Got my car teched and put big *** "SilverEIGHTStudio.com" stickers on Lego's doors. Spent a little time with all the buds and had to take off to come back home. Gotta do all the prep that I've not had time to do yet. Will check back in tomorrow night.

We are going to have a great crowd.

Rob is putting us up at the ROAR traveling show. :D
Dano has his new dirty red bitch.
Lego has his awesome little black thingie with the "pass me now please" sun roof.
TA was putting on his transponder for TT's when I left.
TA2 was trying to find a way to put his new seat in.
Kurt did his thing with IC
OD has his new super duper heat remover insalled.
Drew is getting his wings clipped tonight
L8 is all excited about working in the heat
Jody is all giddy with being back at RA
and I've gotta go out and get busy!
Hope I didn't leave anyone out...

Onrails and Chas will show up tomorrow I guess. There is another guy but I can'r remember his name... sorry dude!

Is that OK for a quick update?

Phlash... it just ain't the same with out you dude. Miss you big time. You can't do this to us again. You need to square things away with you work and get your priorities together.

I am home and my car now has over 21000 miles on it! Great day, hot as (insert cliche here) Didn't like my car much in the am due to me being real rusty in it but felt better as the day went on and had really great help from my old pal Nabil. Geez that boy has got it going on in an 8. I definately learned some old tricks and will use them in the RX7 next time out. Must remember to take shocks off of comfy street setting to prevent tuna boat feel.

I just wrote up a frigging page of stuff about this w/e and this damn forum kicked me out --i guess because of some time limit crap and I lost it all. Jesus!
to tired to do it again.
Lets just say as always we had a great time--but EVERY car had problems--some major--Silver's had to be flat trucked to Mazcare Saturday. TA did win his class in Time Attack. Damn forun crap---I had a lot of details.

Chas will have me up a runnin in no time. **** happens!

I have lots of pics of everyone. I will try to get them up over the next couple days. I'd like to say that we have a hell of a group of friends and I'd like to thank EVERYONE for supporting me when I spilt Pork-N-Beans on my white socks at the BBQ dinner.

Congratulations TA on your first time in TT and your first place finish. Dude you are a hell of a driver. (I have a pic with the master and his award)

Chas, it was a pleasure having you with us, kind of like having a rock star in the group.

Dano, that Miata will be running proper soon and you will be smiling big-time.

Phlash, DAMNIT-ALL... we missed you man!

OnRails, hope the TracMount did its job. I look forward to the vids and your report.

Rob, It's always a pleasure to hang around the ROAR paddock. Thank you for your generosity. That 400mm 2.8 Nikor lens that Revelle has is a real piece of work... you could sell that puppy and buy a new RX-8!

Kurt, didn't get to see you much. Wish you could have stuck around longer. One more instructor session and you will be bona fide!

L8APEX, I have to hand it to you, that was some tuff work out there. I saw you give me the finger! ? Thanks for your hard work.

TorqueAholic, You really drove the tires off of that Mustang! Glad you had a new set waiting on you.

Steve, that RX-7 (yea, right!) is a lot of car. The guy driving the viper came up to me and wanted to know if I knew the guy driving the red RX-7. He said he had a great time driving out there with you.

Don & Donna, thanks for the hospitality in your camper. I could have stayed in that air conditioning all afternoon on Sunday. Both of you were looking great on the track.

Jody, Sorry, didn't get any pics of you on the track. I didn't stick around for the race today. Always good to talk to you and get advice.

Lego, dude, I can't say enough. Thanks for all your help. I'll never be able to explain how much your time ment to me. A very sincere thanks!

And to my dear friend and co-old-fart... olddragger, sorry about the belt thing. At least you caught yours before it did what mine did. I always learn from you and always enjoy the conversations. Driving with you on track is always a pleasure and if I could keep up with you, it would be even more of a learning experience.

