This is shaping up nicely.
Pam - glad to see you worked out a way to avoid work that day I've been having the same dream about turn 12.
Kurt - you are gonna have enough fun to keep thinking about this until we are able to do it again in 2005. Welcome aboard!
Sounds like we are doing the Waffle House breakfast to start out the day and then maybe head over to Buffalos afterwards for wild tales of our adventures.

Remember the Mazcare open house on Friday Dec 10th from 6 - 8pm or whenever...

Pam and Guys,
I faxed my "stuff "on 11/14 and I spoke with Shane or Shawn anyway one of them!It still wasn't full so it looks like I should be in. Getting new brakes this week from the tsb of mazda and also the new pcm flash. I also have a true cold air intake with the air intake being directly behind the front rotor symbol. Its a custom job. I think everyone may like it. I also may have one more surprise by track date.
Oh yea, I did sign up for b class. I also have a picture of turn 12 on my office wall and i cuss it out everyday! Nabil, you ever get your suspension straighten out? No pun intended. So 25 days to go.
take care all.

thats good to hear Nabil. Glad the driveability is not affected. It seems that I will be able to make it to MazdaCare this go around as I got lucky and got the friday off before track day. What time is everyone planning on being there?
I hope everyone realizes just how much faster we will be going this time. It's a LOT easier following someone. Finding YOUR brake points and YOUR line makes it much harder. I CANT WAIT!
Does anyone have a transponder tp get some lap times?
Pam glad to hear you can come. Thats great! Are you also going to be able to come to Mazda care?
keep in touch guys
Oh by the way that video was way cool.

You mentioned a Mazcare open house. Who is Mazcare, where are they located, and what is happening there?

Mazcare is Charlie's place.....

http://www.mazcare.com/

Charlie is running with us also Dec 11. Great guy with a lot of helpful info. He's been doing Mazda's since 1992 and has raced for many years as well. He has a great setup and to beat all, he's a Racing Beat dealer. I am trying to get there a little early so that Charlie and company (you should see and hear Scott's drift car) can help me finish a couple mods. He can help with your track days inspection form.

He opened his shop to us last time. Something he claims he just doesn't do for anyone....:D

You outta come......

I asked Charlie if I could borrow a lift/rack to finish a couple things under the car. He told me "come on down anytime".....so I am shooting for around three maybe?? I'm changing a couple things (hehehe) he states he and Scott can do in about 15-20 minutes. I figure, at least an hour for me to do (although he told me he would give me some pointers).

Did you get your trans and diff fluids changed to the redline stuff yet? If so, what do think??

No, don't have them changed yet. Talked to Charlie at Mazcare. I'm going to show up a little early too and change the fluids that Friday.

Pam and guys,
Looks like I'll be at Mazcare at about 2 pm 12/10. I will have 2 shiny new red things istalled on my car and put the slicky stuff in my trans and diff. I spoke with allen today. I'm just trying to keep up with Nabil! I got the brake recall done yesterday and its much less dust now. Only 17 days left! I hope there is not any rain! Whats the last count?

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Track Day friends

Just wishing y'all a great day. Looking forward to our time in a few weeks!

BTW - there is a drifting thing happening at Turner Field on Dec 4th (www.dgtrials.com). I was thinking of going to watch for a while. Anyone else?

Even if it rains it will be awesome. In October we had rain for the first 2 runs and it was great. Just got to watch out in turn 5 at the top of the esses wherre the painted strips are slippery.

I made a camera mount for my car so I can do some of my own track videos. In testing it out I wasn't happy with the sound due to wind noise from the open windows. I am thinking of using an external microphone and possible putting it in the trunk. That may sound decent in there. Hopefully I will end up doing some heavy duty editing with music in the background etc.

See you in abbout a week...

yeah....traction control and DSC was a great thing to have during that rain. I was nice to learn what it would do.

VIR Holiday Laps on Dec 10th

Virginia Internationa Raceway, VIR, is holding their annual charity event on Friday, 12/10/04 from Noon to 4 PM. There is a $25 donation, either cash or food or gifts, to participate in the public track day. It is a great time to get on one of the most technically challenging road race courses in the Southeast and put your car thru some tight turns and fast straightaways. See how it really handles as a sports car. These public sessions will last about 30 minutes and since this is a weekday event the track will not be as crowded as it normally is on weekends.

If you would like to caravan up to Alton, Virginia, just north and a little west of Roxboro, NC we will be meeting up at the Walmart parking lot on Glenwood Ave, Hwy 70 west of Raleigh at 10:00 AM. This is an easy place to find and will eliminate the need to go into Raleigh and have to mix with the traffic that morning.

Easiest way to this Super Walmart location is to get off I-440 at the Crabtree Valley/Glenwood Avenue exit and go west on Glenwood until you see Briar Creek Shopping Center, Dicks Sporting Goods, on your left and another shopping center with a huge Super Walmart store, also there is a Red Robin Restaurant on the right. If anyone wants to meet earlier for breakfast at the Bob Evans Restaurant at Briar Creek just let me know.

From the Walmart we'll take Hwy 70 into Durham and take I-85 up to the Red Mill exit 182. Anyone that wants to meet up with us at this exit can wait at the Exxon station and we'll pick you up there. We will then take the GRR route up thru Bahama and pick Dave up if he is able to make it in his newly running 86 and find our way over to Hwy 501 to Roxboro. Then from Rox boro it is a short hop up to VIR and an afternoon of fun.

Come one, come all and make it your Christmas present to yourself.
