Hey guys, just saw this thread.

ROAR is going to be there. I will be racing in PTB in either the #62 or #63, not sure yet. Rob is going to be running in TT in the #61. Also, he will be instructing the winner of an HPDE weekend package at a charity ball in DE1 in the #61 car.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I won't be driving my 8 for this, but the miata. There will be two or three of those, a few 7's (I think Marietta 8 is bringing the LS1 Rx7), at least 3 Rx8's so far, plus we will be hanging with a couple that is bringing an Audi R8, an Exige S, and a Ford GT. (Not the mustang GT - the supercar GT. ) SilverEight and L8Apex are also scheduled to make appearances. And am hoping our two friends in mustangs show.

We are gonna have an impressive group in the paddock, just not as many 8's this year.
Ok, I'll come hang out some. As of now the plan is to stay on the outside of the track with the racers since I'm staying in someones RV for the weekend, and he is going to carry my tires over for me.

Anybody going to this that could be a wheel and tire pick up service for me (not tracking, so they have room to pick them up and take them home till I can get to Atlanta)????

Cool. RV is the way to go if you know someone with one.

Phlash, I won't be able to in my spacious Miata, but if someone doesn't throw out an offer I have a certain friend that stores his trailer at Mazcare. Am sure he will be glad to haul them over there. He offers hauling space all the time and will be at RA. Say the word, and I will ask him.
I will gladly pick them up, just no way to haul them myself.

Nasa has decided to post its driver list earlier if possible.

Since RA is selling out fast, they have a driver list out already if you are interested.

(From GARX8Club.com thread)

I've been communicating with Eric Meyer of Meyer Motorsports:
http://www.meyer-motorsports.com/Home/Home.html

Grand Am Koni Challenge Mazda RX8 #16

He is in the progress of building another car and has a blog going on the Rotary4Life forum.

He's building a Grand Am Koni Challenge ST RX8 and will be at NASA event at RA. He has invited us to stop by his paddock. He will be pretty busy training a new crew chief. They will be using this event as a testing session and will be trying out different set-ups, brakes, suspension changes and such but He's looking forward to meeting us.

"Group Presentation: I can show you Ugly Betty and it's rougher than our red car (or the new car I just bought last week--a gray 2004 RX8). The new girl is affectionately known as Es Pablo? Don't ask me why. So, I can show you guys anything and everything you want to know about Betty. Did you see the pix of the white car on the forum? That's the one we're testing and the one we'd bring to R.A."

Anyway, it's another opportunity to get to know another racer and see what he's up to. I look forward to meeting him.

Bah! I have so much to do!

Well, not really - but it feels like it.
I have so many people I am supposed to meet and talk to, I don't know if I can keep up with it!!

Look for me in the pro pits, interior to the track! I am not hard to find.

w00t!

Erick Meyer will not be at RA. He sent me an email and said he wouldn't be able to make it. "testing with two cars (instead of just one) here locally in Indiana."

hey OD, if you make it up on Sunday, can you bring the RB adapter plates we were swapping parts for? I don't know when I will be back in your neck of the woods, and want to work on getting my gauges bought and installed before Roebling.

Your car looks very track ho-ish!!! All those stickers add weight you know... good thing you aren't in the Time Trials.

What a crazy day for weather. My wife is going to kill me when she sees all the mud I got in her car from trying to get the perfect pic today. What a mess, mud everywhere. Four runs to the tunnel to escape the possible tornados. With all the bad weather. I was impressed with the handling I saw from every group.

Strangely, I enjoy shooting in the rain. Getting wet doesn't bother me because of the potential for great shots. Not because it's a potential for accidents but the atmosphere that is created with water being sprayed from the cars. Good stuff and I enjoyed watching everyone very much.

I looked over the TT results and didn't find todays so TA is going to have to wait. I didn't see a TTD listed for Saturday so if there was not one for Sunday then his track record should stand. Fingers crossed for you TA.

As usual, when I get the camera in my hand at the track, I have a hard time doing anything else so I spent all day watching the cars on track through my SLR. I got a late start because when I got to the track I realized I left my tripod at home. Luckily I only live about 15 miles away so about 40 min. later, I was back at the track. I didn't plan on working as hard as I did but I just can't help myself. So, I have 3,000 photos to weed through. This will take a few minutes!

Didn't see everyone very much but a little at lunch so I'm glad I had the opportunity to have dinner at Crossroads Bar & Grill with the gang.

This was NASA-SE's first spectator event. There was lots of racing but I didn't really see that many spectators. Wonder how that's going to go over? Saw lots of cars that I was not familiar with so the bigger event definitely drew more of the pros.

He did that every time he went around turn 6. Both he and Sane Lovely, the Honda in the pic before him did the same thing but the Nissan would raise 6" and the Honda about 1". Notice the back tire is not rotating in either pic. They rode like that all the way around the turn.

I had a fun time, as it was my first RA experience. I wish the weather had have waited til another day, but oh well at least Sunday was clear.

My first session on Saturday I got the rear out 2-3 times in the wet and got a little timid. The second session has a dry line execpt for the river at 12 so it wasn't to bad, and the third was right after the tornados so I said forget it, it's not worth wrecking the car over just to putt around in the rain.

Sunday was alot better, I still didn't know how good the track was going to be in the morning since it was really my first dry session, but by the end of the day I felt comfortable, and was looking for more. I'm going to try and come back later in the year as long as I can find a ride for my tires.

Thats actually a guy from here that I know pretty good, he says he's still trying to get the car to rotate and has basically zero suspension travel in the rear. I'm not sure how he did Sunday since I left as he was finishing up, but in the rain on Saturday he was third in the group, and won his class. It was fun watching a sentra keep up with the red 350z and one of the Roar RX-8s in the wet.
