Val, thanks for the report and Charlie for a clarification. I'm looking for a warranty repair this week hopefully.

coming from a fellow tracker in a different area, is there any actual benefit to the MS nose?

The only thing I've read is that it has about 20% more air flow. Aside from that, I don't think so. I don't know how much benefit 20% more air flow would be. Mostly though, it looks cool!

That big hole up front would be a GREAT place for an INTERCOOLER.

Only 4 MORE DAYS... I can't wait.

I think they will end up being a maintenance item in the future. They are not expensive which is cool. I've always recommended wires at 30k on the older rotaries so maybe it's to be considered on our 8's too. I have a set of RB wires but have not instlled them. My feeling is that there will be no gain from them unless the old wires are a problem. This is the case with all ignition wires I have ever used. I am not a believer in any of the snake oil plug wires out there but the Ultra wires that RB sells are good quality and they fit well otherwise the factory wires are the way to go.

I wish you all smooth, high dyno graphs, very high corner exit speeds, and tons of grip.

Chas
all that said, a new set of wires, a new set of coils, what can be done to protect all the new parts. I know you have mentioned that the grounding systems in Mazda's in general are nothing to write home about. And I know that a grounding system will not add a lot, but if it could prevent things like the coils being fried every 30k miles, it might not be a bad idea.

NOw, back on topic, WE ARE IN THE HOME STRETCH only 4 more days

I will bring a floor jack, two stands and two ramps. I will not have room for the easy-up as I will also be bringing 4 extra tires. I need a trailer!

sounds like we may need a group buy for coils and wires? Coils are about $50 apiece right?

You folks that are running R compounds what is your experiance with those over sticking with a better street tire like a BFG KDW?

Lego is a genius, that's all....He walks around all day at work doing complex control algorithms in his head and chants "I'm a genius and you're not" over and over.....it is annoying, but we have learned to live with it!
Actually, we were just talking about him having a shop manual or something to that effect somewhere while we were doing brakes, but I'm sure he'll let you know his source....( I personally think he's quickly drawing these things up & posting them for you....you are so lucky to have a genius within your ranks )....

And, uh, Lego don't fire me for joking on you.

-Good news....Bailey was released from the hospital today, still has the nasty cough, but her O2 Saturation was @ 100 for the last day or so.....so we are home, much to the delight of our two rotten dogs.

Dana & I cannot thank you enough for your thoughtful comments and prayers....it is much appreciated!

So, it looks like I'll see you guys Friday afternoon!

i hope you are refering to the BFG KD tire, not the actualy KDW, with the flame pattern tread. Cause they were not that great, I had them, and hated them. Right now, TA and Lego have more experience with R comps on the 8.

WRX boy, glad to hear that she is doing better, and got to go home. See you Friday...wooooohoooooooo!

Also,
Forgive my ignorance as it comes to the rotary, but why would all the coils go bad at once? This is based on a lot of assumptions by me, but unless there is just one coil (which I'm assuming there isn't) it would be slightly odd to me that all of them lose their electrical stability all at once.

I know this is apples to oranges, but the last time we went to the dyno, back in my Camaro days, there was a guy there with a plot much like the one posted up here.....albeit it was a LS1, but his ended up being valvetrain issues along with A/F problems.

I know this post is probably fruitless to you guys, I was just thinking out loud....maybe it can be of some use if it generates some additional discussion betweens you guys.....

BTW, Subies inherently have very BAD grounding systems which produces a rather large stumble during acceleration at times.....I removed one of the grounding lugs and found that they attached it on thickly paint metal, instead of bare metal.....believe it or not, just that made a large difference.
