At the end of the back stretch. When you go down left, then back up to the right before going down to the right again, that up is over the tunnel .

Yeah I think its turn 12/13 or something like that. I still haven't memorized all the corner numbers.

OK, I registered. Gold mustang guy, I've been doing this a long time and I've seen many people get really fast, what's dangerous though is when someone begins to not take input from others and focuses solely on advertising his "hotshot" status...It's dangerous. David and Tommy(RealTQ) or whatever his name is on here also know about a guy that did the same thing for awhile until he wrecked and his attitude has gotten him banned from many of the clubs that run these types of events. He tore his car up and another guy's Porsche Cup car in the process, but fortunately no one was hurt. He tore his up the most because he went between the Porsche and the armco hitting both. By the way this was between 14a and 15. He did several things wrong, he missed the waving yellow at the station on the top of the track just before 14a and the station inside 14a. While exiting 14a he focused on the Porsche sitting next to the armco, focused on it, and drove straight towards it. I say be careful because I mean it, BE CAREFUL, you're in the same run group as I am and many of my friends and besides wrecking you and your car I don't want you to collect other people as well. If you start running up on a train, go pit in, by the time you're back out on track you'll have a clear track, if you run up on them again do the same thing. Trying to fight the traffic battle at a DE can be frustrating and dangerous depending on the approach. A condition that is called "red mist" can develop causing someone to focus all of their attention to getting around other drivers and for the most part is the track day or racing version of road rage. Occasional "pit ins" will help avoid this and help you keep a clear head. Like others have said on here, you really brought this on yourself when you said what you did and started personally attacking others, it sounds like you've gathered that up now and that's a good thing. Next time we go out we'll have a TraqMate and try some options, not just through there, but anywhere on the track. A device like this can record segment times that allow you to plot speed, G-force, and see your line through whatever two points you care to reference. The satelite they use is accurate within 3' so it's relatively close. On a side note, I can't tell you how many times I've heard people that are fairly new to this hobby say "I just want to go out and have fun", and I completely agree with that, but everyone needs to remember how potentially dangerous this hobby can be and THE VERY FIRST THING PEOPLE NEED TO DO BEFORE GETTING INVOLVED IS GET BASIC CAR CONTROL SKILLS DOWN BEFORE CONTINUING TO A HIGHER SPEED. There are places on every track where there are slower speeds and more runoff to practice different lines or a new technique, but the very best way to get started is a slower speed, car control event where the danger level is very low and the opportunity to learn vital car control skills is availble at all points on the course. I ALWAYS recommend a good autox background before preceding to a higher speed event just like I'll ALWAYS recommend keeping a clear head at these events. Everyone is right that we're not racing, but at these speeds you need to be able to control the car on a correct line if something were to happen. It needs to be second nature, not, oh crap, now what do I do. That's probably clear in Silver's video in both circumstances as well. We talked about the "tank slappers" that car does instead of gradually coming back under control and whenever I've raced a car that did this it was due to too much positive caster within the alignment settings. Silver said that his suspension was new and he still needed to adjust it. It had been adjusted some before this and we did some more adjustment following that run, but from the passenger's seat up until when I drove the car there is only so much feeling you can get to be of any help with settings. After the "tank slapper" I had additional input, there again, that part of the track is the best place to see just how much a car oversteers or understeers and in this case how well it regains it's composure. The slide through 8 is something I do quite often depending on how much brake I used on the entry, if you want to be real fast there and brake less and the slide will take out some additional speed. Gold mustang guy, you probably have video of the Marcus there too if you were ever behind me at that point, I know David does. ANYWAY hopefully everyone has all of this crap out of their system so I can blister ALL of your lap times with a clear head at the next event!!!

Just kidding.

Take care,
Robert

Actually I do have to agree with you too on that one as my car does get light on the top of the hill and sometimes I do turn in a bit early on the bottom of the bowl causing the car to want track out on top of the hill.

The thing is a) it's not as far out as it looks on the video,
B) I deal with it by adjusting the throttle / steering.

It's happened to me many times but has never caused a problem beyond a simple correction.

1:50's may not be impressive behind the wheel of a fully prepped lightweight and 400+ hp Mustang race car and it should not be.

Getting a stock engined, 3300-3400 lbs, 220 rwhp Mustang with a perfectly streetable suspension around the track in the same time is apparently not too shabby. Based on what I saw on track along with me in the most advanced class available for street cars very few could keep up a comparable pace.

That's what I saw

Hmmmm....sounds alot like the AI car that Paul Brown recently used to turn 1:36 at Road Atlanta. (Altough RA is a faster track, lap times are usually comparable to Barber)

Just keep tooting that horn, I'm sure somebody will listen.

I'll make this statement, although it pains me to do so. I'd be willing to bet that Robert could break 1:50 in your car without much sweat.
I'd say there were probably 10 cars in the N/I group that were faster than you.

