I planned on going but we were at the Infiniti Dealer getting the new car. I will be at the next one.

 

that picture was taken on sat night, and now, the nose of my rx8 is smashed up....nothing major, its gonna need a new bumper, i was gonna swap to the Mazdaspeed anyway and it will need to have some dents in the hood fixed, then maby a repaint, Ill get the check from insurance, and get the new MS bumper and then fix the hood, or go CF. Dunno yet.

Basic story goes : Sitting at a stop light, honda CRV in front of me. Light turns green, we all start to move, we get to about 10-12 mph and then suddenly (light still green) the CRV stops hard, I stop hard as well, but the nose of my car slides under spare tire and the tip of the muffler punches a hole in the front of my bumper. Her car needs maby a few hundred to pop the dent out of the black ABS plastic bumper (its not painted) and fix a reflector on the bumper and replace the tire cover. No paint damage to her or my car, and no metal damage other than my hood. I am thinking the repair of mine would be around 1200-1500 bucks.

Some of the strange things, the lady in the CRV was laughing and having a good time while the cops were there, and seemed like she coulnt be happyer. Also the first thing she said to me when we pulled into the gas station was "nice car, what is that, are they expensive?" and then as the police officer was making the report, she talked about how she was just rear ended recently and it was 4800 dollars and only looked a little worse.

When the cop asked me how much he though it would be to fix my car I said " i dont know, im not a repair guy, I have no idea" he asked if it was gonna be over 500, if so he would have to make a differnt report, so I told him i thought it would be at least 500.

He then asked her the same thing and she said " i think this will be 2000-3000, like she already had a figure in her head.

Then she said her car was making a funny noise and she would have to get it towed.

Whole thing was kinda strange. I had been behind the lady for a few miles. I dunno if im the target of a scam or i just got into an accident with a strange person (someone who stops at green lights)

anyway, Ill get some picks

My last car was in 2 accidents, the police always estimate what they think the damages are. With my car they estimated 200 in damages and the bumper was about 1200, dont worry the insurance companies dont pay attention to how much damage the cops estimate. My thinking of why the lady was so excited is she just won the Florida insurance lotto, she sees a nice car asks how much it costs and figures your insurance will pay up. Good luck.

Okay guys, I've decided to consolidate the Tampa thread with this one since we're planning on alternating between Orlando and Tampa every month.

Anyway, the next meet is in Brandon at Barley Hoppers (Top location) on Friday, November 4th at 7:30 or 8pm. I'll try and be there a bit early - possibly with some Orlando folks - to try and wrangle some parking spaces. If you don't see us bummin around outside, reservations are under RX8 or Betsey for 8:30.

So for the caravan, who is in, location? still chevron/mobil at Sandlake and I4. At around 645-7?

 

I was thinking more like 6 or 6:30, just because I want to be there early. If you guys aren't interested, I'll just ride out on my own and try and secure some parking.

Agreed, I cant get their before about 630-645, so I think a roll out at 7pm would be good, I might actualy be able to get their a bit before that, but Ive always under-estimated my times, so Ill leave this one with time to spare.

ALSO as a side note, I drove by the suggested meet spot today, epi was right its a MOBIL station on the corner of I-Drive and Sand Lake, right by I4. There is a SHELL station next door, a little closer to the freeway.

There is a CHEVRON on the corner of TURKEY LAKE and SAND LAKE. thats right next to I4 but on the opposite side as I-DRIVE.

The Shell/Mobil are harder to get to from the freeway, but easyer to get to the freeway from......if that makes sense....

So Id say the Shell or Mobil are the best bet.

Thats the Mobil Station, the Shell is right next door, a little closer to the freeway. There is also a McDonalds next to the mobil, its a McD's Bistro I think. Im not a huge fan of eatin in the car, or having drinks that dont re-close or have a good lid (**** I know) but there is something about an Ice Cold coke (mcd's has the BEST fountain coke EVER IMO) and a large, hot, fries for a road trip!

So I say Mobil at 645-700p for the caravan, that should put us at the meet just after 8pm.

If anyone wants to go earlyer, you can PM rhawb and meet up with him.

 

Okay, I just put some more consideration into it and it seems that meeting at 6:45 and leaving at 7 or so would probably work out fine. I don't think the drive's going to quite be an hour, so unless we run into some nasty traffic, we should be on time. As of right now, I'm in with it, unless I start thinking again and change my own mind.

 

Rhawb/Geoff: you have my cell so, call me and let me know if the plans change at the last minute on Friday.
