MRCCFL - Tampa Bay Monthly Meet - Saturday 8/9
This Saturday resumes monthly Bay Area meets for MRCCFL. We took July off due to the Gainesville BBQ and lack of a site. Since this is the RX-8 board and most of you probably don't know, our old site was BJs Tavern on the Courtney Campbell Causeway, which is no longer there due to road widening. But I digress.
Preliminary plan is to meet up at Ben T. Davis Beach on the Tampa side of the Causeway around 6 PM, then cruise to John's Pass, watch the sunset and grab some food. We'll let everyone in attendance argue over the place to eat.
I'd love to see an RX-8 or two at the meet.

Plan is a sunset cruise to John’s Pass from the Ben T. Davis Beach, which is at the east end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway (SR 60). Meet up at Ben T. Davis at around 6:00 on Sat. 8/9. Heading west, Ben T. Davis is the first traffic light on the causeway, which is almost immediately after the Castaway Restaurant. It’s a left turn. Heading east it is the last light on the causeway, if you miss the light there is a right turn into the beach that is marked with a sign.
Activity. We are going to cruise to John’s Pass for the sunset, dinner, and whatever after dinner. Cruise route will be west across the Courtney Campbell, across the Bayside Bridge, then either East Bay or 118th Ave. to Gulf Blvd. to John’s Pass (Public Parking Lot – Beach side before the bridge). Estimated cruise time is 45 minutes to an hour. Sunset is at 8:15, so we should start around 6:45. Bring chairs if you want to sit on the beach and coolers if you want refreshments (so Jerry doesn’t have to post, remember it’s a club activity ‘nuff said).
This is a good activity to bring wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, and/or significant others as their eyes won’t glaze over from boredom as some of us stare into engine bays.
