charlie is up to something. The way he pulled me out of turn 7 I knew something was going on.
Everyone pulled in 5th gear?

OD, you and I have the same setup now other than the pulleys that I am running.
I am now sporting the RB exhaust that all of us have. I am also running the latest generation of spark plugs and the p flash. The car is making more power now than it did when I tested the header which really blows me away. The header only increased out put by 2hp/2lbft tq but I took it off before the p flash. By the end of this week I hope to be deep into the build up of the prototype cat pipe. If it turns out to be a winner we will produce it but only if it's quiet and makes real power.

I think I am close to 30 dyno runs now and it just keeps getting better. This really reminds me of the early 3rd gen days when so many things were being tried. It really makes for a great overall package when the right stuff gets used together.

I look forward to seeing results after reflashes and new plugs for those that have not done so. I also want to see how ValPacs care does with the exhaust since it was tested w/ intake only.

Actually, no MoTeC but since you caught me.......... Tandy 80!

Charlie,
Thanks for inviting me. Your car looked and sounded awesome? I think a great time was had by all including Habeeb Al Hassram. I look forward to some dyno postings.

There is something really cool about seeing a triple digit speed on the gauge, when you are sitting still. It was fun. uacolon, let us know when the video will be available, that should be pretty cool too.

My car is still sexy even at 135 rwhp :D I guess the A/T has a lot more drive train loss than the manuals. Now that I have a base line I get to start adding the goodies to minize that lack of power!

Well everyone it was a blast watching everyone's car turning out these numbers even if some of them were lower than we had hoped for. This gave me a great idea as to where I am as far as performance goes and I plan on trying a few different things here and there to see what helps. Oh and this dyno pull has also greatly increased my belief in the Gtech pro which was .4-.8 horses off from my really numbers. I recommend it for anyone that like to see they're horsepower whenever they want to.

Oh what's the deal with the new flash and plugs? I know about the N flash but does it add power or anything like that? What are these new plugs? Just wanting to know if I should do these things.

How much do those G-Tech Pros things cost? It may be cheaper than a dyno run after every mod.

They are rather cheap. I got mine just because it was only $30 shipped from a guy on ebay. His user name is gtechpro. It's a very simple device, but has to be setup in a wierd way. You have to crank the car, insert it into the power outlet, turn it to the desired function that you want to measure, then you have to hold down the button and rotate the whole thing up or down to set the wieght, then you wait for it to zero out and it tells you to go which you do, then after you are done and stop it will tell you the highest number it reached which is your peak whp. The most annoying part is calibrating it to your cars wieght. The reason I like it so much is because I have a road close to me that it a mile straight and no one is allowed on it because it is private property. I've done 5th gear pulls on it before and every time it's been consistant with it previous readings and they were less than 1 horse off.

The quarter mile option it has is nice too. I havent really messed with it as much but it just fun to play with. I would definatly say it's worth every cent. Now I'm not sure about the more expensive ones that are lcd displayed and hold your runs with full display maps. I would've bought one of them but they cost $100+ and I wasnt sure it the technology was any good. I would and problay will buy one with the lcd displays before too long just to see the full maps. Plus with them you can download your runs to a computer and upload them to these forums.

It uses a mulit-axis accelerometer. Good stuff. I love mine and it is extremely useful. I have many posts where my results from various tuning experiments are documented using the plots that it can create with its included Windows software. It is, in many ways, more useful than dyno runs.

It can also measure lateral acceleration so you can get real skid pad and slalom numbers.

hey Charlie
You remind me of my old martial art masters who told me to teach but NEVER show my students ALL that I know! Lol!
Hey that project sounds good. I would like a quiet midpipe.
Also I am working a little with Direct hits for possible upgrade on the ignition system. they are like nology. Anyway Travis there is running a 13 A .No kits for us yet but he is looking into it. I am sending part numbers and pics.
Do you think we would benefit from a hotter spark?
Miss all you guys!

Jamie
The "N" flash, Charlie has told me, will make a noticable difference. He could tell that I had not had it done, just by driving my car. It is now incorporated into the "P" flash, which is primarily for raising the RPM that the A/C compressor shuts off.

The "new plugs", are simply replacement plugs, and from what I understand, they are also a new design. Don't quote me though. I have almost 30K miles on my originals, which means they are TOAST! New ones should help.

I need to find the C&D issue that dealt with the performance meters, they did extensive testing, and recommended one of them. I will have to re-read it and find out which it was. It would be cheaper in the long run, to get guesses from it, rather than running back to Dynolab every couple of months. I just dont have two miles of road to work with. :D

Denny, we sure miss you! When are you coming to town? I can't speak for the Renesis but in the past I have not seen any real gains from ignition add ons other than on the turbo cars. HKS makes a box call Twin Power that worked did nothing on for us until we tested it on the 3rd gens and it made good power. The new style plugs I am using seem to work well. they have not been out long and were released for models that were apt to flood. Mine has not flooded but I wanted to try the plugs. they are a cross between the plugs that came in the engine new and second gen surface discharge plugs and are a heat range hotter.

My VW friend and I both pulled 180.1s but he killed me with torque 200+ to 134.

Has anyone posted any dynos somehwere yet? I am very curious, since most of the dynos floating around are either for bone stock cars, from part manufacturers, or from turbo'd 8s.

I am curious about the graphs rather than the peak numbers simply because a curve gives a better idea of where mods (or flashes) affect it.

I will try to remember to bring it to work tomorrow and scan it in, then get it posted.
