Not considered racing unless you advance out of HPDE (High Performance Driving Environment). You start off with an instructor in the car with you in HPDE 1 then in HPDE2 you go Solo. I HPDE 3 you get to pass anywhere on track with point-by and in HPDE 4 you can pass anywhere with or without point-by. Then you can advance to being an instructor or Time Trials. The next step is a racing license and participating in the racing events and all of this goes on the same weekend.
Cost around $280 - $350 range depending on the track if you are driving and not an instructor. To spectate, you can get in for nominal fee. Can't remember but I think it's $15 or $20. dbright007 will straighten me out I'm sure.
Tomorrow, July 5th, I'm headed over to Road Atlanta to watch TrackAddict run with the BMW club. He is instructing. You are welcome to come by if you like. I don't think there is a charge to get in. This is similar to NASA except there are no racing events. This is another alternative you may be interested in. Like NASA, you will have an instructor with you when starting out and I think the price is similar but I think you get more track time.
OK, that's three post in a row... I'm out!

I am just a ho-in-training!
NASA doesn't set any spectator fee's so it is up to the track.
I think Road Atlanta is 20$ for Nasa events.

Silver: Cool I might try to make it out this weekend, depends on my schedule with the lady friend hehe. I have a few BMW friends going too, I autoX with the BMWclub and know alot of the guys.
Do you know if they do track touring during the quite hours on Sat... or is it still just Sunday? I know I use to go out on the track around 12 or whatever with PCA and BMW... since I wasn't racing yet.

Yep, Touring laps start around 12:00 on Sunday. I will be out there tomorrow after lunch and will try to go on Sunday for the touring. I'm going to try to get my wife out. This may be the only way to ever get her on the track.

I'll be heading over about 12:30 today armed with me camera/monopod/400mm tele lens, sunscreen, long pants and helmet just in case I get lucky and get a ride! Track ho's should NEVER go to the track without their helmet.

Cool, yea I just woke up a bit ago. Was up real late with the 4th and couldn't wake back up in time hehe. I have a helmet/some racing gear and use to HO it out as well, will have to look and see if they are still with me or I might have to make a trip back to my old place.
I remember the first time I was someones HO I rode in my friends 944 with a PCA event, was awesome... and man seeing those old school 911 Turbos pass you like your standing still priceless.

Caught a ride with TrackAddict today. Had a great 30 min. session to finish off the day. Really made my mouth water for me some track. I don't think I will be back on till the fall. Although I will look for the opportunity like tomorrow to do touring laps... I'll take what I can get.

how long does it take for the email confirmation to come? I just created my account at 10:36am on GaRX8.com. Also, why can't I see myself in the member's list, I created an Avatar, and all other sorts of things. I've been using Rx8Club.com for months now, but never created a full account. Do I need to post a thread or something? Not to familiar with the inner workings of forums. I just find what I need and do it to my car. Thanks

Had a blast today fellas'. Don, it was nice to meet you and thanks so much for letting me borrow the helmet, since mines still at the old place.
And appreciate the ride TrackAddict... am sure I'll try to get the car out in the near future as I am becoming more needy for some track style racing! Catchya guys at the next meet or race event.

i think i saw your silver 8 at Sutherlin a few weeks back. I work across the street from there in the Toyota shop. I have been talking to John up there about my engine, might be due for replacement soon.
Now i just need to find a lightweight street flywheel and new clutch before the engine gets replaced.

I know you guys don't know me but I have a dilemma. I currently own a Cobb AccessPort for the 8 and I was told by Trey at Topspeed that I could have it tuned for the Greddy Turbo kit, and I currently have the EMU. I called Doug today from Topspeed and he told me they could not, because they don't have the software. Battleground told me that if I found Ten guys with the CAP, they would buy the software and have a tune day. I'm not sure if this is a separate thread or posted some where else, but I need a tune. I did not purchase my CAP through MazdaManiac so I can't get the free tune from him, even though I offered to pay Jeff. What are my choices? Is there anyone out there interested who live close or in GA.? Will I have to tune the EMU, and wait for more interest in the CAP? Thanks for your help

You should talk with x-attack on the GA forum. He may be able to help you. Most of us are not FI, x-attack is. olddragger is Supercharged and has a lot of knowledge with FI. I suspect that one or both could give you helpful advice. Send them PMs.
