Hands on experience - Charlotte NC
I am looking to get back into an Rx-8 after 17 years. I was 1st owner of a 2004 Winning blue- Sold it after being t-boned back in late 05. I have fond memories of the car and have always smiled when seeing one on the road.
I am aware of the issues with this car and older cars, so before I spend time and money I would like to see/touch/ride in one without the pressure of buying as I am also a bit picky in what I'm looking for.
Is there anyone who would be willing to meet me and let me check out their car to see if I'm just in love with the idea/memory or if the 8 is the right car for me?
message here and I'm happy to meet on the weekend or evenings - willing to pay for a bit of gas to cover the travel cost as well.
Thanks!

If you don't get any takers, allow me to say you won't be disappointed.
I just had a new engine, tires, clutch kit and many other expenses for a 20 year old car done on my '04.
I spent probably 3X over what the book value says it's worth, and I don't regret it.

Thanks for the input everyone, I am fairly confident I would love to be back in an 8. I have started looking already but have a fairly narrow list of requirements, it's not going to be a track car it would be a weekend cruiser, and sunny day car. I would ultimately like to drive it to/on the Tail of the Dragon, that's a bucket list item for me.
So still looking to get hands on before I drop the $$ but I have started looking and pricing modifications.

Most importantly, don't forget to get a compression test.
