oh hell no i dont enter turn 6 at 105-110!!. DAymn dude!!! Oh hell no--- dont even want to think about that> I done and went and broke out in a sweat.

.I lift the throttle before i enter the turn to slow--foot already on the brake pedal before i enter the turn. The lift slows me probaly to 95(im guessing--- remember I am at 7K so I am pretty tight) and as soon as I turn i start braking and then it becomes a balancing act--trying to keep 50% for the corner and 50% for the braking(not 51).At the same time keeping in mind that to breath off enough to carry you through at the fasest adverage speed and judging the distance needed so no braking is required for 7 (or just VERY little). I slowed much too soon the first times I tried this. And i am still not really good at it. I did use a variation of this techique when i did a double inside line pass approaching and turning into and through turn 6. Of course the traffic saw me and gave me room but i found myself at a speed faster than normal entering the turn and no where to go. it is an interesting part of the track.

Here's you a bone, funny guy....I even found a video of you in front of TrackAddict at RA. No offense intended, but you suck pal. You're one of those guys that I was talking about that got turned loose solo before he was ready. I've instructed first timers with a better line. Shame on NASA for not policing it better.

There's the rant you wanted...enjoy.

Funny stufff, dude.

Went to Road Atlanta last weekend for the first time. Great track. Broke my high zoot carbon fiber driveshaft. Here's some video links if anyone's interested. Fastest lap was a 1:39.325 (still learning and lots of traffic).

Lap 1
Lap 2
Lap 3
Lap 4
Lap 5
Lap 7
Lap 8
Lap 9
Lap 10

Was on corner-carvers looking for other Road A vids, and stumbled across these. Man that car is FAST. How many ponies is stabled under the hood? Also, was that Z that fast, or were you holding back.

dude, knock it off, this is the crap we don't tolerate around here, if you want to insult people and rip em apart, go somewhere else. There is no need for that crap here. You just keep instigating it, and are gonna get this thread shut down. If you have positive or constructive advice, share that, don't' just tell a guy he sucks, I can only imagine what you would say to me, and for an instructor to have that attitude, I feel sorry for your students. I bet you sucked at one time too. And sounds like you might suck at instructing, because your teaching method is terrible IMO.

It is a good thing you edited your post as you had pushed the limits. I'm a very easygoing guy and very tolerant of others but your approach to "humor" is not acceptable on this forum and especially to my friends. I expect you to control your desire to put people in their place and instead let others make their own judgments without your implications. Even though you deleted your content your attitude has non-beneficial tendencies. This is no BS, please control it or stay off of this thread.

Silvereight and L8apex

Easy guys, good grief.

The post about OD's drivng was entirely tongue-in-cheek (I'm not qualified to critique anyone's driving by video, and never would), in response to his getting one over on me. I guess I incorrectly assumed that there were others in on it, since noone else seeemed bothered by his over the top assertions. I promise I have absolutely no mean intentions here.
If you look back at the progression of the thread, there was some very civil discussion going on, until I realized OD was running me thru the ringer for a laugh. That's fine, I can take it, but I was just hamming it up a little for him.
I hope you guys weren't taking him seriously.

Yea, I (and Robert too I suppose) clown around to extremes sometimes. My apologies to all. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you guys at future events, and I don't want you coming after me with lanterns and pitchforks.

Tom

Was that the white Z? He wasn't fast, he just wouldn't give a point by (no open passing at that event).

uhhhh---no offense but I suck? ---but then I read the later post. Shucks I was just getting worked up. Didnt even need coffee this morning. I think I know which video you saw. Some of it was ok but some of it I was just playing around. I like trying different things on the track. TA and I have a good time out there and he is a great track partner to experiment with, I follow--he follows kind of thing.
Appreciate all the support guys--- feels good.
Got to go to work---again. and gotta buy a new pitchfork.

Where'd that come from? I call him BallDragger and now y'all want me too? Trust me though, if y'all catch Tommy first you won't want me anymore, he'll be more than enough entertainment in captivity.

it was uncalled for, that is where it came from. The group or regulars here is a very tight knit group, we all consider each other to be good friends, and we respect each other. I tend to stick up for my friends, and get a little irritated when people that do not know them, or the rest of the group start into that crap. I don't want to hang anyone, or chase them with a pitchfork...yet. Just have some respect, and try to avoid insulting someone you have never met. OD is a good guy, a stand up human being, and I for one am glad to have him in our group. Despite his typing skills, but I have the secret OD decoder ring, so it all makes sense on my screen.

To all parties concerned, I started onto balldragger even before this and he responded back in the same way, if y'all keep making a big deal out of this alero will come in and kill us cause he'll think we're not capable of getting along.

guys...watch the insults, please. As you've already demonstrated, the internet is an imperfect method of communication, and it's easy to take things wrong. Especially in this thread at the moment, when everyone is waiting to lay the smackdown on everyone else. Be mindful of how you could be coming across, even if you're joking.

Lightbulb Do I get it?

So, A car such as an RX8 or miata that is stock or lightly modded, near 50/50 (front/rear) weight distribution is faster if driven using the brake pedal to help with turn-in. And a nose heavy car, such as the mustang is best driven when rotated using (or lifting) the gas pedal, right?? And exit speed is better for the heavier/bigger HP car by entering with less trailbraking drama?? And the bigger HP car can drive a tighter line (pinching the turn), where the 8's need to avoid scrubbing off speed by following a more fluid line? How do wide sticky tires fit into the equation? I can't relate this to AWD, it makes my head hurt.

RealT: I saw your car run at Barber last Feb. Braking into the hairpin, your car didn't take the typical mustang nose-dive. What kind of spring rates do you run? That ain't a 4-link rear is it? From my view on top of the building your lap times at least comparable with the GAC mustangs, no?

OD: You guys don't have to wait till spring to turn laps. Finish the honey-do list and join us at Sebring next month (4 days worth!!!).

hey RS
Gives me a headache too. Too much thinking for me and not enough driving.
As far as the analogy you are speaking of--well it depends ---on what you want to do. If the fastest line for youre car is what you want then--well it depends again
But for turn 6 at RA for the RX8 per Roar Racing (RX 8 cars) trailbraking(done correctly) equals a faster time through turns 6/7--notice I did not say speed. To add to the headache--sometimes the fastest speed through a corner is not the quickest way through. But generally speaking-- the fastest exit speed from a turn is highly sought!
Moderator--yall run a really great forum--appreciate yall watching in. We are just a bunch of guys getting to know each other. Most of us already are really good friends but some are just starting to join the family and we are sniffing each others butts to find out were we all belong. Right guys?
RS appreciate the invite but with 3 teenagers at home, christmas ,and wife and sister in law with breast cancer(doing well just have to get through some things the next 2-3 months), I am afraid I must live a little vicariously. Can't wait to meet up with all-hopefully at RA --I believe in March? with Nasa?

My .02 on the whole thing is this. the car, stock, may have 50/50 setup, but we don't know the alignment, diff settings, etc for these cars. Also, bear in mind that drop-throttle oversteer, as it was explained to me, is also a function of the rotating mass of the motor. A v8 certianly will have more rotating mass than a rotary, to provide resistance.

Again, I don't, nor will I ever, claim to be the expert here, BUT there are alot of things to consider, other than weight distribution.

And, yes, my head hurts too.
