RJ, first as as son of men who served in two wars, THANKS for all you do over there. I can't put into words the gratitude and respect I have for you.

Be aware, anytime I put an event on, you are free to come, without payment, out of admiration for your time served.

Now, yes, you need to get to the rock, and blow off some steam.

Be careful, and see you when you get stateside.

STF, any word on the driving school you had thought about planning at one point? Are you still trying to organize that? End of thread hijack.

With Hotel Phlash:

People drive they way they would from Atlanta or if Phlash goes through and give rides, there is a savings on gas. Depending on whether you're doing this or not, there is added savings on gas. I'm assuming that it won't matter.

Phlash driving his 8 & staying at Commercial Hotel:

~$469.20 for 3 hotel rooms at $68/night double occupancy including 15% for hotel charges per night.
PLUS Phlash pays an additional $122 for gas for the 857 mile trip averaging 21 mpg at an estimated $3.00/gallon for gas.
People still drive / caravan / ride together from Atlanta. Again, this is going to be a wash if the camper goes or not.

In summary :

~$500 in gas with hotel Phlash -- split 6 ways is $83/person for staying on the track. This also has added savings due to bringing food and grilling out like RA. Plus FUN!!!

~$469.20 for hotel for 6 people PLUS additional expense by Phlash of $122.46 for his gas getting to/from Rockingham. PLUS food expenses for everyone eating out during the weekend. That's $591.66 + Food at restaurants.

You have the data, it's up to you Gordon. Hotel Phlash is a better overall deal for everyone, but it is more work on Phlash.
Daymmmmnnnnnn...I guess I had that coming......

I don't mind driving at all. Chatt to Atlanta is 130miles. I can pick up three passing through. I'd like to be there early to get our pick of places. Just remember, your at the mercy of only having the truck to get us all around while were there. I am still trying to find out if they have 30a connections or I'm gonna need to borrow a gereator with 30a (910.582.2861 if any of ya'll get through to them. We also need to find out about the covered rentals Dave was talking about). This is really only for A/C and microwave. Everything else runs off propane or a 110 connection. If it's cool enough, that's a moot point, and we'll be fine.

I can bring rita stuff and BBQ or brauts again and we can divy up from there.....

Being able to stumble out of the camper right to the morning meeting wasn't a bad set up at all. Makes that hangover just a little easier to deal with.....:D

I will drive my car, I think we will need at least one or two cars there. I could be leaving a little early on Sunday, like right after lunch.

RJ, I haven't installed the kit, but I can help tune it. I have an Evo, and I spent hours tuning that thing at a dyno. I will give you my contact info when you get home.

dragger, YOU have to come, wait, I may not make it either....GUYS, there is an event at VIR in december, yes, december. All my 'BMW' and Stang guys are going, should be a hoot. I would love for you folks to consider it too, and it is with the PCA group, who despite some differences, run a Safe and FUN event. Besides, it's VIR.

ok guys
we are getting slack in posting. I know yall are up to something!
A word of warning. If you have aftermarket sways(racing beats etc) CHECK the bushings!
Dont let them dry out! I did mine this week(took 30mins) and they where dry as a bone dude! I regreased them needless to say. Do it or you will be buying new bushings soon. use a silicone grease.

Now info please. Where do you guys buy your used r compound tires? Source? I NEED SOME! And does anyone have any knowledge of the pro's and cons of 17" wheels and tires vs the 18". I plan on using 17 x 8 wheel and a 245/45/ 17" r compund tire. Hopefully Hoosiers. Hey Freak you out there? Charlie? What do ya'll think. It will be a lower cost to get and maintain. Now is there a noticable performance differance? Do I have to change alignment settings? Help me out here guys so I can be ready come springtime events.

Agggghhhh!

17's will help you from a gearing standpoint. They will be faster and you will have less rotational mess to turn given they are lighter than the 18's you're running. Don't really see a con aside from a false speedo reading. It'll read a little low.

The R compounds I found were on ebay. You can also find them on froogle (google's online market). If you're getting 17's, you might want to try azenis sports. You'll be able to drive them to the events. They are also very sticky. STF uses them on his evo8 and I know a lot of track/autox folks that use them.

Damn, if only it was the 245/40. I'd have a new set. I really like these tires. They are great for all seasons and they've gone through 3 HPDE's.

I'm out! Property taxes due Dec 1 and with 11 acres it isn't pretty! Also family comes first and heating bills are going to be out of site this winter so I must spend time getting my three cords off firewood cut and stacked.

I'm also going to be out of the Endurance Karting. I really hate to do this but priorities dictate.

I know the feeling Silver. I have already told all I'm out of participating til spring. Doesnt mean we cant meet up somewhere for something. I wish Panoz wasnt so damn expensive.
A one day event close to hoem would be do-able.
Thanks for the info on the tires guys. I am looking for hoosiers or the toyo ra-1's

I am out, because I HAVE to go do an upgrade.

Nabil, I will PM my cell number to you, please give me a ring, I will introduce you to Steve, Dan, Mike, and some other buddies I open-track with. Steve is a GREAT driver, and the guy you watch when you go to www.32vcobra.com.

What I am really bummed about is the fact I got a new clutch, work done to my tranny, and all of this stuff below.

I'm not going to put you out of a bed that you initially planned to sleep in. I would prefer the inflatible mattress. I'll bring a sleeping bag too.
