HSR Mitty Challenge-April 29th
#55
I found out there is supposed to be some things us ROTORHEADS don't want to miss at the Mitty...
1. The RX-7 GTO #1 car is going to race this year.
2. The 792P will probably make a couple of laps around the track.
I have seen, heard, and touched both of these cars at work, but I have not witnessed them in action on the track. I don't want to miss this!!
So get your tickets by the 14th and come out and park in the corral.

I'm coming down too! I'll leave St Louis Friday morning, should roll into Atlanta area around 7pm. I think Jeremy and some of the other local RX-7 guys are going to organize a Friday night meet for drinks and food, I'll have him post details here too. I assume we'll do a Saturday night get-together as well.

Thanks, but probably not all ... for some reason there are a few local guys in Atlanta that just think I'm the devil. I love talking cameras though, it would be my pleasure to share some of what I've learned.
As you all may or may not know, I am a Meteorologist. And not the dopey TV kind, I have a 4 year Atmospheric Science degree.
Anyway, it's looking like we're going to NEED that EZ Up tent. Does anybody have one? Friday the weather will be perfect, and Saturday will start out nice, with chances of rain increasing throughout the day. Right now it looks like it won't rain until 6pm or later Saturday. But then Sunday could be quite wet - probably rain in the morning, and not drying out until noon or afterward.
So if we don't have a tent, it would be a VERY good idea to rent one for the weekend. Since I'll be driving down in the Tribute, I could pick it up and bring it to the track if somebody local finds a place to get it. I don't take pictures in the rain, so I'd be huddling under it with everyone else ... hopefully drinking beers and BBQ'ing!
I'll come back with daily updates, since honestly right now it's too far out for any certainty.

Well.... My easy up got distroyed during a storm a couple weeks ago. We are minus cover at this point. don't know about the 7 guys. We have not discussed purchasing one. I'll see what we can shake out. Since we do not collect dues, this is something that we would have to collect contributions for and that is always a touchy subject. It was easier for me to just purchase one myself and use when we needed it. A trip to a local Walmart can take care of it. Gainesville WM is about 15 miles away from the track. I'd purchase one myself but the wife would kick my ***! We have an understanding... I don't waste money and she tells me what is wasteful! LOL
I'll pick one up if the group is interested and will split the cost. That will give us a place to put our new banner up. Cost approx. $100

Making it a sticky won't get more attention ... since it's at the top already, and only 2 days away.
As long as theres a decent turnout, of course I'll put a pic in the magazine. I'll have a box of mags to give away too.

silver, contact TA, I know we have some money left in the club funds, after our last little fundraiser for the banner. I know I recontributed to it, as did a few others. Between that, and any extra contributions, I am sure we can get the tent paid for. Since it seems that we might be needing it.
EDIT: I dont know about anyone else, but I am planning on getting there around 9 a.m. both days. What about the rest of you folks?
