3rd Annual RX-8 Descent on Road Atlanta March 16, 17, 18 2007 with NASA-SE

It would depend on the boost I would run with their engine. Most likely I could get somewhere between 500 to 700 rwhp, most people are getting 650 rwhp easily with a VQ35 built motor and my TT set up. Yet, I would be the first with both the short block and heads from Cosworth. Most people get one or the other on their car. So I could get a crazy amount of power from this car, but I could turn down the boost so it would drive in the 550rwhp range (about 100 rwhp more than I had before). Can you image reaching 150mph before turn 9 at RA? Although I think this car might scare the **** out of me for the first few times on track!
As far as the Cosworth, everything they sell is built by them, even the bolts. So that is why I am leaning towards them, they build race engines for 20,000rpm and 900 hp - so they know exactly what they are doing with an engine.
This is exactly why I was still smiling at RA after my blown engine - just another oppourtunity to have fun with the car!

Mike, I can't wait to see it. Let me know if you go up to Z1 for a look-see. BTW, I just signed up for the August Road Atlanta event. No "instructor" class for HPDE 4, so I signed up for TTE, which is where I placed.

Lego - you know that the same TimeTrails that yourself, TA, and I where in last year at RA is being held that weekend with NASA? They are running it a little different, they are using you TT times from NASA over the weekend to qualify, you should take some time to sign up with them as well. Only problem is your car will classed the same as mine as they only look at your tires instead of the Power to Wieght ratio like NASA uses.

Just find your number in the run group you where in. There is a picture with both TA and TA2 together. It is under TA2 gallary.

Thanks for the link, the pics are sweet.
Mood, glad to see you're seeing a sweet silver lining over the March event cloud.
About 150 into 9, I think that if you would have taken 7 at max speed and stood on it all the way down you would have made that or very close to it with the prior setup judging by the ride you gave me last year.
To put even more clout to the Cosworth name. The engine that really put them on the map was the Ford / Cosworth DFV V8 developped for Colin Chapman in 1967 and initially installed in the Lotus 49. It was designed by Cosworth and built by Ford
DFV Stood for Double Four Valve (As in 32V DOHC) and as a 3 litre unit in produced over 400 BHP naturally aspirated from the beginning.
That engine is known by old foggies like me as one of the winingest engines in all of racing and the winingest engine ever in F1.
In 1969 and 1973 every World Championship F1 race was won by DFV-powered cars, with the engine taking a total of 155 wins from 262 races between 1967 and 1985. Also, it powered the car winning the constructors F1 championship title as late as 1987. By 1987 it was a 3.5 litre unit producing 500+ reliable HP's all naturally aspirated.
Another plus on the DFV for me is that it's by far the best sounding engine aver made. Those of you coming to the Mitty should be able hear it signin' in a vantage F1 or Indy car.
Low boost High compression wouldn't that lead to better reliability and less heat? Just wondering.
Anyways I am looking to see the "Bionic" 350Z

Redoing the exhaust on the 7. I removed the RB street header, opened up the back part of the Y to 2.5 inches (2 inch to 2.5 inch), Sand Blasted and High Temp Painted. I don't know how long the paint will last, but it looks pretty cool now. Once it was dried, I installed the header and idled the car for a few minutes a couple of times in order to heat treat it since it wouldn't fit into an oven.
The downward pipe was spot welded on so that I don't burn up the bottom of the car on the way to the shop tomorrow. It'll be easily removed tomorrow in order to install the rest of the system.
For your entertainment (and mine... trust me ), I've taken a video of the car running with just the header in place. I've got to drive it to the muffler place like this so they can weld up everything else. During the video, I don't rev past 3.5K at all. Also, the only way I can stand it is by wearing ear plugs. It's so loud, it's incredibly painful!

Lego,
Great to hear the car running, and hope once you get the exhaust done you still don't have to wear earplugs!
His pictures don't show you event 1/10 of the parts! I think he could start a used tire and used parts company with all he has in there!

Those are from the old exhaust which is now gone. The new one is wonderful. I don't think she's very streetable now though. Draws a lot of attention. Kind of sounds like that Bridgeported car (Silverbullet). Doesn't have the BP lope, but just as loud. What she lacks in Horsepwer, she makes up for in abnoxiouness.
#567
So when you try to lay on the power your car will just get louder and not faster? That will prevent anyone from passing you since you will use your noise gun on them!

Probably not until I get my motor built
Speaking of my Motor build, TA2 you will be disappoint, but I will proably not be getting the Cosworth engine. Seems the VQ35 stuff by Cosworth is not holding up well on Z's, it might be the people installing it, but the same people are installing other high quality names and having great sucess.

and one of these days, I will post a video that is said to exist...about some round piece of asphalt, that has a little extra rubber down on it. then the thread will live a little longer.

just make it as quiet as your last motor, that was the best part, you could just barely hear it, and that would really annoy the vette boys as you go by them. tell them it is a hybrid.
#574
A hybrid - that is funny. The exhaust is going to change and the car is going to be a little louder, so sorry guys. But, it won't be still that loud compared to most american car standards.
