Atlanta Mazda Service
Just wondering what experience you guys have had with Atlanta mazda services, which shops are best, which are worst. About to take the baby in for her first oil change. Let me know if you guys see me between buckhead and stone mountain. Thanks.

I got mine at Jim Ellis in Marietta. I have had good experiences in dealing with their service department on my wife's MPV. I will definately do all my warrantee work on the RX8 there. However, I am at 1000 miles on my 2 week old RX8 that I got from there. I have been takin' it easy (under 4000 RPM) like Racing Beat's website suggests and will be changing the oil tomorrow or Tuesday so I can start driving her a bit harder. I plan on going to Mazcare. They are a bit south of Jim Ellis in Marietta off Cobb Parkway. They also have a coupon on their website for an oil change.

Yeah ... I bought from Jim Ellis Marietta and have been taking my cars there since 1990. Always have had great service and never any problems. When I took the 8 in for L and M flashes they were extremely accommodating and provided loaner vehicles.
I have used both Marietta and Chamblee for parts and both have always been extremely helpful.
Can't recommend Jim Ellis enough.

I bought mine at Stone Mountain Mazda on Hwy 78. I have nothing but good things to say about their service department. They always send me reminders of any service due along with discount coupons. Whenever I have had anything done; it's usually in and out. No Complaints...

I've had real good service from Stone Mountain Mazda also. I'm at about 15,000 so it's been in three or four times for oil changes, recalls and service bulletin items. They've always gotten the work done promptly and the service manager is real good about answering any quesions I may have. Mine came from Jim Ellis through a credit union auto-finder service also.

Sorry to revive this thread after almost three months, but I have 2 related questions:
1) Has anyone had any experience with Mazcare, as Nabil mentioned above? They're actually just a few streets from me, so I was considering going there but was not sure how long they took, if they were price competitive, etc. I'm overdue for an oil change but am not sure where to go. Any other recommendations in the Atlanta/Cobb County area?
2) To you Stone Mountain Mazda customers, how frequently do they send you coupons, etc.??? I purchased my 8 from them in August but haven't gotten any (except for a free first oil change).

Stone Mt Mazda-Coupons
It seems like I've been getting coupons from them about every other month. I'm on the free scheduled maintenance program for the first 3yrs/50,000 miles so I haven't really needed the coupons or watched that closely about how often they come. I'm at about 18,000 miles now and still happy with their service.

Under warranty, the Jim Ellis service dept has a great reputation. After warranty, there is a shop called Mazcare close to Jim Ellis. Charlie and company have been into mazda's for 12+ years or so. Charlie has RB connections and is a dealer for them as well. link is

I'm under warranty (5,500 miles) but assume that oil changes aren't covered. *sigh* I did call MazCare ths morning and am comforted by the fact that they don't even use synthetic oil at their shops.
Dave S.: What kind of coupons do you get? Any that you're not using that I might be able to snag from you :o

Coupons
I bought early so I got the buy back or free maintenance +$500 offer due to the horse power over estimate. I didn't keep the last batch of coupons but they were for things like $5 off on an oil change, 10% off on other services, etc. Have you actually been to a dealer for any maintenance yet? I think when you do this, they will automatically add you to their mailing list. If I get any more coupons any time soon, I'll let you know.

I bought my 8 from Stone Mountain Mazda and have been there 3-4 times for everything from the first oil change to rusty rotors and squeaking brakes. They've been very good to me, but they've never mentioned any coupons (except for the free first oil change, of course). Thanks in advance for letting me know of anything you get in the future!

I've never taken my 8 to MazCare, but I have a '94 RX-7 that I do take there, and they've always been great. I've also used MazdOnly, and they're very good too. As far as dealers go, I have used Jim Ellis, Stone Mountain Mazda, Rick Case, and Hennessy Mazda (South Side) - I have no complaints about any of them (except Hennessy's service dept. is closed on Saturdays!) I've got about 22K miles on my 8 (in less than 11 months!), so it's had more than a few oil changes...
