I can't believe I've been lurking this long, but I figured I should make a post to rave about the top-notch blokes down at Mazcare. (Though I know I'm not the first.)
I had a pretty bloody rough misfire situation on my '04 RX-8 and was pretty much at the end of my line. The car is the daily driver for myself and my girlfriend, so I needed it fixed and quickly. After spending a full day trying to find somewhere that had spark plugs for the car, I decided to check the forums for a good local mechanic. Mazcare came up, so I sent them a message on Sunday morning, requesting an appointment for Monday if possible.
Not only did Charlie get back to me within a few hours (on a Sunday!) but he was straight up and honest from the get go. He didn't know if he could fit me in, but bring the car and he could diagnose it if nothing else. So, I organize to get AAA to tow the car over on Monday morning.
Nothing short of fantastic from start to finish. He replaces the Coil Packs, the Plug Wires and checks the Cat - recommends what to do to get it replaced and even called ahead to the local Dealer. All for a fraction of the cost that a Dealer would've charged me for the same work.
It's nice to find a workshop that's run by genuine enthusiasts - so if you're looking for anything to do with a Mazda in the ATL area, I can't recommend Mazcare enough. (O.-)b

RisenPhoenix, that is not surprising at all. Mazcare is the service center of choice by most everyone in the GA gang. You should make a point to join us at http://www.garx8club.com for a really good communication experience. There are many of us, including Charlie there. It's always good to have locals that can give advice, suggestions, share a joke and have get togethers with.

Need two wheels asap!
Hey! I just had a REALLY bad incident with running over a piece of a curb. Wife starting having like a breathing attack or something, and I started paying attention to her. Long story short, there was a piece of a curb in the road, and I hit it AND ran it over at about 30 MPH. Needless to say, both driver's side wheels are screwed. ANYBODY....anybody at all have any two wheels for the car? I have about $400. Please? ANYBODY!? Let me know what you've got and how much? where you are? anything. Im here in the Hinesville/Ft Stewart area. please get back to me ASAP. call me at (701)212-9950, or (210)607-8354. Please leave a message, and I'll call you right back. Name's Cody by the way. Stock wheels, aftermarket wheels, alot of tread, barely any tread...anything. Im in the army, so I work everyday, and I live about 45 minutes away from post, so PLEASE help me out!!!!I will have an extra $1000 next friday, so.....please help me out!

It's been a while since I've been back on this forum. It's amazing how little the GA gang comes here anymore. We are still VERY active but just not here much anymore as we tend to congregate on the GA forum. Anyone needing help or information about events, please contact one of us via PM from RX8Club.com or by visiting garx8club.com. Like I said, we are very active and want to hear from you. I'll try to check the SE section more often.

Hey, hows it going guys! (and gals). I'm currently delpoyed right now, but I've got a very good friend of mine taking care of my baby Sheila (see sig). I'm looking to start on some newer performance mods, but as per the recommendation of Charles @ BHR and other on the forum, I need to get a compression test done. My 8 is currently in Savannah right now. I didn't hear good things from the local car club about the Mazda dealership in the area. My question is, is there anywhere near the Savannah area that can do a thorough compression test of my engine?

Hi Jessiah. That's a beautiful car you have there. Don't know anyone in the Savannah area but if you want to bring Sheila to Atlanta when you get back to the states, take her to Mazcare. Charlie and the gang are the shop of choice for all of us. http://www.mazcare.com
I salute and appreciate you for serving our country. When will you be coming home?
I see Sheila all the time when we go to Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, She's really fast but sounding a little funny since the guy driving it missed 4th gear and slammed it into second. Don't worry though, This car can handle high RPM's. It apparently handles well too but when he finally regrouped and got her straightened out after hitting that nasty berm at about 80 mph, it rolled over and landed back on it's rubber. Dang, those nice wheels are pretty messy though. You might want to get some that match I think he's running 17's on the rear an OEM on driver front and a 20" on passenger front. The paint is looking pretty good considering but you are going to need a little body work. That roll over was pretty bad. I really don't think he should have gutted the interior though. I know he did it for reducing weight but dang, it really did need that dash in it.
Anyway, don't worry about Sheila, she will still be here when you get back!

The only hard part is my friend's work schedule wouldn't allow him the time to take it up there for a little TLC. I'm pretty sure that Mazdcare is the best in the business. I'll try and see if I can get something worked out, if not, I'll definitely be there when I get back from the desert! I'll be back sometime next winter. So you should be getting a call around that time for sure. I really need to get that compression test done before I go any further with modifications for now. I imagine that I'll have to keep looking.

You know, when I first read that post, I really believed you up until the mention of the berm. I freaked out a little bit! I had to read it twice before I was like, “Oh!” You got me good. I was tired. lol

Hope I didn't scare you too bad. I have a strange since of humor sometimes. But... we would love for you, DJ, and any other 8's you can get together from the Savannah area to join us at the track (Roebling Road) when we visit this year. Don't know when you are coming home but you will find it very enjoyable I'm sure. You don't have to drive but come out and join the fun. You guys a are always welcome. Also as I have promoted many times on this forum... join us at http://www.garx8club.com and see what we are up to. We have lots of events planned for this year. Brent (Army) is putting his finishing touches on his RX7 with the LS1 engine and we look forward to that beast on track.
Be careful, stay in touch and let us know when you are coming home.

Me and DJ should be back sometime Winter 2010. I've always wanted to hit up the track so maybe we can work out something in '11.
You should definitely get some video of Brent's RX7 on the track! I'd love to see that thing move.
Thanks for all your support for us and other troops out here. We look forward to coming back!
