Thanks

Just wanted to thank everyone for their hospitality today. We really enjoyed getting to hang out, and especially the cruise on the track. We hope ya'll didn't mind us cutting out early, but since we didn't pay to play, we didn't want to take up passenger seats and track space. BTW, I have asked my husband where to buy a helmet! Thanks again, Lisa and Jesse

What a day. It was great in all respects. Good to see old friends again and make some new ones. The track was boatloads of fun and a great place to work on skills and develop patience.
When I walked into the house I almost collapsed I was so tired. I can't imagine how STF and 32V will feel when they finally get home. It was good to take a hot shower and just kick back a bit.
STF and 32V - thanks again guys. You are both terrific and always welcome as part of the GA RX8 Club family.
I enjoyed riding and playing instructor. I hope I was of help. I really enjoyed giving rides as well.
ALBlue - y'all were welcome to stay with us all day. Glad you had fun. I almost felt like a crack dealer giving you the first hit on the house. It was funny hearing you say "oh ****" on the warm up lap. I was thinking to myself that you aint seen nuthin' yet but you seemed to settle in and enjoy the ride. Join us at Road Atlanta in March.
Peace out and goodnight!

We're home....Lego buzzed three cops @ over 90mph, and only ever saw one....one even did the whip around and busted the car behind me...talk about pucker factor.....Lego never even noticed..... (blue lights?...what blue lights?)

Thanks a million for the hospitality....I really hope I get to join all of you again. I had a ball, and I'm glad Myself and my Subie....didn't make fools of ourselves....oh, wait...the subie did (thanks Lego ).

STF & 32V, thanks for everything!...I learned a lot, and look forward to getting more instruction from you soon.

later....I'm sleepy

What an awesome event! Thanks Dave and Steve for putting on the event. Thanks David for having such an wonderful track in your back yard. And a special thanks to TrackAddict, L8APEX and Lego for sitting in the instructors seat. Thanks to Robert for being the track photographer and for all you other guys & gal for showing up to play. I had a tremendous time. Robert can't quit talking about the ride with TrackAddict.

Robert and I saw a Turquise (?) Ford Torus pulled over by the State Patrol on the way back. That really bothered me a lot!

Here are a few shots. We have already looked at all the images and video and as usual, there are good and bad. Ya'll hang loose and I'll post when I can get them cleaned up a bit.

I'm dead tired, sore as hell and happy as a little school girl

Thanks all!

EDIT:
I'd also like to give a special thank you to our tribe for the "happy happy joy joy NO RAIN dance". What a perfect day!

Wow, where to start.....???

Ok, from the top, um Phlash...yeah, it has to come up; ON THE WARMUP LAP? No worries, I still like ya .

Next, WRX-Boy, aka King of the sleepers...."oh my first time" and yet, by the end of the day was lapping like an old pro.....

Lego, Great work today, good job, and 0/0 tread wear ratings, um, good for dirt tracks, bad for road course.....but .... will help you go through turn one with no brakes.

TA, good first ride in the right-seat. I was impressed, and, I continue to have high hopes for you in the coming months. Your skill today was prevalent, and unmatched by any other mortal there ()Keep doing what your doing, and you will be fee free, before you know it.

Pam, wow, don't know where to start, intelligent, beautiful, and CAN DRIVE. I tell you, if I wasn't married, (and fat) you would be the girl for me. .... Also, great job behind the wheel, very settled and in control. I admit, I under-estimated you, something I won't do again.

Silver8, if you could pawn, just one of those cameras, you could foot your track habit for years . Thanks for all you and your brother did today. Having you guys there today, brought it all together. As for your seat duties, way to get into the swing of it, and embrace what you weren't sure of. You have taken the first step, CONGRATULATIONS!

L8, I LOVE the sound your car has, and it was a pleasure watching you wheel that baby around the track. Another RX8er that really impressed me. Good skills, and a willness to learn. A force to be reckoned with in a short time.

Val, thanks for helping out today. Without your presence, the magic couldn't have happend. I appreciate all you did today helping us out around. Good job .

AC8, man, you have really started to improve expontially (sp). Everyone there was amazed at the poise you had on the track, and your ability to wheel consistently fast laps. Great job, and man, I look forward to working with you later. Now, go home and jack her up and clean that girl, you know she has been naughty.

Mister Wilson, it was very nice to meet you. We look forward to you continueing your growing process with us. You made some great strides today, back them up with a good showing at Road A or Roebling.

Albluerx8, you would have been welcome to stay. I was serious when I offered you the spot, and I didn't say ANYTHING about money. It is like crack, your first dose, is FREE.

