No... It is getting quite ridiculous. I got my release from port letter on Friday 7/11. The sales manager at my dealership told me he is expecting it to arrive at any moment. He also said he called his district manager to get a status and the district manager would not take any more calls regarding the location of any RX-8's. Go freaking figure!!

Is there anybody else waiting from Jim Ellis Marietta?
they have VIN 810, 870, 901, 10somethin and 11something ahead of me. I might be wrong, but I think they are all for sale.

Got it!
I got mine yesterday and I love it. I took 3 other guys at work for a ride this morning (one guy in the back was 6'2" tall). They were amazed that the car was quick, handled great and still had room for 4 men and a good amount of luggage. I have to agree ... it's an engineering marvel. Since I'm an engineer, I truly appreciate the accomplishment.

Nope not yet. Doesn't look like it's going to happen either. My incredibly disreputable dealer (Rick Case Mazda) has finally pushed me over the edge. I'll be heading down tomorrow to reclaim my deposit.
Love the car. Hate the customer no-service.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience at Rick Case. I found it really determines who you speak with at Rick Case - concerning customer compassion and concern. I have been working with two folks over there who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. I've been quite impressed with them. However I don't have anything positive to say about the other sales reps I have spoken with. They are quite un-knowledgable and unwilling to help.
I was suppose to get my 8 "july week 2", I called Mazda NA last Friday and they told me it was recently "released" from port and I should expect it between Monday & Wednesday.
Rick Case also received 2 dealer allocation RX-8s and they called me up to ask if I wanted to come test drive. This was last Friday.

The dealer tells me, trucks are on the move again, hoping to get left over 1st allocation cars and "basic" Rx-8's in the 2nd allocation out to customers/dealers in ATL and FL. Maybe some of us will get delivery by Friday!

Finally got my RX-8 from Rick Case Mazda yesterday. It is such a dream. I can't believe I actually have it.
I can't seem to get away from it! wax on, wax off... must polish my car again.

I didn't get a pre-order, because I had a car at the time. I've since wrecked my car and waited for the RX-8's to come out while I was on vacation. Since I need a car fairly badly, and they won't let you drive the last one off the lot, I settled for one coming in next week. Presumably the same shipment noted by Roto.
I got the black with GT package and NAV system. Much more than I wanted in the car, and much more than I intended to spend, but I'm losing sleep from the aniticipation! :D

Prepare to have a religious experience. Congrats on getting your car so soon. You'll soon feel like a rockstar! I have got to get my windows tinted - people are stopping next to me at red-lights and rolling down their windows screaming at me "What kind of car is that?" "How much did it cost?" It's crazy.
I also have people getting driving next to me, slow down really quickly and get on my *** so presumably they can read the "RX-8" logo.
I'll be driving with the doors locked

So guys, post pics and tell us what was your experience at Hennessy and Rick Case. Esp. bottom line, out the door price. I am still waiting for mine from Jim Ellis, but soon enough now.
So where do you guys live/drive: we jealous ATL folk want to drive by or at least see you as you blow by us on the freeway!

Hey Roto, I actually got mine at Jim Ellis in Marietta.
Oof. Was that an ordeal. It's kind of a long story but to sum up here's how it went:
Went in to find out about the RX. Salesman didn't take me for a potential buyer so I received very little courtesy. (To the point that I had to introduce MYSELF during the test drive.) The rest of the experience went downhill from there.
A couple of days later the sales manager called to check up on my experience. I related my dissatisfaction, in great detail, and he offered to work with me directly on the price.
In the end, they shipped a car out from Knoxville and agreed to pick up delivery charges given I pay MSRP. Between that and paying off my S60 T5 I was using as a trade, I felt the deal was fair. In the end, they went out of their way to make me a happy customer. It's just a shame what we had to go through just to get to that point. It would have been great if it was like that from the beginning.
But that's behind me, and I'm enjoying the car immensely.

I'll give y'all the Rick Case "short story". I got mad and left because there lied to me. I'm now at Jim Ellis at Marrieta and (to date) quite happy.
The Rick Case lies.......
1) When I ordered my car 5/24 they said they had 2 cars matching my description already in their inventory. I've checked their inventory and they actually have 0 cars like mine in their inventory.
2) In late June I didn't have my VIN so I asked for an updated ETA. I said that I didn't think mid July was likely since I didn't have my VIN. They said not a problem, they "guaranteed delivery" by mid july.
3) 7/6 & 7/12 again stated that mid July was on track......still no VIN.
4) 7/12 they finally stated that mid July has turned into August/September. When I inquired as to why, they stated there was a "manufacturing problem" with the Nordic Greens.
When the store manager asked me how they could make me happy. I said by getting up and going to get my deposit.

I got mine from Jim Ellis in Marietta. I believe the sales experience was good, but typical. They think everyone is there to ogle at the car, and not really express interest in buying it. They'll skip the pleasantries if that's the vibe they get.
For the record, I was told I was getting a black car with black leather interior, GT package, NAV system, the works. When I picked it up yesterday, I was kinda surprised to see black/red leather interior instead. It looks frickin' sharp!
To date, I have not seen another one on the road. I commute from Alpharetta down 400, to 285 over to Cobb Galleria. Plenty of highway to cruise on, when the traffic permits. 50 miles round trip, so I'll get the break-in done in no time. I also figure my wife will be wanting to cruise this weekend anyway.

I had a great experience with Rick Case - I was working with Kellie and Kurt, they were both very helpful and willing to take my 3 phone calls a day.
Now I did find that if I was unable to get in-touch with either of those two that nobody really wanted to help me - at all. That was kind of frustrating.

I ordered mine through my credit union who placed the order with Hennessy in Morrow. They never knew anything and would tell me what ever they could just to get me off the phone. They were, however, very cordial with me after the car arrived and complied with all my delivery requests. No dealing on the price with Hennessy since I bought it through the credit union. So far the car has been better than I ever dreamed but I can see that there are quite a few things I will be adding and changing over time.
***I live north off 400 and drive south of Atlanta to get to work. 54 miles one way! I have driven the RX-8 to work twice so far, yesterday and today. It does cause congestion on 400 as people slow down from 85 mph to check out the car. Over 700 miles and counting!
