There's not really any places in particular, unless you want to go to Sonic on beach blvd on Saturday nights, but there's a lot of rice there. Not a lot of 8's that attend.
We need to arrange something, but everyone's too lazy/busy.

Welcome to the club and the addiction! We haven't had any meets in a while. The rx7 folks are always broke down so they can't arrange anything ![Lol](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/lol.gif)

Yup, I am lazy, thats a fact. Saturday night Sonics is not for me, I'm to damn old to be playing with ricers (and its past my bed time). If you have any issues with your car, let me know; you can reach me on facebook or www.rotarycarclub.com quicker, since I find this site frustrating most of the time.

Well I use to have an 88' but it was a project car with a lot to be done. I didn't keep it long. Fun car though. I want an FD though. I'm not saying I'd get rid of the 8 but I do love the styling of that gen. I saw one for sale in Orlando looks clean but guess the guy said it doesn't run because it overheated? Anyone know anything about it?

If it over heated the engine is done, no question. So you are at least looking at rebuilding the keg, plus fixing whatever caused it to overheat in the first place. Fd's are finicky cars, if it were me I would spend extra to get one that has been taken care of, unless the price was very low. I personally like the styling of the 8 more, but thats just me. Do you have a link to the sales ad for it?

Well is 8k too much for something like that? What is a good price for a Fd with a blown engine? I was going to offer him 6. Here is the link. http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/3038691226.html
That engine compartment is a terrible mess. I hate dirty/cluttered engine bays. As a rule I try to remove anything I can get away with. Were they have put the battery is ******* dangerous. The damn thing isnt strapped down at all!! This car stops hard or gets in a wreck that thing is going to plow the driver.
Lots of little cosmetic things that may drive you nuts if you are OCD like I am. This is definitely a project car. I would not advise getting it unless you have a NICE paying job.

I would say that the price is not bad, but you WILL be spending a LOT more money to get it on the road. He overheated it because of a failed thermostat, and now based on his description the engine has no compression. You will be lucky to have any reusable parts in a overheated rotary. So your looking at around 4k for a quality rebuild unless you do it yourself.

OR.... should i just take my 8 and do things to it with the money I could be spending on a toy? I was told the renesis engine isn't that great to work with if you want to turbo or supercharge. That I should just buy a 7 if I wanted to have something like that.

I get what you are saying. I have plenty of time to work on it as I'm currently in school. Just moved back in with my parents so no rent. I saw the picture of the battery and it did look like an odd place to leave it. As far as the price of the rebuild how much would estimate for just the parts for the rebuild? I'm just trying to get an idea. So would I be better off playing around with a Fc vs. Fd? I know for price yes it's a lot cheaper, but for the end product which would come out on top?

The renesis does struggle with boost thats for sure, but reliability is coming a long way, as products and tuning improves. I know of two companies actively developing a complete 13brew swap kit, so that will be an option soon as well. My opinion is, you already have the 8, and know were it stands, I would keep it. But the biggest thing is to have a goal, see if what you have can make that goal and go from there. If you mod any car not knowing what kind of result you are looking for you will be disappointed 99% of the time.

ummmm who told you intake + exhaust got you that power? Your net power gains with those mods will = zero.. Okay, you MIGHT get 5 hp. Anything more than 200 hp on a n/a renesis without porting is a dream. 300 is doable, the greddy kit will get you that, and pretty reliably. Turblown says they have a 400+ hp kit that isnt dangerous to the engine, but I have not seen any proof of that either way. In term of playing on a track, IMO the 8 is a great contender stock. If you are serious about tracking the car, start doing it stock, so that you can maximize the benefit of modifications

thats the site for events. They host DGRR, the biggest and best rotary gathering on the east coast. Every spring we converge on us 129, tail of the dragon. It is a lot of fun. In terms of local track events, get with me on facebook and we can discuss it more there.
