Hey guys, Homewood area here.
I found the is board a while back, but it seemed alot more useful if I remained a lurker. Anyway, I am dont know if you guys "ride" or not, but I am always up for a trip up the moutain or down to warrior river. Lots of good roads with a mix of sweepers and the tight stuff.
email me
We have regular bike nights (TGIF on 280 on thurs.) in the moto world, do you have these for cars as well?
later guys
chris

Welcome DucGasm! :D Good to have another member in the area. What's your color, options, mods, etc.
The local Miata club, CAMS, is inviting other Mazda models to join their ranks. They are very organized and have been in existence for 14 years. Membership offers several benefits, including organized drive-outs, discounts on parts and other special events.
CAMS is having a tech day at MedCenter in April for members. I've joined CAMS and some of the 7 owners have too. You can check out this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/se-rx-8-forum-30/mazda-business-meeting-52388/
You may also want to look at the http://www.rx8web.com/showthread.php...ight=herblenny for info on an April road trip Deal's Gap.
There is also a Sept trip to the Gap here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=dragon . There will be more 8s at the latter, but all rotaries are invited to both.

Deal's Gap
Yeah man, I would love to go back up to Deal's, but unfortunately, I had a minor misuderstanding with one of the local constables last October, and consequently am not allowed back in N.C. for another year or I can face some sorta "go to insurance hell" citation and/or possible jail. Ohh, and of course a temporary "revoking of Mr. license."
It is quite a story, but I can sum it up with "the 3rd time he caught us."
Here is some pics when I was there:
Make sure yall check out Cherohola (sp?) it is truely a great road, maybe better than Deal's, but d@MN cops are terrible. And if when you see bikes in the rear view, they dont want to race, they just want around.
here is my 8
-nothing special in the mods. I was thinking about doing a whole suspension/struts/sways and intake/exhaust just after Christmas. But, I talked to some folks at AutoLabz and they basicly said that nobody really "rides" they just sit around showing how cool thier cars are. They said it was more of a status thing down here, so I elected to dump a grand or so in the bike. Managed to get some really trick **** and saved enough money to get in some track time this summer. Already signed up for 2 days, and hoping to get to more!
I really would like to get involved with some others who actually like driving though. Most folks I meet have really shiny cars they are afraid to get dirty. They have enough blinking lights and glow kits to put a bug zapper to shame, and can recite the spec sheet like it is a bible. But, have no intrest in actually riding. Isn't that the purpose of a sports car?
I dont mean to sound like I can drive. I can't. I can't drive worth a ****. But, I will go "smoke-it" around a corner to the point I am scared shitless and just about the time I realize I made it threw, it is time to set up for the next turn.

Sounds like you're definitely riding the heck out of that bike. You get one of those ol' fashioned escorts out of town?
You just missed the last CAMS meeting. Some are headed to GA today. I think the Ala SCCA will be doing some SOLO running at the Bham Race Course on Sun morning 2/20.
Nice looking 8 you got there. Red and Black are my favorite colors. It was a toss up between the two. The spouse made the final call.

Want to report 2 more 8's in Bham - actually Mt Brook. Mine is red/blk 6 speed and a neighbor has a black 6 speed. Great car which replaced my Miata. Any opinions on the quality of service between Trussville and Med Center?

Trussville and Med Center are owned by the same people.. but I like Trussville better because of the people who work there.

Welcome to the club. My only experience is with Trussville. Never a problem with anything there. Parts are available at discounted prices too. Neal in the service dept always takes good care of me. As Herblenny said, they're owned by the same folks. Check out the rx7 forum and the rx8web for other info and activities. A run to Deal's Gap is approaching soon, April 8-10 to be exact. Mazda Mania is also coming up May 28, 2005. Check out the other posts for more details. We'd love to have more 8s join in the fun. BTW, is that your VR 8 near Joe Muggs?

Welcome UL and Josh. I think Xero is in Auburn. I've been on RX8web.com and haven't heard from him lately. I don't know anyone in Montg. You guys just missed a gr8 outing at Deal's Gap. CAMSMX5 will be hosting an all Mazda event in May. Registration is limited to the first 50 or so. Checkout the MRCCAL, CAMSMX5, and RX8web websites for more local info.
