NASA March 18/19 Road Atlanta
Never too early to start talking about a track event. This is the one I am waiting on. If I dont get a opening for the event in January then it will be 6 mos since I have had track time. Ok so lets start it up.
1--WHo all will be HP 1? Who will be HP 2 and is anyone going to try the HP 3 class. I wish we all could stick in the same class. More fun.
2- Who will be running R compunds?
3- Seriously-- everyone needs a good alignment and track brake pads--seriously.
4- Look at the oil temp Jay had in his 8 when he was tracking. Caused me to think and I may change the weight of the oil I use and I will definity use a pre mix. I want this engine to last a long time.
Let the talk begin!!!

I will definately be there. Most likely still in HPDE 1, unless STF signs me off to move up to 2 after TGPR. I will be on street tires, but they are the Azenis, as close as I will get to R compounds. I am registering tonight, or first thing tomorrow at work.
Turn 12, here I come.

I will be in, um, instructors, or race group, I am not sure. I want to have some folks to run with this time, and I want to run nose to tail. If I get a full-on cage this week, then, I will sign up for one of the classes, but not really sure where I would fit in?
Otherwise, I will be in Instructor group......with the others.......toying.....

1. I signed up today for HPDE 2.
2. I'll be running either BFG R1's or RS04 Hoosiers. If the BFG's last til then, I'll use them.
3. I'll be ordering Hawk HP+ pads really soon!
4. If you're at TGPR, I'll bring and show you the Premix and measuring bottles I use for my 7.

I requested you as an instructor when I signed up. Hopefully, for me anyway, you may be stuck with me again.

I hope to be there...
1. This will be my first track day, so HPDE 1 for me.
2. Hopefully I'll be on some hoosiers.(Ithink I have a line on some run-off leftovers)
3. At this time I have no plans on new brakes. If anything, different pads(stock size)

You haven't had the car very long have you? The stock pads have been great for me so far. I'm going to Hawk since I have 32K on the car. This includes autocrosses about 1/month, and 5 track days. Trust me, if you have low milage pads, they'll do fine. Once they have some miles on them, you should then upgrade.

I look forward to seein you guys there....too. I LOVE Road A. I can't wait to see TA in action.....I can go out in his group now..... However, I am not sure, I may only bring street tires there. Last time I was there, I was 1:46's on old tires, but I hadn't finish dialing i the chassis. I will be curious to see what the thing does now.

OD, be careful with those tires, they give you a false sense of the limit. You can push them, but when they give, they give.
As for the HPDE levels.....guys, trust me, the most fun is running together, in the crowd. If I had an extra 300 bucks, I would sign up for an HPDE, and screw the instructor thing. I just like running nose to tail with folks, and watching the various cars on the tracks....
*****************
On a side note, I went by the dealership again, I think after One Lap, I am going to trade the Evo, and get an RX8. I like the lines too much. I am going to try to find out whether or not next years will have a poweradder, rumors are always flying. My wife REALLY loves the looks, and the handling is too top notch to pass up. I will miss the 'in your face' look of the Evo, but finally having a crew to hang with, and share setup notes is too good to pass up.
Before you ask, yes, white, I like the looks of AC8s. I am not sure of the options yet, I will have to continue to troll and research. As for setup, I am going to have to put Marietta (sp) to work on that. I am thinking 'custom geometry up front, of course, I will share with my friends when it is done.

Welcome STF! Wait a minute-- heck even though you didnt drive an 8 it didnt matter! But now you do(soon will!) thats great man. Your experience and knowledge will be a big help for us all.
Dont get the sunroof if you are tall and have a big head --like me--- not much room for a helmet!
Yea I understand about the tires. I also for the 1st time will be on a suspenion--i now have the konis and tein springs--already had the RB sways. TG looks like it has a lot of run off room. I sure DONT want to run RA with my dsc off.
rotor on guys

My lazy *** finally got registered...HPDE 1. now the wait begins, at least TGPR is less than a month away now.
Question...if STF signs me off to move to HPDE 2, wishfull thinking I know, but can that be done now that I am sgined up for HPDE 1?

I'm sure you can talk to Julie after TGPR and have her put you in 2.

Worry less about wherer you want to be, and more about where you are, lesson one grasshopper.....I am sending the deposit next day on Friday....I spoke to TGPR, and unhappily, we got the same deal. I am out of town, won't be back till Thursday night.
If you haven't sent money, please do so, i want him to have all the money, ASAP.

Agreed, I am going to focus more on how I am driving now, and waht I need to do to drive better. What group or class I am in, really is not the point.
Driving in the same group as the rest of the 8's would be nice though.
