeed. You drill one out, i think 3/8in and thread the other one into it, then instert the o2 sensor into the defouler then put it in the mid pipe, vuala no CEL.....if peeps got questions ill find the DIY
the reason this works is it distances the o2 about an inch further away from the main stream, so in turn the air is slightly cooler and densor, not by much, but enough to make the o2 sensor think there is more oxygen then Co2.....

Another thing, the second o2 is ONLY for emissions checks within the vehicle, it doesnt perform ANY tuning whatsoever, only the first one does. the exhaust is too cold by time it reaches the second o2 to matter.
