Charleston, SC Adivce
Taking the 8 and we're going to head down to Charleston in a couple of weeks for a long overdue weekend away from NC.
Anybody down there want to recommend any night spots (dancing, clubs, bars, etc).
Thanks guys!
Chris

We just spent 5 days right in the heart of the historical district at Lodge Alley Inn on East Bay St. That's a Bluegreen timeshare resort. Can't give you any tips on night spots. We just took the laid-back (laid-on-back?) route. Zillions of good places to eat within walking distance.
We had a Sunday brunch at High Cotton, right there on East Bay St., 1/2 block from Market Street at the Lodge Alley Inn. Very nice, food and atmosphere was top notch (order the Beef-something? (fancy name - brusque?) - REAL good).

We also really liked Hyman's Seafood on Meeting St., just 1/2 block up from the main front entrance of The Market on Market St. Atmosphere ain't nothing to write home about but the food was great. Order the 7 choices for two option - we ate like royalty and had enough take-home for the next day's lunch!

A local shoe shop owner told us to try Anson Reastaurant, but we ran out of time. That's on Anson St., 1/2 block up from The Market. Go about midway down the length of The Market to find Anson St. and look up the hill, you'll see it.

Southend Brewery on East Bay St. about 1 block from Lodge Alley Inn was ok. I had a couple of their microbrewery brewskies, ribs 'n' wings. Not bad, but not all that either. Eh.
Significant night life was observed all over that area, especially, it seems, at the corner of East Bay and Market Sts. I forget the name of the place. Aw Shucks is diagonally across the corner and looked very popular too. Just park your car somewhere and walk around. That's the type of area it is around that part of Charleston, you do best by just walking around.

sounds great, thanks for the tips, have not been there in about five years so that will help for sure. Guess we missed each other there by a couple of weeks, haha.

Yeah, oh well...
That new bridge over the Cooper River is real nice, makes you want to turn around just to go over it again. lol
But in my opinion, the historical district, is where it's at. The rest of the area is just another urban jungle. The beaches north & south are pretty nice too though. Lots of touristo stuff too, most of which are really pretty alright. We're from the Columbia SC area though, so we've already partaken of all that kind of stuff that we have any kind of interest in. We mianly just did a heck of a lot of walking around that area this time. That old Charlestonian architecture never ceases to amaze me. It's like it has its own mindset, makes you wish you were there back about 100 years ago.
Hope you enjoy your visit!
btw, nice car! Wouldn't mind checking it out sometime.

Yea, I love Charleston, the homes are so amazing in the historical district. I love the little pirate walks too, with all the stories of the pirates. I can't way to see the bridge, saw a pic of it online the other night. I am going with a friend who has never been, i want to take her to the plantation outside of charleston on Hwy 17 (can't remember it), Fort Sumter, Yorktown and some home/historic tours. Busy Busy weekend planned!
Thanks about the car, I am just up in Wilmington, NC not too far so if you are ever up this way, look me up! I will do the same if I make it to Columbia area.

Ok, good picks for your fun there. I'm really a lot closer to Camden than Columbia, although I work in West Columbia. I met Wanted Two one Saturday for a car show in Sumter, he's at Shaw AFB. He's doing well modding his yellow 8.
Mine's red with the red/black interior, GT, MT with the Canzoomer CZ 1.1 piggyback. Alas, I'm not being very active with the mods yet, mainly because my son and his FC have been keeping me busy enough. hehe. The other being I'm scared of messing-up my warranty and I'm one of those with the free scheduled maintenance during the warranty period. I still have 2 years to go with that. And, the other being I just did a lump-sum payoff of the car loan - and that's kind of hurting still. But, it's mine, mine, all mine now! Yay! (Property tax payment tomorrow - ouchie!)
So, yeah, not much action going on lately down here in these parts about any kind of RX-8 clubbing. Not yet anyway, but maybe we could plan something later on, at least the three of us. That would be cool.

Other than that, I have pix somewhere in this forum and in my other computer alrighty, but it's really just a v. red GT still in stock config. No wing, aeroflares, nothing, not even strakes.

Hey wait a minute! You're the one with all those mods. Do you have pix?
edit: Wow, I just ran across your photocontest pix. Whoa! Sexy lady on that first one! Any more? (Of the car, but won't get mad at you if you post more of the female type.)

haha, "the one with all the mods", I am getting a reputation? That would be cool, I am so in love with my 8 and have never really modded a car, so I am really enjoying this. Been at it since only march too!
thanks about the sexy lady, we dated for 5 1/2 years, was engaged, split and dated off and on for another two years. Finally, I just said the heck with it! did not work in 7 1/2 years, why would it work now! haha. Trust me though, lots and lots of "fun memories"
pm me your address and i will send you some pics of the car and maybe a few others![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks again for the help at Charleston!

While parking downtown on the street, make sure your passenger is mindful of the sidewalk. They are high in alot of areas. My corner was nicked pretty good by me lovely wife.
Even so, I dont trust the garages still.