Well what a weekend it was! The heat was tremendous. Driving to the track on Friday afternoon I saw ambient temps of 106. Saturday I saw ambient temps around 100 and today it was mid to high 90s. Despite that heat, the RX8 didn't complain and I didn't feel like I was down on power any more than the other competitors. But, the heat did wear you out physically. I was toast yesterday evening and today by about noon.
I was lucky to have 2 great drivers to work with.
HPDE1 was Dano in his Lil Red Biatch. Dano had to pretty much start over learning how to operate a manual on track and I feel he came a long way over the course of the weekend. Heel/toe downshifting is his homework assignment. The Miata is a wonderful car. It is reasonably fast (once you get it going) and handles great. It is tossable and catchable and very forgiving even if you let off the gas mid corner.
HPDE2 was Charlie who was readjusting his knowledge of RA to work for a car with less than half the horsepower and 1/3 the torque of the track weapon he is accustomed to wheeling for the past year. The lines in and out of the corners are definately different! I have found some ways around the track that seem to work pretty well for me so I showed them to Charlie and we spent the rest of the weeknd cussing the gaggle of C6 Z06s that would hold us up in the corners but walk us down the back straight. Charlie is extremely smooth (shifting up and down, changing direction, and applying power and brake). He will be rocking HPDE3 if we get him to run with us again. I was honored to ride shotgun and just tickled to think I helped him get around RA.
TA2 - thanks for the hospitality and the good cognac. It was great stayiung with you and the family Friday and Sat nights. On track, it was great as well. One of these days we will get to run nose to tail. We didn't get the chance even once this weekend.
OD - always great to have you on track. I need you to run TTD with me at Roebling. We'll have a blast for sure. Your guages look awesome and your tinkering never ceases to amaze us.
OMS - always a pleasure to see you on and off the track. I like your spiffy driving suit dude. I think there is a dedicated track car in your future for sure.
Lego - note to self - tighten all brake calipers! Glad the brake caliper was a trackside fix and didn't sideline you. Looks like you have quite the fan club in HPDE as an instructor. Good going! It is stuff like that that gains our group respect. Think V8...
OnRails - thanks for the ride today. You are very fast and precise in your driving. You take instruction very well and that is going to take you places. Contimnue seeking feedback and you will continue improving. That said, you are already very good. Really nice job and a hell of a lot of fun to ride with too.
L8APEX - thanks for sweating it out keeping us safe out there. You had the shittiest job and you were all business on track. Too bad we didnt get a chance to hang out at all. Roebling...
Rob - thanks again for the paddock space. Always fun to be with the ROAR Racing team at an event.

As for me, I ran my TTD event on Saturday and Sunday and am pleased to say that I did win Saturdsay and think I won Sunday as well. I didn't see the final sheet after the last session today. It will be on MyLaps.com in a couple of days. I heard that the word in the paddock was that I was in a basically stock car on Hoosiers. I stopped to explain that I was on RA1s and I had Bilstein HD shocks and springs on. So I was close to stock. My best lap time of the weekend was 1.46.111 which I am pretty happy with. This time last year I was running 1.51s so I gained about 5 seconds over the course of the year.

Thats all for now.

Wow, where to start. Such an eventful weekend.

I will start by saying that having such a fun group of really helpful, knowledgeable, and just great great friends to hang out with is spectacular.

TA - A great big thanks for instructing. You do a fabulous job not only because you really know your sh*t, but you also are a blast to be around on and off track. This was like my first event trying to learn the car, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate your patience. I promise I will learn not to lift in a corner. And congrats! We want a wall of those awards!

Marietta8 - Dude, we will get the dirty red bitch figured out. I hated to disturb your weekend asking for help. You went over and above trying to help me, and can't thank you enough. Not often you get house calls at the track!

Silver - You are such a positive influence to be around. I have learned a ton listening to, and reading your experiences. You have good friends because you are a great one. Those pics are great!

L8 - your job sucked *****! But wouldn't have been the same without you there this weekend. Tent city, mexican food, and just hanging out in the evenings with the breeze and bullshitting. Let me know if those pics turned out. And big thanks for running for breakfast and ice!

OnRails - you sir are a trooper. Interstate alligator gets kicked up and destroys your windshield and you motor on, get that thing fixed, and get in some track time. I think you have earned your track-ho official badge (or a cluster on it since you probably already had that badge).

OD - man, I will hang out with you any time. Saw you got some posts in so I know you made it back. Saw you might miss RR in an earlier post. Hope that changes - you are great help to a new guy like me, and are just damn fun to be around.

I am running out of energy...
TA2, Kurt, Lego, Steve, Don, Donna, Kevin, Drew, Jim, - wonderful to see you all.

Will post more later

Ah, where to start. Anyone have any water? Or some shade, a fan, something, because it was damn hot, even the skeeters were kept at bay by the miserable heat during the day.

Traffic was a nightmare getting to RA on Friday, but a couple cold beers and some good food made all that fade away.

OnRails, man, you have got to love this track thing, to stick it out after having the windshield caved in by a rogue tire, you get the award for the most perseverance just to get out on track. But I am glad you stuck it out, and glad you got to taste RA, you looked really fast out there.

