Hey John, we're bringing about 10 cars from the Rawley group. If anyone in the Rawley area wants to caravan up to VIR...the Raleigh Rotary Drive In is meeting at the Cracker Barrel in Morrisville, just off of 40. Breakfast at 8, on the road by 930.

Wow! I didn't realize you guys had that many. Very nice! I don't suppose they are on the club.com judging by the responce to this thread. It'll be good to see you guys.
Come on Friday!

John,
I'll be there with another VR 8! I'll be in the RRDI group driving from Raleigh. It looks like a good time is going to be had this Friday at VIR. I hope the 8s rule, last year there was a bunch of mustangs out there.

Yes it was a absolute blast. They do this every year, so hopefully we can get more rotaries out there next year. It was pretty dang cold too, probably low 20's with the wind chill, but at least the sky's were cloudless. The racing rocked, this pace car wasn't as liberal with the speed as the one last year was. But there were a few moments where we reach 100 - 110 mph. Some even broke that when they had the room to catch up to the next car.
I could really tell the difference between the old 4 speed/4 port engine and the new 6 speed/6 port (left field comment - hmm add in the year 06 and you have 3 6's, this car has the mark of the beast!). I also got a chance to really feel the strength of the suspension also, I took section they refer to as the Climbing Esses at 90-100+ mph and the suspension really tightened up and really cut through those curves like they were butter.
Anyway, awesome day spent on the track, and we need more 8's out there next year to out-show up those Mustangs.

Lucky dog! I got in two, fuel light was on for my last one. So I ventured over to the $4 a gallon gas pumps! :0 Maybe next time I'll try the $7 a gallon racing fuel!!!

Yeah, I would have been able to make that last run too, cuz my wife had to take care of some things after work! And when I told her about having to leave without my last session she told me I should have just taken it. I wish I would have known that then! Oh well!!
Glad you had a good time John!

hehe, that's why I got there as early as I could. I wanted all the track time I could handle I already can't wait until next year and think I will definitly look into at least one of the instructor courses out there sometime next year.
I got some good video that I'm compiling into a DVD or two. John if you PM me your address I'll send you a c opy and I'll get a copy to Lance and Nic at one of the next RRDI meets.

That was a good video Gary! Your ease in the corners was evident over the T/A.
Why didn't we get any video's of our RX8's in front of the camera? I didn't think of it at the time with Nic's. Next time for sure!