32V, as always, thanks for your help. You have surpassed what I have expected, and from now on, I will look at you as 'equal' in track prowess. I didn't say anything, but you were about 2/10ths faster than me in WRX boys car. You know I don't do humble too well . Anyway, it has been a pleasure working with you, and I look forward to us working together to get better in the future. I feel you have, as much if not more, to offer me than I have for you.

Again, ALL of you thanks. It is guys (and gals ) like you that make this fun for me. I sincerely appreciate what each and everyone of you contributed yesterday. You made it happen, not me or Steve. Your club dynamic is unique, and successful. I consider it a pleasure to help you all, and an honor to know your group.

In summary, thanks for reminding me what this sport was all about. I had forgotten over the last few years.

Good morning y'all. Watching the 24 while surfing Too bad the rx8s are all out Can't get enough motorsports.
I can't find my camcorder cable to watch some of my stuff on teh big screen. Gonna have to do it on the computer. I may get a video posted today.
Looking forward to the pics robert took. Thanks. BTW next time get out on pit row with your helmet and catch some rides. It was a pleasure wheeling you around to show you what the 8 can do.
STF - thanks for the kind words. Did I mention I learned a lot? Learned a lot about the right seat. Didn't feel unnatural. I could tell when there was impending trouble through the shitometer. I learned a lot inthe drivers seat particularly how catchable the 8 is when oversteering or corner exit.
Catch y'all later.

I am glad all had fun. Sure wish I could have made that event but RA is not THAT far away. STF and TA --I too have begun to think about pursuing Instructor status. On the straight-a-ways , as my name suggests I think i can do ok.
One thing I have learned over the years is the learning never stops. New stuff all the time.
Anyway watch me at RA if ya'll would please and see if I have the potential.
Can't wait for the vids guys. Grab a no doze and get them on line!
Main thing glad everyone had a good time and got home safe.

Good Morning All!
I hope everyone had an uneventful ride home. Thank you L8 and AC8 for the caravan home; I was finally able to slow down after you peeled off - then back to my grandma driving.
What an EXCELLENT experience!!! Great thanks to David and Steve for giving us this chance to have fun, develop our skills and just get together! The track was challenging but not too intimidating to push myself a little further. Isn’t the 8 a great car!!! TA the ride with you was a good education how to turn off the self-imposed limits. L8 and VP, thanks for all you help and taking care of me. Sorry about my blinding headlights. Good to meet B1, B2, MrWilson and glad to hear little Bailey is home and well. Phlash it was great to see you again and hear your screaming red car going down the track! Lego you need to post a picture of that tire as a tribute to your hard driving skills! Silver, aka nomovirgin, can’t wait to see your magic. The look and smile on Robert’s face after the ride with TA is what the whole weekend was about. Great fun! Alblue you need to go to RA and join in the fun, I know you’re hooked.
Many thanks again to all, now back to resting my sore arms and trying to figure out the replacements for my gnarled tires.
Pam

OD and rxeightr missed you guys!

I must give a BIG THANKS to the Georgia RX-8 Club for a thoroughly enjoyable day. It was a pleasure meeting everyone. I had a great time and look forward to seeing you all again at RA.

Thanks for the rides and the opportunity to drive the RX-8. As always, I learned quite a bit and gained some more valuable experience yesterday. It was my first experience with the car and it was impressive. Quick and nimble are the words that come to mind when considering the RX-8.

STF - It's always a blast going to the track with you and thanks for the kind words.

WRX - Thanks for letting me take your car out for a few laps. That is a fun car to drive.

Pardon my brief pirating of the thread but I want to see if anyone that recorded the first segment of the 24 hours of Daytona has the capability to record to DV tape or CD the segment on #70. The "Lap Time" to reference is: 22:49:08 to 22:46:15. If you can capture this I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'd like to upload it for reference. It's the best 3 minuets on the RX8 that I could find.

Also, I herd the broadcaster this morning mention that the #70 was running in 3rd place before that had to drop out so there may have been some footage about it as well during the night. Did anyone record last nights session 2?

Wow, That about sums up the day. Wow! It was a hell of a day on the track witha bunch of great people. I had a hell of a time, the car had a hell of a time, the tires, well, may they rest in peace. They did great! Hung in there until the very end. I guess that's what you get when you get 0 treadwear R compounds. You can do turn 1 without brakes! It's time to clean the car up now and pack away the tires. I'm going to hang the dead one up on my wall in the garage.

It was great to see everyone again. Met some new people and got to hang out with a geat crowd. It couldn't have been a better day. The weather was great, the people were great, the track was great, and fun was had by all.