OMS, mechanicals happen. Chas will have you runnin’ in no time. You looked like you were having a blast trying to stay in front of OD while you could. The fire ***** that sometimes came out in turn 1 were really cool too.

OD, quietly, calmly, and deceptively quick. Hope you get your new grounding kit re-built, and away from belts. I had fun watching you play chase with the girl in the silver M3 with the pink nose job. She can really scoot that car around, it was fun to watch.

TA, congrats man, you have officially taken the competitive blue pill, and we all know you are hooked, the **** eating grin told it all. You have been getting faster, and better every time out, and continue to amaze me. I had a ton of fun watching you drift through turn 1.

TA2, I did not get to talk to you all that much, you seemed very busy all weekend. Sorry to hear about your bumper, did you ever get the story from the Kinetic guys.

Lego, you always look like you are having fun in the little black 7. A couple times you had a good pilot light coming into turn 1, that was cool.

Dano, you looked like you were having fun, the car looked nice and stable. Always good social time too, camping at tent city was a blast. We will have to do that again, but when it is cooler out.

If I missed anyone, sorry, my brain is still a little over done from the heat. It was 125 on the hot pits, the asphalt was 140 at pitout, and I was in the middle of it. Saturday was not too bad, but the big crash in the Thunder race on Sunday scared the **** out of me. I was standing 10 feet from the point of impact where the Camaro hit the pit wall, and got showered by glass and grass and debris. Then I got to spend the better part of almost 2 hours helping clean it up. There was oil from the end of the pitwall, all the way through turn 1, and glass was spread all the way to the wall on the outside of the pit entrance road, and all the way down to the exit of the pit entrance road. And a little in my shirt, my hair and ears. I saw the car coming at me, and it hit, so fast, I could not react fast enough, and debris was flying before I knew it. It was scary, but I was glad I was not down in my normal spot, it would have been more scary, since there would have been no wall. I was glad to have that 12 inches of concrete between me and the rookie driver. I think I and the other corner workers don’t want me to work anymore, when I work, people crash and spill oil everywhere. So, I need to just drive from now on. I like that idea, we will see if it works out.

Tent city was fun, the flat footed skeeters were too hot, so they stayed in their homes and left us alone. It was nice to be right at the track, and not have to drive back and forth to a hotel, and it worked out great from a cost standpoint. I would do it again, if it was not so hot next time. I have a couple of cool night time pics that I need to review, and post if they turned out.

I had a good weekend, it was fun to watch everyone fly by, I just wish I had been out there too. Next time.

On to Roebling, I can’t wait.

Dang man that is the 1st I had heard of the crash and your involvement--so to speak. I guess i was working on the car at the time.
Whew--sounds like an experience. Turn one seemed to be cursed this weekend. Lot of stuff happened around there. I think it was because Charlie joined us and we have not given him a proper "cleansing ceremony"
Any ideas?
Our little group is getting fast. Times and speeds are proof of that. At those speeds things can happen quick---real quick--- and Road Atlanta is a non forgiving track. After 4 inside passes on turn 1, an outside pass in turn 3, a inside pass in turn 12, an uneven SANDWICHED pass going into turn 6 and through turn 6 and various other stuff I am beginning to feel the need for more protection. I wonder if there are any street friendly roll cages out there?
I had a blast when i had good sessions out. When Silver got his tire pressures adjusted the boy was cooking pretty doggone good and it was getting to be real work to keep up! He has improved so rapidly.
I had fun with those M3's out there. What surprised me was they were not pulling me on the back straight--i was not pulling them--but neither were they. Their cars must have not liked the heat. When I went 9-10/10(with dsc ON!) i could beat them. Hmmmm?!
i wont ever forget that supercharged scion smoking his tires coming out of turn 5--som bitch --did he have the power! BUT--he didnt lap me though! he probably wasnt trying either!
I put a crap load of pre mix in the car these w/e--1oz/gal--interesting enough read the forum thread about OMP mod--seems racing beat has stopped doing those and have done pre mix studies---interesting!
damn it was hot.
pansy *** motel boy---olddragger

Jeeezzzzzz! I didn't realize you were that close to all those happnings. Wow, I can't imagin being pelted with shards of glass and crap. How did you react? Did you hit the ground, turn & run, Stop Drop & Roll, Jump up and down with fear or scream like a little girl? I'm afraid I'd have been a deer in the headlights!
