Lego, this was the funniest thing I've read in a long time. I read it this morning before leaving for work. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. I had a vision of an old sitcom, Soap, the one a young Billy Crystal was on. When the program would start the announcer would begin talking about what was going to happen during the show and it sounded a lot like the way you wrote your post. All it needed was the theme song.

Thanks! I needed that. :D

Turn 6 is done!

I have one more section to do, "Turn 12/front straight", and it is the largest of all with 134 images. I will probably weed some out.

Guess what I discovered? I made a few G-Tech runs when I got back because the car had been feeling sluggish for quite a while but I couldn't pin down what was bothering me. 14 flats were all I could muster and with the nitrous I was only pulling 13.7's. Then I realized that I could probably use a tranny flush after all the hammerin' at R/A. I went in my shed to get another couple quarts of Royal Purple and realized that I had been using Max Gear rather than Synchro Max in the trans. I did a quick fluid swap, only with the right stuff this time, and reclaimed the lost few tenths and I am now back to 13.7's dry. That means that those of you who had rides in my car got gypped out of a few tenths and 20 h.p. during the ride. Looks like I owe all of you second rides so be prepared to be further tittilated when that happens. There is a big difference and everything is back to normal.

Although the viscosities were not necessarily different between the Synchro and the Gear Maxes, the difference is probably that the Gear Max has what is called a "clinging" quality to it. That means it attaches itself to a surface and doesn't let go. The power loss comes by way of the gears having to force the fluid out of the way in order to roll over just as if the fluid were along the lines of a 120+ weight fluid. Who'da thought a fluid mismatch would cut 3-4 tenths off the performance?

Another interesting point is that the 1" taller tires I am currently using have much less of a negative effect than did the fluid problem. I may still go to 26" by way of 245/40-18's, though it is good to know I won't be going crazy in the meantime.

"Turn 12 and the Front Straight" have been added to the web site now. So that concludes the image uploads. :D Now I will take the weekend off and go do something with my family. Next week I will start on the videos... after I do my taxes. I can’t wait to work on Charles' NOS run. I will go ahead and announce to Jim Pantas of NASA that the site is complete for their use and they will be putting a link from their SE Division site to mine.

One thing I forgot to mention about the fluid swap was that if you guys thought the tach needle swept quickly before, you should see it now! It feels real good to be back at my normal performance level. Keeping in mind that my 55 shot cuts about 1 to 1.1 seconds off my e.t. it is no surprise that a change in 20 h.p. has a dramatic effect. At the e.t.'s I am getting a change in 20 h.p. results in a .4(+/-) second change in times. I guess a rule of thumb that can be applied is that each 5 h.p. can shave off a tenth in the 1/4 mile, at least until the 12 second range.

What happened was that the shop where I buy my OTC parts told me the fluid would work fine. They didn't happen to have the Synchro in stock when I needed it. It is true, it did "work" as my tranny is fine but it didn't work to the fullest potential. Not to blame them, as I should have known better, but now we all know the consequences and repercussions of using different fluids. Anyway, OD you are definitely going to like the next ride and we may even have time to let you show me how to drive the car on the track, the RIGHT WAY, as opposed to how I do it.

While I was in Atl. I forgot to say that you guys are some very good drivers and I was impressed by the abilities displayed by all of you and the pointers offered to me. Hopefully, I can take y'all to Milan dragway and pass on what talents I have for drag racing to all of you just the same. Drag racing, especially on the street, is mostly mental and races are usually won or lost even before the light turns green.

Wow, the RB intake is fantastic.

Feels like a lightened flywheel. The extra hp gives you more torque on the low end.
You will have to re-learn fast shifting again as redline comes alot sooner.

You can now cruz in 6th gear and accelerate like your in 5th.

The idle is smooth.

And I do believe the whole unit weighs less.

talk about sweeping the tac. This mod does it. I highly recomend you guys buy one.

Not every but a few... I didn't like the fact that the first post became a WAR between Rotary God and DUB.

It take a new person 4 pages of BS before you even get a response from a neutral party who bought and installed it.

Agreed also Razz
Its too bad when it gets like that. I have been looking at that intake and I must admit its the only one i have seen that I like better than my homemade job(although I do have the bling factor over RB!) I bet you could plexiglass the top of RB's and get a good bling with it!
That much differance huh? I know RB makes good stuff and you can believe what they say. I think thats what I like the best about them. They are honest.
Question did you have to take the front clip off to install it. Tha vfad has to be removed correct?

OH MY! I JUST HIT THE 500 POST CLUB! I'm seriously bonafide now! :D

I just made a few changes to my home page and I need to make sure it's OK with you guys. I put links to your movies (Lego & Nabil). If it may cause any problems, I will take them off. Just let me know. Phlash, I think it is on your server, right? Do you have any concern about bandwidth?

Hey guys, How about we spend an evening at the Andretti Speed Labs in Roswell next time we're in ATL. They've got some great carting there. I've got a couple buddies who've done it and they had a blast.

Got a question for you guys. The Mazda Dealership by me may be able to get me a deal on '05 key fobs. If the price is right, anyone else interested? I figure the group should have one more thing in common by getting matching key fobs. I'll let you know of the price, but if I get a number, I might be able to work a deal.

I love my key. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...7&page=1&pp=15

My research on price was WAY less than everyone else was quoting. I dropped the search for pricing because I could not get anything better. The price was so low that no one believed me and questioned if I was being quoted correctly.

Post #29 in the thread:
"I called back and spoke to a different guy, I was told $59.30. Just to make sure I don't get a swappidy-do-da, I asked what the price on the standard version was and he said around $30. How about someone else calling their Mazda authorized parts dealer to see what they come up with?"

My dealer is Moss Robertson in Gainesville. If you want me to check again I will. The price I here everyone else is around $180. It does require programming.