STF & Cobra, it was a wonderful event. I can't thank you enough for the help, organization, and instruction. I was great getting seat time from both of you. STF, I still smile everyting I recount barrelling through turn 1 at full throttle and giggling all the way through turn 3 like little school girls! You are magic in the driver's seat of a car. Playing the instructor was also a great experience. Thanks for letting me do that too! You continued guidance is turning me into a better driver on and off the track and I hope to follow in your footsteps to get to a point where I can help others too.

WRX Boy, we need to change you name now to WRX Man. You impressed your father and the rest of us. First time on the track my ***! You're a natural and I'm glad you were able to join us. I'm sure we'll be talking about it for a while at work now. Next time, it's RoadA. Sorry about that little spin. I think I might have peed a little on that driver's seat too! Next time, the ZR1 and your Dad are going to have to come with us. How long before Bailey has her first Kart?

Vette Slayer, you still dazzle me with the smoothness and speed. That shirt fits you well. I'm expecting its return at RA. I'm also going to have to have you in the passenger seat soon helping me out. When you gave ALBlue a ride, all we could see was a helmet and teeth, she was smiling so much!

Phlash, thanks for the lap 1 demonstration. I almost lost it there once too during the day. I've had to learn the hard way, but there is a very easy formula : RX-8 is not a rally car. The WRX is and I had to prove that to you! We're going to miss you during RoadA but the good news is, you can go to Test Track at Disney and have all the fun you want.

AC8, your SCCA Spec days are coming back. That white blurr that went around that track was looking great! It was great to have you out again and RoadA is going to be just as fun.

Pam, your showing off to the guys is making the rest of us look bad. I'm going to have to bring a sticker for your car at RoadA that says, "You've just been passed by a Girl!"

Val, that MS kit looks killer. I'm looking on the web for one now too! You're making the rest of us jealous and I'm sure your car had more pictures taken of it than the rest of us.

Don, you're a great student and a hell of a driver. I loved riding with you because once you started feeling comfortable and getting smooth, I was having a blast hanging on and letting you drive. You were getting smoother and smoother throughout the day and got faster and faster. I was very impressed. You're going to show out really well at RA as well. BTW, those choc-peanut butter brownies your wife made were to die for. I think I ate at least 5 of them before getting on the track.

L8Apex, thanks for the hotel room and that sweet sound of the custom exhaust. That is a hell of a car and I hope to see you in Albany soon. You could always tell when you were going by with that distinct sound. Makes me want to get one custom built instead of a RB exhaust. You're a hell of a driver and I hope to see you at next week's autocross.

MisterWilson, it was good to meet you and we hope to see you at more of our events. We'll have to grow into an SE RX-8 club since we're attracting a bigger crowd.

Robert, Thanks for all the pictures and video. I can't wait to see them and show them off. You're going to have to get yourself an 8 soon and experience it from the driver's seat.

Thanks again to everyone. It wouldn't have been a complete weekend without all of you there. I had a hell of time and want to do it all again REALLY REALLY soon. You all make owning the 8 even more enjoyable. Thank You.

Here are some pix of the tire. It was the driver's side front. The rest of them look fine. I guess Turn 2 did it. If it had to go, this was the best way for it. It was worth it though as the grin is still on my face. It proves how much fun was had during the day! I can't wait until next time!

well, I am finally online. I got home last night, tried to have a cold Corona, and basically fell asleep standing up. Proceeded to sleep for about 10 hours. I needed it. I was glad I had AC8's tailights to follow home, and Pam's headlight to keep me sharp. I was more tired after yesterday than I have been since my allnighter days in college. Such an extended high on track. Too much fun.

Thanks first and foremost to STF and 32V, without your willingness to help our club out, yesterday would not have been possible. STF, thanks for the kind words, I look forward to becoming a better driver everytime out. And with folks like TA and AC8 to guide me, I am sure I will have all the input I need.

Everyone, I had a great time, as did everyone else. I learned alot about myself, my driving, the car, what it can do, and what it can't-i.e. offroading, TA, thanks for the ride with me, and letting me ride with you, I learned more in that 2 sessions, and it undoubteldy cut more than just a couple seconds off my lap time. You are going to make an excellent instructor, you know when to say the right things, and have a good way of communicating to the driver. Thanks. I am so looking forward to RA, I know now that I can handle going much quicker than I did before, and it will cerainly be a great event.

I will try to get some video worked on, it will take some time, I have over three hours to go through.

To everyone, glad we all got home safe and sound, lets do it again soon.

I'm not spending much time online guys because I'm working feverishly to get these images up. Stay tuned and I will have something up before long. I have 247 images that I will be setting up on the SilverEIGHTStudio.com site.

Video is going to have to wait.
