I guess I'm special... I received TWO recall letters. No, not special, I still own my old wrecked 8 as well as the 'new' one. Not sure if I can drag it into the dealership. Or that they would touch it if I did.

I recently got my recall letter, so took mine in to be checked. I need an oil change and tire rotation, anyway. I was surprised when I received a call at work saying it was ready: it didn't take too long. My car was fine, so they did the flash and a couple other things. I've driven back to the office, but that's all. So far, so good.

Question: I have an 06 AT built in March of 2006, will my car be part of the recall?

2006 RX-8 VIN range (JM1 FE17** 60 200012 - 206995)
Check your VIN number and see if it is between the range above that I just copied from the TSB...

Thanks for the info! My VIN does fall under the recall range. However, I looked under the hood and found the campaign label filled out. It says:

4206F
Dealer code: 23708
Date 9/9/06 - (I purchased the car on 10/21/06)

I'm assuming this means the recall procedures were already completed?

Great! What a relief! I was worried I was going to be out of my car for a month like some other members. Wasn't looking forward to scooting around in a Focus while making payments on my 8. Thanks for your help!

The dealerships down here aren't lending anyone CX-7s during the recall. I don't know who started that false rumor

I wish I would have gotten a CX-7. They sent me to Hertz who put me in an HHR.

In what ways? Mine seemed less responsive at first, but after a few days it seemed to reset. I have noticed more lugging at low RPM, but it may be that I am just being more observant.

Yeah, but the last time I took it in I was out of the car for 3 days with no rental cause apparently I'm old enough to buy the car by myself but i'm not old enough to have a rental from them. BTW I'm 20 and no mommy and daddy didnt help me to get the car. Luckly I had my other car which I had bought myself as well, so I wasnt completly out of a car.

A loaner is standard procedure on recalls and warranty repair jobs that are expected to take longer than you would expect the owner to wait in the waiting area. Any dealer who doesn't do that would automatically totally suck - to me.

Secondly, why would you want them to do again what they have already done? I can't see how that would benefit you. They already did the recall procedure?

im not gona take it in, though for the rental issue I had when I took the car before I was really pissed that I couldnt get a rental cause I'm not 21 though I will be soon. You would think they could make an exception since I had bought the car from them like two weeks prior to the recall.

My problem turned out to be bad coils after they changed the spark plugs. When you get your car back after it gets flashed, take it out for a spin nearby the dealership and make sure the engine doesn't sound odd or have noticeably sluggish response before you drive all the way home. You don't want to be stuck for a week in a car with bad coils like I was.

Sounds familiar...when I first took it in 5 months ago they told me it was bad coils, cool I thought. But the low idle came back and lack power was noticeble. I took it back in and got new coils for a second time with new plugs and wires...and guess what? Yup, same problem a month later. Then, I had the recall performed, and received a new engine no questions asked. I've got 2600 miles on the new engine now, and I couldn't be happier with the improvement...more power, better response and no idle issues!!!

Oh, and I have yet to receive my recall notice.

Hmmmm, since I got my letter on 11-1-06, all I see here is SC & FL owners getting their letters. Not NC?

My wife is taking mine in soon. I think I've worked-up the nerve now - it needs an oil change anyway. So, I called to discuss it with the manager. He scoffed at the CX-7 loaner, like, "Schyeah, right. You'll get a loaner, no problem with that, but it sure won't be a CX-7!" He did confer that I get a tankful of gas and a wash. After I hung-up with him, I pulled the letter that was sent to the dealerships that I printed-out. What he said rang a bell in my head, and the letter reads to me that the CX-7 loaner is an option, followed by the other option of the standard vehicle loaner program. My dealer uses a nearby Enterprise rental place about a block away. Oh well. I did that once and it's a bit of a pita to have to deal with them - having to return it with a full tank and all that bs...

<----- South Florida

Well, I wanted to post my positive experience with this whole recal thing. I see way to much negative experiences but I attribute that to not enough of the people with positive experiences are posting so here goes...

I jost got my car back today from Gunther Mazda and they treated me awsome! They gave me a rental for 2 days while they performed the recal. Turns out that they replaced my spark plugs, reflashed the PCM, and replaced a motor mount that went bad.

Issues:

Vibrations when idle - Fixed (Motor mount)
Suspension noise - Fixed (Turned out to be the engine mount making the noise)
TPMS - They forgot to work on this but its no biggie...Will bring it back.
Driver seat noise - Fixed (replaced track)
Fogged Head Lamps - Fixed (Brand new ones)
Emissions Recal - Passed (Replaced spark plugs)

If you are in the South Florida area I encourage you to go see Gordon Orr in Gunther Mazda...He is my service rep and takes car of my car when I can not.

Edit: This thing feels significantly faster according to the Buttox Dyno! Very reliable dyno...

here is an update about the letter i recieved:
I got a call a few minutes ago from lehman mazda where I bought my car. They told me they needed to PICK UP the car because of an open recall on the spark plugs. I told the guy that I had taken care of the recall and I gave him the service guy who I usually speak to. He asked him about it and then came back to tell me that there is another recall aparently on the spark plugs they installed when they recalled it the first time. So right now someone is on their way to pick up my car and then they will bring it back before I have to leave work today.
