Yea, 135's would have a hard time fitting properly. I changed it in my post.

Well, unfortunately I found out that they will not clear the brakes. So, I'm starting over. Damn-it-to-hell!

Plus there has to be pics of you at all of those events... I'm sure it will work out. I'm looking forward to having somebody with me in DE2.

I'm also curious to see how the stiffer springs and shocks do. Maybe I won't look like this:

I've installed the adjustable Tokicos and the Tein S-Techs since February. They did really well at Rockingham. I suspect all will be good at CMP as well but I'm particularly concerned with the bump going through the kink. I'm thinking having things set too stiff might cause problems there so I've been visualizing going to the left of the hump.

No, I don't think about it much.

after our phone call last night --i researced this throughly ----- i dont understand why you were told that a 17x8 rim will not clear our brakes.???????? I couldnt find one 17x8 wheel that WOULDNT clear our brakes. 16" wheels will not but 17's are fine.

Just breathe off the gas before turn in and then roll back on the throttle. You should be back to full throttle before the apex. That will keep the drama to a minimum as you shift weight to the rear where you want it post bump.

Silver --I looked at the wheels you ordered--dang nice.
Are they the same specs as Goodwin said wouldnt fit?
17x8 with a 48 offset?
Sorry to go on about this, but since i am such a strong advocate for 17" wheels on the track, I may have to call Brian.

I purchased from Edge Racing. When the guy looked up the specs on the RS+m, it did not specify "fitment" but the RP03's did. Since I don't have the time or money to take chance it, I said "Ship-em"! Edge reinforced Brian's comment. Now, will the RS+m's actually fit? Maybe but when the specs don't say yes then for a very few bucks more I get a GREAT looking set of wheels that do fit then I'm OK with it. I'm interested in what you dig up though. I think the only way to really know is for someone to actually put one on an RX-8 and for some reason, it doesn't seem anyone has done that yet.

Julie found my worker credit book...

OnRails, it will be fun to have both of us in DE2, I have never been to CMP, so I might like to follow you around the first session, see you line, and see if I can keep up. I don't think about the kink at all...I just think about Kurt going through the kink, and now I know what not to do.

Well, I know track time must be close, I now have no back seats, I have really squeaky brakes and I can't sleep at night. I still need to do some work on the brakes, I need to change out rotors, I just did not have enough time yesterday. I also am waiting on new rubber boots for the caliper bolts, one of mine is pretty much burnt to a crisp, and I also ordered all new hardware, shims and what not. The track wheels and tires are ready to go, I can't wait to find out how RA-1's work, that should be a h00t.

w00t w00t!

If I remember correctly, Kurt left the track at about 103 mph.

L8, I'm really looking to forward to the stickey tires too. This will be an all new experiance. My mid-pipe goes on Saturday morning. I'll wait to take my seats out till mid-week. I'm pretty damn excited about driving CMP again but I think I'm more excited about getting the new 17's and RA-1s.

^+1 on that. I have yet to...knock on wood...join the 4 off, or spun center track crowd, and would like to keep that record intact.

for those that have run sticky tires before, what is the theory on deciding which one goes on the front, and which on the rear. I don't know what to look for on the RA-1's, since they are used, and have wear on them, that is different than treaded street tires.

they are non directional --so you can run them anywhere--side to side , cross sides --it doesnt matter. The RA's are great tires that last a good long time.
I had to run about 34lbs of air in mine to get to where i wanted to be(40 sidewall). Course everyone is different. If it aint doing what you want, play with the pressures.
Dont forget to take the 1st lap easy to warm the tires!

thanks for the tips OD.

but what about decididng which tires go where to start? do you want deeper and more uniform tread grooves in the front or the rear?

I am looking forward to learning these new tires, I just hope it does not rain, or I won't get to.
