Blue Ridge Parkway Rotary Rally
Hello 8 owners,
Me and a few of my fellow RX7Club.com friends are in the process of working out the details for the BRPRR. The date is set for the weekend of Oct 20, and will start in Cherokee NC. The idea is to run the length of the Parkway, from NC to VA. This event will not be similar to the DGRR in the sense that it will be somewhat laid back in nature, rather that ***** to the wall all weekend. There will be several spots that we will want to stop at and take PICs etc. Also, the speedlimit on the BRP is 45 and even though we will end up doing some spirited driving, enjoying the sights and sounds will keep us under the radar. I just wanted to see if there was any interest from you guys in regards to this event. 2 months from today should give everyone enough notice, and I hope some of you would like to participate. Please feel free to bring any questions you have to the surface.
Two of my friends are going to run the length of the Parkway today so that we can get a idea of the times involved and help plan this better, Ironically there driving an RX8. Thanks for your interest

Seriously, Nobody has any interest in a rotary meet on the Parkway? Its actually been decided that the VA section of the parkway will not be run, therefore cutting the trip in half. BRP is 469 miles from NC to VA so we may just go from Cherokee to somewhere near Boone. Just thought I would see if you guys where down for a rotary meet.

You have to do some of it up in VA at least enough to break off the parkway and hit Highway * right around Stuart/ Chateau morrisette. I'd be up for that. That little stretch of Highway 8 that loops back to 58 is what the RX8 was made for. back to back banked 90's. i went this past weekend and had an absolute blast.
I'm up for this run.

Sounds good! There is still a few details that need to be worked out. I myself wanted to do the whole parkway, but others said that the VA end of the BRP was somewhat uneventful. However, im sure there are a few roads like 8 and 58 would be alot of fun in VA. The main delima right now is sorting out whose getting a room for the night, and whose going to get a camp spot. I for one are going to bring the tent, some Redhook IPA, hamburgers ftw. If you guys are really interested, check out the thread in RX7Club.com SE forum. It will be the latest details and the latest **** talking too lol. Sort through accordingly. Glad to have your interest, and this will be a hella good time. Ill check back later, Thanx

I'd definitely be up for any cruise/event in this neck of the woods.

You're on the right track there. That stretch is VERY fun. I live about 30-45mins from Stuart and Chateau Morrisette. When you pass the parkway and stay on Route 8 those banked turns are freakin awesome.
I'd definitely be up for any cruise/event in this neck of the woods.

I'm there!
Thanks for inviting the RX-8 owners too. After all, we're all in the rotary family.
I'm up for it, though I'll probably bail in Boone as I have a friend that lives nearby.
As a suggestion, Mt. Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain or the Moses Cone memorial are all excellent stopping points with lots of parking and places to picnic etc.
