Hey, I may have to bow out, I have an upgrade that weekend, so, until I know for sure I am out. I have to talk to my new boss and find out how 'definite' this is. Oh, the joys of healthcare.
Anyway, best I remember, the new surface isn't as bad as it used to be when I raced there (yes, I tested that track). It used to be so rough I wore a mouthpiece to keep from breaking teeth.
Also, the bathrooms there are VERY clean, at least they used to be. Last, I was North Carolina champ at that track in the early 90's. Do any of you feel more intimidated now? I may even bring my 'cool' members only jacket with the championship stitching.......

I believe he was a carter. He could push a Publix Shopping Cart around the store faster than anyone else.
Sorry, I lied and posted again today. It had a little substance in it. Just a little.

Yes, I was a Karter, WKA. I also did some testing for Ford there, back in 93. I never was keen on that track, however, it is fun to drive. If Nabil will run by the Smithsonian and get his VCR again, I will bring some of my old tapes to watch, provided I can get the weekend off.
Who all is in for this? Oh, my buddie Steve may come down, and in other news, I HAVE ANOTHER SPONSOR. RacingBrake.com is sending me some of their stuff to test, so I will probably be back at Road A or RR this month, WITH my R's from Mr. Nobody's here in Gastonia. (Shameless plugs)

The transistions are aggressive, but not TOO extreme. Just be gradual, rather than aggressive when transitioning, and you should be fine.
There are some vids on www.corner-carvers.com, which you may be able to see.

Otay boys and girls...been doing some math (please no graphs Lego, Val). We may want to rethink the hotel phlash thing. Based on the mileage I got towing to and from Savannah when Nabil, Val, and I went, it would take almost 7 tanks of gas. @ the current gas gouging rate that works out to almost five (5) dead georges. That would cover 3.5 rooms with two in each for the two nights @ the 68.00 NASA rate. You engineers need to take this and run and let us know where our line of no return is. I don't mind the drive or towing, just trying to figure out which would be our best route.
So, how many are going? I'm pretty sure I'm in....

hey guy's, havnet been to the track in my 8 yet and jsut found this post, was planning on waiting till next spring and goin to cmp w/ the porshe club. but this event seems pretty interesting, havnet been on here too long and havent met many other rx8 guy's. but if there are some other 8 guy's goin it'd be pretty cool to hit the track w/ some. has any one actually signed up for driving yet, i've done an event at carolina motor sports park before and graduated to the next level, which level should i sign up for, for this event, also, a few of you mentioned camping out there, what are the conditions for that, are there provisions for a tent and what not. thanks

With Hotel Phlash:
~$500 for gas
$0 for lodging
People drive they way they would from Atlanta or if Phlash goes through and give rides, there is a savings on gas. Depending on whether you're doing this or not, there is added savings on gas. I'm assuming that it won't matter.
Phlash driving his 8 & staying at Commercial Hotel:
~$469.20 for 3 hotel rooms at $68/night double occupancy including 15% for hotel charges per night.
PLUS Phlash pays an additional $122 for gas for the 857 mile trip averaging 21 mpg at an estimated $3.00/gallon for gas.
People still drive / caravan / ride together from Atlanta. Again, this is going to be a wash if the camper goes or not.
In summary :
~$500 in gas with hotel Phlash -- split 6 ways is $83/person for staying on the track. This also has added savings due to bringing food and grilling out like RA. Plus FUN!!!
~$469.20 for hotel for 6 people PLUS additional expense by Phlash of $122.46 for his gas getting to/from Rockingham. PLUS food expenses for everyone eating out during the weekend. That's $591.66 + Food at restaurants.
You have the data, it's up to you Gordon. Hotel Phlash is a better overall deal for everyone, but it is more work on Phlash.

Ok, who will drive from ATL to Chatt. to help Phlash drive back to Atl to pick us all up, and then who will ride with Phlash from ATL back to Chatt to pick up Val's Ponitac?

Hey guies, yhall don't know me but I was on the forum a while ago, but of course I'm in Iraq so I didn't alway have access to the computer so the speak. Anyhow I might have to make a drive up there, rockingham is only about a 45 min drive away from my house. Its been a full 8 months since I seen my 8 last and I'm finally coming home in 14 days!!! So I should of course be home in time for this!!! Its time I open her up anyway. But I'm from NC originally but got stationed at Fort Bragg so I'm right back at home. I actually live only about 10 miles from the base before I join up. Iraq is hell and its been one long year, but what better what to get it started off rigth again then to get in my 8 and head up to there.. I look forward to meeting up with yhall and of course looking forward to making all the future meets as well!!!
