I'd say screw the NOS. Makes me wonder how many laps they think you can get with a full bottle. Are they just talking about coming out of corners and some on the back straight? You'd be out or too low pressure after 2 to 3 laps. Talk them into a flywheel comparison on Saturday and Sunday so you can see the lap difference for the same driver. Record all the laps both days and compare that data.

I am tapped guys (and girls). I just spent a chunk on this TEIN purchase and the install stuff.....so, as bad as I hate it, I'm gonna pass on the free labor and new installs this time around. So, I'll play with my new set up and maybe next time.........

My own car may be able to serve up as the nitrous mule since I already have it installed. The problem is that I also have a ton of other stuff, too. At the very least, assuming R/A doesn't have a ban on nitrous use at their facility, we can see how long a tank will last in real use. I know I can get about a total of 300 seconds with the 55 shot. It would be cool to use a data-logger to see how much time is spent at full-throttle. Then we could see if nitrous is truly practical in course racing. With regard to the notion that nitrous comes on suddenly, that's not how it works out.
BTW, I got my car number for the HPDE I class. Guess what it is? #1.

Atlanta Motor Speedway in May
NASA-SE has opened up registration for their May event at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This is just an FYI. I think we need to get through the March event first but this is an early warning shot across the bow...
BTW - I think I am #77. That is the number I asked for (don't know why since I should have gone for #8).

Add 1 more to the count!
I signed up for HPDE Level 1. I'll be driving my '94 RX-7 but I'll probably have my RX-8 along in case the 7 doesn't pass tech. I should be wearing car # 7, 54 or 99. This oughtta be a blast!!
My common-law sister-in-law signed up too with her yellow S2000...
Sweeeeet.

Welcome to the party!!!! Please join us Friday afternoon at Mazcare for an open house. No real prep going on besides the usual bolt on parts. Look forward to meeting you.

Charles, as much as I hate to say it, it's kind of obvious that nitrous has no real practical use on a road course. 300 seconds on a bottle will last you about 2 laps and a half at Road Atlanta assuming the lap times are around 2 mins a lap. With each 20 to 25 min session you'll be getting about 10 to 12 laps in, after 2 you'd by high and dry in the bottle. Granted it would be extra fun for those 2.3 laps but you'd have to refill after every session with it being what about $3 a pound in a 10 lb bottle, means an extra $30 (if that's the going rate but I don't know) for those 2.5 laps. Better off spending that on race gas since you'll get more miles (and be running safer) than with the nitrous.

Two points to consider on the nitrous/road racing marriage;
1) I don't imagine that my throttle will be wide-open all around the track, so I might get a little more time out of a tank than just a few laps.
2) There are a few Corvette owners I know of who road race with nitrous and they seem to enjoy it. One guy has a 200 h.p. system on his 400 h.p. engine so he seems to rely fairly heavily on the boost.
I figure that there are so few people who have written about the pros and cons in course use, from anything other than a speculative sense, that maybe we can begin to create a definitive article about it.

Short response since I'm sure you've explained the setup elsewhere; sounds like yours is setup to kick in when you go WOT or is it the magic button? There's so many setups now that you can do a lot more than just have it set up to just hit a button.

Heck I am curious as to what the nitrus will do for Charles on the track. With a turbo, I bet he won't be WOT as much as us NA folks. I have my foot flat to the floor down the front straight into the braking zone for turn 1, exiting from turn 1, again through the esses, again to turn 6, exiting turn 7 into the braking zone for the chicane, WOT again up out of 10B, lifting slightly down hill to turn 12, and then flat to the floor again. I would drain a bottle in no time...

With my mods I am pulling a 13.7 1/4 mile. Stock was about 14.8, or so. With the nitrous am getting mid to high 12's. I figure even the N/A is enough power to not need to go WOT as often as others. If you look at the video one of the other guys has about his turbo driveability, that's exactly how my car runs now. I can't remember which other member posted it, but his description of his traction issues is the same as mine. With the turbo my car will be out of control on anything less than R rated tires.
Since I am no road racer, which is why I decided to come down and meet you guys, I am not going to assume anything except that I will definitely be using the nitrous on that long straight you keep mentioning(if the track allows it).
Tim, since I like you I hate to say this but do a search on nitrous. I have detailed explanations and photos on a couple threads I hosted a while back.

I've been away for the last 5 days on a Cruise with Disney Cruise Line. Let me tell you it was wonderful. I forgot what day it was while I was napping in the sun. I would recommend it to anyone.
