The North Carolina RX-8 Club will be hosting a state-wide meet at Lake Lure on March 26th.

This event is for any rotary enthusiasts who can make it, so watch this space for details.

We've had very successful events at Lake Lure in the past and have enjoyed lunch on the lake and spirited drives in the mountains.

Easy to get to from Asheville, Raleigh, Charlotte, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia, this resort mountain town has a rustic feel and is home to several natural attractions, like Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, and the lake itself, surrounded by high hills.

The plan for the Saturday, March 26th gathering at Lake Lure, North Carolina:

Noon:

Start with Lunch and Social Time at the Main area in Lake Lure off HWY 74. Park in the long area right at the Beach Area of the Lake. See Map Point "A"


1:30pm:

From there we take Drives and Local Tours around some of the local roads and tour the area. If we have a large turn out we can take two groups for tours around the area:

1. Aggressive Group (I understand the limits of my car)

2. Intro to the area (Learn your lines and how the car feels)


4pm:

Wrap up back Drives/Tours at the Dock/Park Area around ~4-4:15pm for final goodbyes and such. See Map Point B

5pm:
End and everyone heads home.

For those coming from the greater Charlotte area:

We will meet 10:30am at Belmont Abby (exit 26 off I-85) and head off from there.

If a smaller group would like to take the long way home into Asheville, the the parkway, then back to there various locations per I-40, that could be setup as well.

hmmm its about 5 hours from my house. I might try to make it.

 

Everyone do your No Rain Dance!!!! Right now weather.com show 70% chance for Lake Lure.

If the weather shows 50%+ chance of rain to tomorrow night around 9-10pm the ncrx8club.com will have to push this till April 30th. Rain up there is rough and these mountain roads have flash floads and/or mud all over them after/during a rain. Plus you have no covered parking or large covered social areas around the shorelines or really the whole area.

I'll check the weather and post up tomorrow night 9-10pm and if it is I'll post and send out an email.

Its official we will have to postpone our Lake Lure Meet due to rain. The weather forecast list a 70+ chance of rain Friday night, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday for the Lake Lure area with heavy thunderstroms in the forecast as well.
