Don, will you let me know how those Plus's work on the street with regard to noise and dust? I sell Hawk and have read their website but you know how subjective these things can be.

Ray, I plan to leave them on for the duration of tracking season. I think several of us do that. I know TrackAddict does. You will get some good feedback from the guys at the track in a couple weeks. I think you have come a long way in your development and the guys that are tracking are going to amaze you. They have come a long way also since your visit in 2005. I think you are going to pick up a lot of information that is going to be beneficial for your business. It may be more ideas, a better understanding on something and certainly the experimenting you will be doing with OD.
As far as the HP Plus goes on the street. Some people hate them because they have a tendency to squeak more than OEM and they are so much more aggressive that you have to be constantly careful of drivers behind you winding up in your rear seats. I always heat them up with a few applications on the way down the street so when I get in traffic they will be warmed up. They are too bad when cold but they do need to heat up a little.
You may want to bring a couple extra sets in case someone needs a set. You may wind up taking them back but who knows. Mine are fine. The fronts have two track days and the rears are brand new. I think most all of us drive the HP +'s except OD and maybe OnRails.
As far as the clutch assembly goes, I will be bringing it back to you at the track. Not because it's not good but because I had already welded mine up at the office on Monday. Mine is not a rigid as yours but I think it will be sufficient. This will give others a chance to look it over and see what you can offer them. I will also be showing it to a group at a get together on Sunday so sending it to me was a good move for you.

CRH, I DD an Rx8 and track a miata. I run the HP+ all the time on the miata, and love em. There is some brake dust, but I expect to have a bit. I don't get much noise - and I love the bite and feel. I don't have ABS on the miata, so that bite/feel is important to me to avoid getting on to hard and locking up.
The 8 has spectacular brakes stock, but am still thinking of putting the Hawks on cause I like them that much.
and back to the Village People thing - it is a good thing I don't know photoshop!

I use the Carbotech XP8. They are definitely not for street use due to the squeal and dust but very kind to the rotors at the track and long lasting.
Sorry to change the subject but I'm doing some studying. Is this how it's done at RR or what? I love this video!

My video from RR last year looks like a Sunday drive in comparison,
I love how OMS looks over to see how fast they are going down the front straight. The long beep in 4th is awesome.
Looks like the trick is how must you're wiling to push it through turn 3 and compressing the braking zone into turn 1.. I think TA said he can hit 90 - 95 through 3?
I know L8Apex knows some good tricks.

They describe it well. It is a tiny bit aggressive for your normal 9-5 drive, and comes with a bit of dust, and sometimes some noise. But I find that all in acceptable levels. At the track, when you get more aggressive, it bites, holds, and doesn't fade.
I am driving a light car (Miata) at DE2 level so I can't speak for more advanced drivers or even how they would feel on my 8.
For me, it is a great pad for multi application use. And the life has been incredible.
I surely need more tire before I need more pad.

And the 1/2 and 5 turns. Last year there was great talk about double apexing or carrying as one turn in a rimshot.
I have my ears open and hope to hear some good info!

RR is fun, fast, and easy to learn yet difficult to totally master. Rob W is incredible there! I am looking forward to it and defending my track record.

First off, on the RX8, it makes much less noise than on a WRX.
It can take a lot more track abuse on the 8 than on the WRX (thanks to the 8's larger rotor diameter, lower vehicle weight and lower terminal speed entering brake zones at the end of long straights).
Where I used to experience fade on the WRX on HP Plus at the 20 minute mark of track time, the HP Plus will only begin to exhibit signs of fade at/about 40 minutes of lapping on the 8. This is while being extremely precise with brake zones, and on tracks like Homestead, I don't experience any fade at all thanks to several long straights which cool the brakes well.
The one factor which has prompted me to switch over to Porterfield R4S instead of HP Plus was the brake dust factor. The HP Plus do create lots of dust which over time, erode at the wheel finish. The R4S dusts a little less on the street. Tomorrow will be my first track day with them, so I'll see how they feel then. So far, on the street they have less initial bite than the HP Plus, but offer very linear braking. This may be a little easier to modulate at the track and will hopefully reduce some of the squirrely tail syndrome I've been getting under really hard braking.
And finally, I measured rotor wear over the past year with the HP Plus and the wear is almost nil. That's averaging 1 track day every six weeks and a full year of daily driving.

carbo tech xp 8's one set last all season--no prob===much better in transitioning---only have to change the fronts out for track time--run carbotech bobcats in the rear all the time.
RR is fun as hell---you will find your groove--we are hitting 100mpg out of turn 3--i was an idiot and looked.

Thanks for all your help today. The oil pressure gauge is working flawlessly now. I love it.

Regretfully, I deleted spoolin from the list. As hard as I tried, I could not get him to make it to this event.

It ain't a done deal yet, but I have found two, and I hope to close on the thing Wednesday. I had to cash out some stock, but I think it will be ok. If not, then I will be in an RX8 from Roar, and then in a race prepped Mustang (same car, just finished).

I want a roar ride!
I did type mpg didnt I---too much meds that day I suppose!
On Rails i will be bring the RB adaptor for ya--bout time isnt it!
Ok --just want to announce something--i know some will be looking at the supercharged 8 and observing lap times etc. I HAVE NO PLAN TO PUSH THIS CAR AT RR. It is a much different car now and you really have to watch the throttle---the balance is totally different. Much more abrupt ---so it is A LOT easier to loose the rear end. That is something I dont want to do. So dont expect it to be hauling ***.
It is going to be one hell of a time!
