We have less than a month to go. It is going to be a blast.
Hey Morgan. Give Jeff a call at 352 291-0600 to set up times for the event. He is posting on this site now.

No free cars. He will be glad to give you a good deal on a car, or cars if you want. He will be bringing some RX-8, Miatas, posibly some Mazda 3s, and an FD RX-7 if he stil has it. They are all for sale. None of them are free. Look for other free goodies. He did not specify.

Here's where that 5% comes in that I mentioned above. With less than a weeks notice I find out I have to fly to Charlotte on business next week. That's on top of moving this weekend. I'll be back in town Friday Nnight, but not sure how wore out from travelling I'll be. So it's now a 50/50 shot that I'll be there. If I do make it, my car will be dirty though

Unfortunately nobody from the RX-8 club has decided to tell anyone on the RX-7 club, so i'm afraid its probably too late for anyone to make plans to go. I hope that the owners do not get upset with the turnout if it is small, and that we may perhaps have another chance to rent the track out one day for a big meet, that can be posted on BOTH forums.
Hopefully next time there can be greater communication between the forums.

Pete,
There were RX-7 drivers (and club members) posting on this thread as early as June 7th and a post about the Ocala event on the RX-7 Forum July 20th. That's an 18 day heads up. Considering there hasn't been a heck of a lot of activity on this thread by either group, I'm not sure what the issue is. I was under the impression that this event was an orchestrated effort from both communities.
I would have created a section for updates, rollcalls and caravan gathering information on the Mazdanow.com website, but I'm not really sure who is organizing this one any more.

yah it just seems like there isn't any organization for this one like there was for the orlando meet.. (somewhat) lol. There is however a meet on the 21st in Tally.. you guys should try to make it if you can.

I thought Driven by speed was in charge. All I was doing was setting up the place and getting a sponsor. I just left a message on the RX-7 club forum, so lets see if we get a response. I am sure plenty will show up.

One day to go.
Hello all.
Jeff from OGP here. I need a count of how many will be attending this event please.
We have set aside 9:00 am until 5:00 pm for your club to come rally your cars, maybe show a little drifting if you know how. There will be food, show cars, prizes and money, if we have enough entries.
Let us know.
Thanks.

Well This was a flop. The only folks that showed up were GT1 and me. The next time we do this, OGP and I are going to organize it. We are going to invite all the rotarys back and the Miata club as well. Sullivan Watts Mazda was somewhat disapointed but want to do something with the next event. Either Jeff at OGP or I will keep you posted.

As much as I wanted to be there today, too many things stacked against me. Starting with moving last weekend, which continued was pushed into this weekend. Moving wouldn't have been such an obstacle, but with very little notice I had to make a business trip during this past week. Which pretty much ruined the schedule I had for moving that would have allowed me to attend.
Again my appoligies for not attending as I had hoped too, But I am glad to hear there is still interest for such an event. And as long as a similar series of events does not occur again I will definitlely like to participate in the event.
