Do we feel cheated?

I feel your guys' pain. I put my deposit down January of 2002 so the Oct 2002 is the nearest to mine I know of. There also exists the possibility that even the data that Ibufbar or budaman are able to pull up is not 100% accurate. I think Mazda is trying to get all first deliveries ready to be trucked from ports throughout the country so they arrive at dealers as close to simultaneously as possible. The fact remains though that as Ibufbar was posting the VIN status information that I was a little mystified as to how some that had build dates of 5/28 theoretically remained in Japan after some built on the same day or a later day. Part of it may just be that the boat only holds so many cars per vendor. It could be that after build completion some defect - paint, scratch, alignment, body panel not properly attached, I'm sure there are 100s of check points (I would hope at least) and if a car doesn't pass every standard that it goes back to have the problem corrected. That could delay it to beyond the time frame of the ship's departure enough to 'miss the boat'. I know it helps little, but please remember back in January Mazda estimated delivery in the June - August time frame. In a perfect world, the first deposits would have become the first orders, the first pre-orders the first VINs, the first VINs the first produced, the first on water, first in port, etc. But it's not a perfect world. Some dealers weren't or still aren't all that computer literate. Some try harder. Some are just clueless. There are just so many variables for a new program such as this. I'm absolutely positive this has not gone as well as Mazda had planned. The most obvious is the 6 emails we were all supposed to receive noting our car's individual progress through the system. I had the impression last year we'd be able to the progress online. The most painful is those who faithfully ordered in the early preorder days will not all receive their 8s before some who never even heard of the RX-8 until April or May of this year. Sad, painful, but a reality in this less-than-perfect world. I think it's safe to say that most of us (there are not absolutes) would rather our car arrive safely and be as perfect as possible even if it's a little later than hoped or even some later order. To you all with lower VINs who are waiting or don't show 30 or 20 status - hope yours arrives speedily! As a last resort, perhaps a nearby dealer (or even your own) will have nearly the exact specs you want arrive with no buyer on this end! It could happen...

The second boat may have left. Some "members" VINs have showed up. I have not had a chance to check mine. Hopefully, we can disband the club if the boat shows that it has left.
