Yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yesterday I took my oldest son (21) to the grocery store. A young woman in an SUV pulled in next to us (there was plenty of room; I'm very careful where I park). When we got out, she said, "I'll let you drive mine if you let me drive yours," referring to the RX8 (I think!). Actually, she wasn't sure what kind of car it was. She asked what it was, I told her, then she nodded as if, "Ah, yes."

Considering I'm 48, I know she wasn't coming on to me. So, it's all THE CAR.

In just over a week, the car has gotten attention two or three times. Last week, a woman walked by it with a couple of little girls, and said, "Look, girls, at the pretty car!"

This car has gotten more attention in one week than all my cars previously in 30 years.

The car has been great so far. I'm very much enjoying it.

I agree with the attention. Mine blends in a little more that yours, though. I guess the only ones that really notice it are the ones that know what it is. Fine by me, too.

Today was my first service at Sandy Sansing. Because of the previous owner (a forum member), they know the car well. In fact, even the service writer said, "Do you have a blue? ___'s car?" I said that it was, and he replied that he knows the car. One of the two master mechanics has done most of the work on the car and knows it best, but he wasn't in this morning. I met him Saturday when the shop was closed; he told me he knows the car well and that it's in excellent condition, well serviced by the previous owner.

So far, the people there seem pretty good. They have a small shop, which is I think fairly low-volume.

I've had a slow leak in one tire, so they checked and found a nail in the sidewall. I'm replacing it, of course, and they found the tire locally so I should have it done this afternoon. Fortunately, the tires are reasonably new and I don't need to replace the other tires to achieve the right balance.

One of my concerns in buying an 8 was service on the car. I've never been impressed with Sansing sales, but if their service department is as good as it seems so far, I'll have more confidence. Time will tell.

I've had nothing but great things to say about Sansing's Mazda service dept.

I'm glad you snagged a used one that was well taken care of. When I bought mine it hadn't had the 18k service completed (I bought at 24k).