That's what I saw.

Oh, and that color is hideous.

I plan on being there. What a great track to carry on a discussion about "the line" through the carousel and the kink.

I like cake!
And I'm weird but I LIKE driving in traffic--as long as I know the guys and they know me.
One thing on a serious note guys--as we grow. I have never seen a direct insult on our threads before now. I dont like it--serves no purpose but to alienate and THAT is something we are not about. One of our main strenghts is we are all here for the fun of it. We are not racing. If you want to race then move out of DE and get it on and good luck too ya and when you make it big I can say I knew that guy when---!
I have never seen anyone in our group do things in an unsafe manner. Mistakes ---oh hell yea--but consistant mistakes and not listening--never. If I did I wouldnt track with them. NASA wouldnt let ya either--for long.

Look it up.

You're soooo full of it it's not even funny... Is that like your engine block that saves you 500 lbs??

Credibility dude, that's all you have on a forum. Looks like you just lost what little you had.

Or An "all nighter" means not getting up to go use the bathroom!

Or "Getting lucky" means you find your car in the parking lot. (That's me @Hartsfield)

Or "Old" is when.....A sexy babe catches your fancy and your pacemaker opens the garage door

As silver mentionned I even had a heated battle with a Civic CRX?? He was walking me down the straights, I was reeling him in on braking and cornering. I know it's the reverse of the natural order of things between a CRX on Hoosiers R's and a Mustang on Hankooks R's but in this case I guess modifications scrambled things around:

His straight line speed:

He had a built Integra Type R motor putting out 220 HP at the wheels (Same as me) and his car is about 1400 lbs lighter than mine.

My cornering:

My unfair advantage, physics defying, Patent Pending, Titanium Johnson Rod of course!

As far as brakes are concerned: One set of Performance Friction Z Rated pads found on ebay + machining one set of rotors: about 70 bucks. Out-braking Porsches, BMW's, CRX's, Corvettes, Race Prepared Firebirds, etc all weekend: Priceless!

It was fun running with the Porsche Club, as usual we made some new friends and we were pleased with the format. It's nice to get a full 30 minutes on track for each session. They pretty much kept things running smoothly and on schedule, and there was some really cool cars, the Radicals are an impressive bunch!

I'll post the video's this weekend.
What!! I am the yellow CRX Si. You were not running me down in the turns. LOL. The first time I passed you (I can only remember passing you twice) was because I was making up ground on you in the turns. The passing part came from I had a higher exit speed from the turn, not brute power. It might appear that way because I later come by but that is because I set it up in the turn and get an earlier throttle application. I have to do that in my car in order to get a run on bigger engined cars.

My poor car did have something go south in the bottom end on sunday after two years at 9,000 rpms. Do you remember when I almost lost it at the "pit in" turn from coming in too hot and you were behind me? I gathered it up and because I had lost momentum I pointed you by coming out of T15 onto the front straight. BUT I got you back coming out of T4 onto the straight to the hairpin. You know how I did that? I got a run on you coming out of T3 as in "in the turn" I was generating higher speeds. Now whether you can outbrake hell, I don't know but I don't remember observing that when I was reeling you in. There is the general principle that you usually close up on cars under braking anyhow due to the "accordion effect". But we can trash talk all day about this. If you got video otherwise well, then I will eat my words. I was having fun anyhow. How about you?

I wished I had 220hp. I don't. Especially now with a broke motor. The car had 193hp at the wheels and 135 ft.lbs. of torque. How much torque do you have? Because I will take torque over hp any day of the week. As they say horsepower sells cars and torque wins races. While my car weighs just under 2000lbs. I am a fat *** so the car is at about 2230lb then add the student I had in my car (he was not fat) and I am at 2400. Weight hurts in a car based on light weight and not a lot of torque. But then getting point bys from twin turbo porsches and Cayman S down the front straight in front of folks in a crap bucket looking CRX is what makes my day. Yes, my car does have a modded Type R JDM engine, Type R tranny with 4.785, Type R hubs, Type R brakes with carobtech 1109s, and many other things (koni, eibach, GC, blah blah) never meant to be in the car. I don't have Hoosiers. I have massive 205/50/15 Kumho V710s. I heard you came down to visit my car. Sorry I missed you.

PS. Watched the video. LOL. You got my coming into the turn 14 too hot. I was feeling my oats on that corner entry and could feel some rather large slip angle in the rear leading up to corner entry. Just pushing it. I do subscribe to the tighter line theory in that turn. I gave up on turn on when I felt a big rotation (my FWD car is set up *** happy on turn ins anyway) that I knew was not going to work so I gave it up and straightened it up. Just sorry you ended the video before I could see more of ME!! Maybe it is just me but that does not look like serious walking to me. Got that sucker wound up don't don't I.
