3rd Annual RX-8 Descent on Road Atlanta March 16, 17, 18 2007 with NASA-SE

Hey guys, I am coming to this freakin event. If I have to beg my buddy to drive his R32, I will do that. If someone would rent another Vette, then my friend would bring his T1 car for me to drive. I asked him to bring it down for the whole event, but it is just too much money for me to pay for one event. (6k). If someone else comes, then I can drive the vette for about 2k, which is not bad for a race prepped T1 car. Although it may be worth 6k for two days of lapping in a vette that can, in his words, lap RA in the 31's with ease, would be fun.

The really awkward thing about your car was the steering. No such thing as 6 & 9 in your car! It's more like..... 6, 9, 3, 12, 8, 4, 1, 8, 4, 9, 3, 6 and the funny thing is that it always straightn's out beautifully! Fun stuff!

Yeah, those 1st gen RX-7's don't have Rack and Pinion. It's a pitman arm design that's pretty loose.

This is gonna be such a fun time. I really hope STF will be joining us!
I am confirmed for March 10/11 at Road Atlanta as well now with the Peachtree BMW Club so I have 2 RA weekends back to back. Good stuff. I am not signed up for their Friday session though because of work conflicts. That would have been track overdose.

I will be there sporting my friends R32. He confirmed today. I am going to put in to instruct there.
It wil lbe different not having the Evo, but an R32 will be just FINE. I will look for some vids of him from the R32 event.

Having solved the starvation issues really eases my mind. Over the next 3 weeks I will have a set of Bilstein HD shocks installed on my car. Although not adjustable, they should be an upgrade over OEM and definitely be much better than my well worn OEMs.

I thought about the bmw thing but firgued it would be too much for me--
I will probably come up to watch.
STF i rode in a friends r 32 he used to have and that is one heck of a oem car. I would love too see one on the track. 4 wheel drift again huh?
Welcome all riders-- screaming alone is not as much fun. I hope to have a video set up in my car this time(about time right?).
Cant believe how much we have grown. Yall remember our 1st Panoz event?

Guys, you know friends don't let friends drive stock....I will be on Hoosiers or Nittos' (although the new BFG's have RAVE reviews), and the R32 is flashed w/ exhaust.....and the for the grand finale' ... OHLIN coil-overs. Yes, the big dollar ones. Also, he will be there with Adam O'Mally, someone who has rules written about him in the SCCA manual. He is some kind of track god from what Jon and Spencer tell me. He took Spencer's R, and was knocking on 1:50's WITHOUT TRYING. So, hopefully, I can get some 'instruction' from him while I am there. Not to mention, Spencer is the cat who drove the (Crown vic)LTD to the 1:50's on street tires. Granted, he puked the motor, but you either go hard, or go home....
Although I doubt I will see the 155-160mph the Evo used to do on the back straight. To be honest, not sure I am going to miss it, it was WAY to fast for a non-caged car.

The Roar race cars had a short shifter and when I drove one of those, it felt wonderful. You can easily switch gears using 2 fingers. i was very impressed. Rowing through all the gears was like going from 4th to neutral. Very quick and short. I loved it. That's my vote.

ok then--I wonder how it will work with the voodoo **** i have? the **** already makes it a lot shorter than stock(reduces height). But I have to admit that was what I was thinking also.
On lap timers--what is recommended and do they work on a gps or a transponder? Do you have to rent the transponder at the track--do you have to set one up yourself? how does that work?
Starting to feel it baby!
Got my cheap hoosiers mounted. the 225's are a little wider than the 235 RA's. Anyone want some 17" RA 1's(still have some life in them) for $50 for all four?
