one thing I have found out also Silver--if you can coast some on the cool down lap--do so . Disengage the engine--push in the clutch and let her coast at idle--it is amazing how much faster the temps go down.

Getting through or around Atlanta is going to be hard if we don't leave before noon. We could risk not getting to the track in time if we wait until 2PM. Anyway you can work out leaving early? If not, I will wait.

Please Read This Thread: GA RX-8 Club - Talladega Nights
We have a group attending the movie on August 19th. We'd like to have a big turnout.

I looking forward to seeing you guys again and get some more helpful advice.
You will all be happy to know that I now know how to Heal Toe since you guys let me know the importance of it. It really does make a huge difference!
Yet, I am a little scared of left foot braking. That will probably come in time.
What is your guys opinion on shuffle steering? I have heard a few reason to shuffle steer and few reason not to. Seems like this is a prefference - what do you guys think?
And remember - us pink (pass me) guys have feelings too

You are only as old as you think you are.

Are we going to see your wifes smiling face again?

I agree with you there. I don't like my hands to be all over the place. It feels good going into a turn (shuffle steering), yet on exit - it doesn't feel as smooth.
The claims for Shuffle steering are:
-Keeping your hands at 3 and 9 in mid turn
-If your air bag deploys and your hands are not close to 3 and 9 - you will break your arms?

Woohoo!!......Eight more days......

Reminder:
I'm bringing the Chateau, Brats, five or six pounds of *** (with sauce), and a gallon or two of ready made rita's (along with a GIANT bottle of Tylenol, just in case). I have some blankets and pillows. I'll have the giant cooler full of ice and I have a grill. I'll have a bottle of ear plugs as well. Everyone will have their own bed. There is no water hookup at the track, but we will have a porti-unit near us.
Supply list:
*If you have a favorite pillow, teddy bear, or blankie, bring it.
*Bring lots and lots of water. It's gonna be warm and you'll need it for brushing your teeth and such.
*There are showers near the tower, bring what you need for that.
*Condiments
*Paper plates, napkins, and utensils (I have some but depending on how many show each night, I my run out).
*Buns (for the brats and ***)
*Chips, snacks, baked beans (we have a stove)and/or anything else to go with the brats and ***, as well as munch on.
*Breakfast stuff (donuts, cereal, pastries, sausage biscuit's, easy stuff)
*Sandwich stuff (meats, bread, etc) if we choose to eat lunch at the lodge.
*BYOB - beer, scotch, bourbon, soft-drinks, etc.......
*I only have three or four chairs, so you may want to bring one as well.
For those of you not staying, you are welcome to join us each day after the track activities. I think we've invited the world...they may not all show, but they were invited. The gates close at 9 or 10 and open at 6:30 or 7:00 (I think). Those of you staying, the best bet is after your last event, shower and head on up the hill. The showers are full in the am so plan accordingly.
The plan (we all know how that goes) is for me to head out with the lodge and be at the track late morning/early afternoon. Not that I'll be able to set up yet, but at least try to not have to deal with the traffic from hell at early rush hour. If Jim manages to talk the track folks into letting us in a little sooner, I'll head up the hill and start getting set up.
It's hard to believe it's been more than a year since we last did this......I can't wait!!
I'm sure I've missed something, but usually at least one of us brings the missing item(s)...well, except pants......
